Who would have expected that a human being, possessing most human traits,

would remain unbewitched by alluring, ostentatious wealth?

And that he would not be deceived by extravagant, sprawling riches?

Yet, when the occasion for such wealth arose,

he would use it to reconcile hearts,

to console souls,

and to strengthen groups.

That is the Messenger of Allah, the chosen Prophet.

On the authority of Anas, may Allah be pleased with him,

a man asked the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, for a flock of sheep filling the space between two mountains,

and he gave it to him.

The man returned to his people and said,

"O my people, embrace Islam!

For by Allah, Muhammad gives with the generosity of one who does not fear poverty."

"A man might embrace Islam desiring nothing but the world,

until Islam became dearer to him than the world and all that is in it."

That wealth, which often overwhelms the soul,

He would embrace them with wealth and gifts,

and then faith would blossom in their hearts,

until the religion of Allah became dearer to them than any wealth or status.

For true glory lies in increasing the number of Muslims

and cultivating followers in the truth.

As it is stated in the hadith:

"By Allah, for Allah to guide one man through you

is better for you than the best of camels."
