0:00 In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

0:04 Alif-Lam-Ra.

0:09 “Alif. Lam. Ra. These are verses of the Scripture and a plain Reading.” (15:1)

0:15 “It may be that those who disbelieve wish ardently that they were Muslims.” (15:2)

0:22 “Let them eat and enjoy life, and let (false) hope beguile them. They will come to know!” (15:3)

0:28 But they will soon come to know.

0:31 “And We destroyed no township but there was a known decree for it.” (15:4)

0:40 No community can advance its appointed term, nor can they delay it.

0:46 And they say, "O you upon whom the Reminder has been sent down, you are truly insane!

0:55 “Why bringest thou not angels unto us, if thou art of the truthful?” (15:7)

1:05 “We send not down the angels save with the Fact, and in that case (the disbelievers) would not be tolerated.” (15:8)

1:15 “Lo! We, even We, reveal the Reminder, and lo! We verily are its Guardian.” (15:9)

1:23 “We verily sent (messengers) before thee among the factions of the men of old.” (15:10)

1:30 “And never came there unto them a messenger but they did mock him.” (15:11)

1:38 “Thus do We make it traverse the hearts of the guilty:” (15:12)

1:44 “They believe not therein, though the example of the men of old hath gone before.” (15:13)

1:53 “And even if We opened unto them a gate of heaven and they kept mounting through it,” (15:14)

2:02 “They would say: Our sight is wrong - nay, but we are folk bewitched.” (15:15)

2:12 And We have certainly placed constellations in the sky and adorned it for the onlookers.

2:22 “And We have guarded it from every outcast devil,” (15:17)

2:29 “Save him who stealeth the hearing, and them doth a clear flame pursue.” (15:18)

2:37 “And the earth have We spread out, and placed therein firm hills, and caused each seemly thing to grow therein.” (15:19)

2:52 “And we have given unto you livelihoods therein, and unto those for whom ye provide not.” (15:20)

3:00 “And there is not a thing but with Us are the stores thereof. And we send it not down save in appointed measure.” (15:21)

3:18 “And We send the winds fertilising, and cause water to descend from the sky, and give it you to drink. It is not ye who are the holders of the store thereof.” (15:22)

3:33 “Lo! and it is We, even We, Who quicken and give death, and We are the Inheritor.” (15:23)

3:41 “And verily We know the eager among you and verily We know the laggards.” (15:24)

3:50 “Lo! thy Lord will gather them together. Lo! He is Wise, Aware.” (15:25)

3:59 “Verily We created man of potter's clay of black mud altered,” (15:26)

4:09 “And the jinn did We create aforetime of essential fire.” (15:27)

4:19 “And (remember) when thy Lord said unto the angels: Lo! I am creating a mortal out of potter's clay of black mud altered,” (15:28)

4:36 So when I have fashioned him and breathed into him of My [created] soul, fall down in prostration to him."

4:44 So the angels prostrated—all of them together—

4:52 “Save Iblis. He refused to be among the prostrate.” (15:31)

4:59 Allah said, "O Iblis, what is the matter with you that you are not among those who prostrate?"

5:06 “He said: I am not one to prostrate myself unto a mortal whom Thou hast created out of potter's clay of black mud altered!” (15:33)

5:22 Allah said, "Then get out of here, for you are indeed accursed.

5:27 “And lo! the curse shall be upon thee till the Day of Judgment.” (15:35)

5:34 He said, "My Lord, then grant me respite until the Day they are resurrected."

5:41 Allah said, "You are indeed among those granted respite,

5:47 until the Day of the known time."

5:51 “He said: My Lord! Because Thou hast sent me astray, I verily shall adorn the path of error for them in the earth, and shall mislead them every one,” (15:39)

6:02 "and I will surely mislead them all,

6:07 except Your chosen, devoted servants among them."

6:11 “He said: This is a right course incumbent upon Me:” (15:41)

6:16 “Lo! as for My slaves, thou hast no power over any of them save such of the froward as follow thee,” (15:42)

6:26 “And lo! for all such, hell will be the promised place.” (15:43)

6:33 “It hath seven gates, and each gate hath an appointed portion.” (15:44)

6:41 Indeed, the righteous will be in gardens and springs.

6:50 "Enter them in peace and security!"

