1:59 "And We made the son of Maryam and his mother a sign."
2:06 “And We made the son of Mary and his mother a portent, and We gave them refuge on a height, a place of flocks and watersprings.” (23:50)
2:18 Ibn Jarir Al-Tabari, may Allah have mercy on him, said:

2:23 "And We made Maryam and her son a lesson for the people of their time."
2:28 They take heed from them and reflect upon their affair.
2:32 Thus they come to know the greatness of Our authority and Our power over whatever We will.

2:41 The Almighty says, informing us about His servant and messenger ‘Isa, son of Maryam, peace be upon them both:
2:47 That He made them a sign for the people.

2:56 For He created Adam without a father or a mother.
3:00 And He created Hawwa’ from a male without a female.
3:04 And He created ‘Isa from a female without a male.
3:07 And He created the rest of humanity from a male and a female.
3:12 The purpose of the story of Maryam is to reflect upon its events.
3:17 And to take lessons from it.
3:19 And to realize the greatness of Allah’s authority and His proof over humanity.
3:25 Allah set forth Maryam as an example for the faith of the believers in Allah.
3:30 And in what He has commanded and ordained.
3:32 The Exalted said:
3:35 "And Allah presents an example of those who believed: the wife of Pharaoh..."
3:40 “And Allah citeth an example for those who believe: the wife of Pharaoh when she said: My Lord! Build for me a home with thee in the Garden, and deliver me from Pharaoh and his work, and deliver me from evil-doing folk;” (66:11)
3:49 “And Allah citeth an example for those who believe: the wife of Pharaoh when she said: My Lord! Build for me a home with thee in the Garden, and deliver me from Pharaoh and his work, and deliver me from evil-doing folk;” (66:11)

5:11 And as for the third, the lack of connection does not harm her in the slightest.
5:17 Furthermore, these parables contain subtle secrets that befit the context of the surah.
5:23 For it was revealed regarding the wives of the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him.
5:28 And as a warning against their ganging up against him.
5:31 And that if they do not obey Allah and His Messenger and desire the Hereafter,
5:37 Their connection to the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, will not benefit them.
5:42 Just as the connection of the wives of Nuh and Lut to them did not benefit them.
5:47 Therefore, in this surah, He only set forth the example of the connection of marriage, not kinship.
5:54 Yahya Ibn Salam said:
5:56 Allah set forth the first example,
5:59 Warning ‘A’ishah and Hafsah.
6:02 Then He set forth the second example for them,
6:04 Urging them to hold fast to obedience.
6:08 In setting forth Maryam as an example for the believers, there is also,
6:12 Another consideration.
6:14 Which is that the slander of the enemies of Allah, the Jews, against her did not harm her in the sight of Allah at all.
6:21 Nor did their attributing to her and her son that which Allah declared them innocent of.
6:26 Despite her being the greatest truthful woman, chosen over the women of the worlds.
6:31 Thus, the slander of the wicked and the immoral does not harm a righteous person.
6:37 In this, there is consolation for ‘A’ishah, Mother of the Believers.
6:41 If the surah was revealed after the incident of the slander (Al-Ifk).
6:45 Or preparing her soul for what the liars said about her, if it was before it.
6:51 Just as in the mention of the example of the wives of Nuh and Lut,
6:54 There is a warning to her and to Hafsah regarding what they had resolved to do against the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him.
7:02 These parables thus contained a warning and a threat to them.
7:06 And an incitement to obedience and monotheism.
7:10 And consolation and fortitude for whoever among them was harmed and lied about.
7:15 The secrets of the revelation are above and more majestic than this.
7:19 Especially the secrets of the parables, which only those who possess knowledge can understand.
7:25 In this fourth Ramadan series,
7:29 We will address the story of Maryam, by the power and success granted by Allah.
7:34 And the lessons and admonitions contained therein.
7:37 We ask the Lord, the Almighty and Majestic, to benefit us through it.
7:41 And to rectify our conditions through studying it.
7:45 And praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds.
