The first revelation that the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, began with was a good vision in sleep, and he would not see a vision except that it came like the breaking of dawn. Then the seclusion came to him, and he would be alone in Cave Har, and he would be devout in it, which is the number of nights of worship before he would go to his family and provide for that. Then he would return to Khadija and provide for something like it, until the truth came to him while he was in Cave Har, and the king came to him and said, “Read.” Then he sent me and said, “Read.” I said, “I am not a reader,” so he took me and pressed me for the second time until I was exhausted, then he sent me and said, “Read,” and I said, “I am not a reader.” Then he took me and pressed me for the third time, then he sent me and said, “Read in the name of your Lord who created. He created man from a clot. Read. And your Lord is Most Generous, who taught with the pen. He taught man what he did not know.” So the Messenger of God, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, returned with it, his heart shaking. He went in to Khadija bint Khuwaylid, may God be pleased with her, and he said, “Zoom me, zum me.” So they hugged him until the fear went away from him, so he said to Khadija and told her the news, so he said, “I feared for myself.” Khadija, may God be pleased with her, said, “No, by God, God will never disgrace you. You are related to relatives, you bear all, you earn the poor, you treat the guest, and you help in the calamities of truth.”
When they wanted to place the stone, they quarreled over its placement, so they said, “The first one to leave this door is the one who puts it.” So the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, came out from before the gate of Bani Shaybah and ordered a garment to be spread out. He placed the stone in its middle. Then he ordered a man from each thigh of the Quraysh to take the side of the garment, so the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, took it in his hand and placed it.
ثم حبب الله إليه الخلوة والتعبد لربه وكان يخلو بغار حرا يتعبد فيه الليالي ذوات العدد وبغضت إليه الأوثان ودين قومه فلم يكن شيء أبغض إليه من ذلك