6:55 “And We remove whatever rancour may be in their breasts. As brethren, face to face, (they rest) on couches raised.” (15:47)

7:07 “Toil cometh not unto them there, nor will they be expelled from thence.” (15:48)

7:14 “Announce, (O Muhammad) unto My slaves that verily I am the Forgiving, the Merciful,” (15:49)

7:22 “And that My doom is the dolorous doom.” (15:50)

7:28 “And tell them of Abraham's guests,” (15:51)

7:33 “(How) when they came in unto him, and said: Peace. He said: Lo! we are afraid of you.” (15:52)

7:42 They said, "Do not fear! Indeed, we bring you good tidings of a knowledgeable boy."

7:49 “He said: Bring ye me good tidings (of a son) when old age hath overtaken me? Of what then can ye bring good tidings?” (15:54)

7:57 “They said: We bring thee good tidings in truth. So be not thou of the despairing.” (15:55)

8:04 He said, "And who despairs of the mercy of his Lord except those who are astray?"

8:14 He said, "What then is your mission, O messengers?"

8:20 They said, "Indeed, we have been sent to a criminal people,

8:27 except the family of Lot; we will surely save them all,

8:33 “Except his wife, of whom We had decreed that she should be of those who stay behind.” (15:60)

8:40 “And when the messengers came unto the family of Lot,” (15:61)

8:46 “He said: Lo! ye are folk unknown (to me).” (15:62)

8:51 “They said: Nay, but we bring thee that concerning which they keep disputing,” (15:63)

8:57 “And bring thee the Truth, and lo! we are truth-tellers.” (15:64)

9:04 “So travel with thy household in a portion of the night, and follow thou their backs. Let none of you turn round, but go whither ye are commanded.” (15:65)

9:13 and let not any of you look back, and proceed to where you are commanded."

9:20 “And We made plain the case to him, that the root of them (who did wrong) was to be cut at early morn.” (15:66)

9:30 “And the people of the city came, rejoicing at the news (of new arrivals).” (15:67)

9:36 “He said: Lo! they are my guests. Affront me not!” (15:68)

9:43 “And keep your duty to Allah, and shame me not!” (15:69)

9:47 “They said; Have we not forbidden you from (entertaining) anyone?” (15:70)

9:52 “He said: Here are my daughters, if ye must be doing (so).” (15:71)

9:59 “By thy life (O Muhammad) they moved blindly in the frenzy of approaching death.” (15:72)

10:06 So the blast seized them at sunrise.

10:10 “And We utterly confounded them, and We rained upon them stones of heated clay.” (15:74)

10:24 “Lo! therein verily are portents for those who read the signs.” (15:75)

10:31 And indeed, they were on an established road.

10:36 Surely in that is a sign for the believers.

10:42 “And the dwellers in the wood indeed were evil-doers.” (15:78)

10:48 So We took retribution upon them, and indeed, both were on an open highway.

10:56 “And the dwellers in Al-Hijr denied (Our) messengers.” (15:80)

11:01 “And we gave them Our revelations, but they were averse to them.” (15:81)

11:07 And they used to carve secure homes out of the mountains.

11:13 But the blast seized them by morning.

11:18 And all that they used to earn availed them nothing.

11:24 “We created not the heavens and the earth and all that is between them save with truth, and lo! the Hour is surely coming. So forgive, (O Muhammad), with a gracious forgiveness.” (15:85)

11:32 And the Hour is surely coming.

11:37 So overlook [their faults] with graceful pardon.

11:41 “Lo! Thy Lord! He is the All-Wise Creator.” (15:86)

11:48 “We have given thee seven of the oft-repeated (verses) and the great Qur'an.” (15:87)

11:55 Do not extend your eyes toward that by which We have given enjoyment to [various] categories of them,

12:03 and do not grieve over them, and lower your wing [in mercy] to the believers.

12:12 “And say: Lo! I, even I, am a plain warner,” (15:89)

12:18 “Such as We send down for those who make division,” (15:90)

12:25 who have torn the Qur'an into parts.

12:30 So by your Lord, We will surely question them all

12:36 about what they used to do.

12:41 “So proclaim that which thou art commanded, and withdraw from the idolaters.” (15:94)

12:48 Indeed, We are sufficient for you against the mockers,

12:54 who make another deity alongside Allah;

13:00 but they will soon come to know.

13:04 “Well know We that thy bosom is oppressed by what they say,” (15:97)

13:12 So glorify the praise of your Lord and be among those who prostrate,

13:20 and worship your Lord until certainty comes to you.
