A verse and its Tafsir.

Allah the Exalted says:

“There is not an animal in the earth, nor a flying creature flying on two wings, but they are peoples like unto you. We have neglected nothing in the Book (of Our decrees). Then unto their Lord they will be gathered.” (6:38)

Imam al-Khattabi, may Allah have mercy on him, said:

He, glorified and praised be He, informed us

that there is no matter of religion for which the Book did not provide an explanation.

That is, the Qur'an.

However, this explanation is of two types.

A manifest explanation, which the Book addresses explicitly.

And a latent explanation, which is encompassed by the meaning of the recitation.

This is the meaning of His, the Exalted's, statement:

“With clear proofs and writings; and We have revealed unto thee the Remembrance that thou mayst explain to mankind that which hath been revealed for them, and that haply they may reflect.” (16:44)
