A woman came to the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, while we were with him, and she said, O Messenger of God, my husband Safwan bin Al-Mu’tal beats me when I pray and breaks my fast when I fast, and does not pray the dawn prayer until the sun rises. He said, Safwan is with him. He said, so he asked him what she said, and he said, O Messenger of God, as for her saying, “He beats me when I pray,” she recites two surahs, and I forbade her. He said, “If it were one surah, it would be enough for the people.” As for her saying, “It breaks my fast,” she starts fasting, and I am a young man, so I cannot be patient. So the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, said. On that day, a woman would not fast except with her husband’s permission. As for her saying, “I do not pray until the sun rises,” we are a household that has been known to us. We hardly wake up until the sun rises. He said, “So if I wake up, pray.”

When the Messenger of God, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, came and the women helped each other, Aisha said, “I have not seen anything like what is done to believing women because her skin is greener than her dress.” He said, “And he heard that she had come to the Messenger of God, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, and he came with two sons of his from another woman.” She said, “By God, I have no fault with him except that with him, he is no better off than me in this.” And she took a fringe from her dress, so he said. You have lied, by God, O Messenger of God. I will shake it off as I shake it off, but it is defiant and wants to be raised. Then the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, said, “If that is the case, then you will not sweeten it for him or you will not make it good for him until he tastes of your honey.” He said, and he saw two sons of his with him, and he said, “These are your sons.” He said, “Yes.” He said, “This is what you claim as you claim. By God, to them, it is more like a crow to a crow.”
