0:15 O Eve.

0:17 Allah the Exalted said, in reflection upon the story of our mother Eve:

0:22 “O Children of Adam! Let not Satan seduce you as he caused your (first) parents to go forth from the Garden and tore off from them their robe (of innocence) that he might manifest their shame to them. Lo! he seeth you, he and his tribe, from whence ye see him not. Lo! We have made the devils protecting friends for those who believe not.” (7:27)

1:07 Satan has a trial with which he tempts humanity.

1:12 And he has allies who take him as a patron instead of Allah.

1:16 The way to be protected from this trial,

1:19 And from falling into taking him as an ally,

1:21 Allah has clarified for us in His Book,

1:24 In reflection upon the story of our mother Eve,

1:28 In every passage where the story is mentioned.

1:31 Ibn Kathir, may Allah have mercy on him, said:

1:34 The Exalted warns the children of Adam against Iblis and his tribe,

1:38 Clarifying for them his ancient enmity toward the father of humanity, Adam, peace be upon him,

1:44 In his striving to expel him from Paradise,

1:47 Which is the abode of bliss, to the abode of toil and hardship,

1:52 And causing the exposure of his private parts,

1:55 After they had been hidden from him.

1:58 This is nothing but the result of deep-seated enmity.

2:02 The first method of protection

2:05 Is realizing Iblis’s enmity toward you,

2:07 And that it is a deep-rooted enmity

2:10 That time will not change for your sake.

2:13 Nor will you have any special exemption

2:16 From the sphere of his enmity.

2:18 The Exalted said:

2:20 “Lo! the devil is an enemy for you, so treat him as an enemy. He only summoneth his faction to be owners of the flaming Fire.” (35:6)

2:26 The way of protection is to treat him as an enemy, just as he treats us as an enemy.

2:31 Al-Sa'di, may Allah have mercy on him, said:

2:33 The Exalted says, warning the children of Adam

2:36 Lest Satan do to them what he did to their father,

2:40 “O Children of Adam! Let not Satan seduce you as he caused your (first) parents to go forth from the Garden and tore off from them their robe (of innocence) that he might manifest their shame to them. Lo! he seeth you, he and his tribe, from whence ye see him not. Lo! We have made the devils protecting friends for those who believe not.” (7:27)

2:44 By beautifying disobedience for you,

2:47 Calling you to it, and making you desire it,

2:50 Until you submit to him.

2:52 “O Children of Adam! Let not Satan seduce you as he caused your (first) parents to go forth from the Garden and tore off from them their robe (of innocence) that he might manifest their shame to them. Lo! he seeth you, he and his tribe, from whence ye see him not. Lo! We have made the devils protecting friends for those who believe not.” (7:27)

2:56 He brought them down from the high station to a lower one,

3:01 And he wishes to do the same to you.

3:04 He will not spare any effort to tempt you if he can.

3:09 Therefore, you must keep caution against him in your mind,

3:13 And don the armor of war between you and him,

3:17 And never be heedless of the avenues through which he enters to reach you.

3:22 The means Satan uses with you, O Eve,

3:25 Is the beautification of sin.

3:27 He makes it appear good to you until you believe it is the truth,

3:32 And that everything else is falsehood.

3:34 So you defend it, and thus become one of the allies of Satan.

3:39 The way to be protected from this satanic means

3:44 Is absolute submission to the command of Allah,

3:47 Adherence to the obedience of Allah and His Messenger,

3:50 And abandoning sins.

3:53 Abu Zahra, may Allah have mercy on him, said:

3:55 Allah the Exalted said, forbidding:

3:58 "Let not Satan tempt you."

4:01 The prohibition is directed at human beings,

4:03 And the tempter is Satan.

4:06 The prohibition was not directed at him,

4:08 Because he rebelled against the command of his Lord,

4:11 And departed, disgraced and cast out.

4:14 The prohibition was for the children of Adam,

4:16 Even though the actor is someone else,

4:19 Because the meaning of the prohibition then is:

4:21 Do not let him have power over you.

4:23 This is achieved by obeying Allah the Exalted alone,

4:26 And rejecting illusions and whims,

4:29 For they are the gateway of Satan.

4:31 If the door of illusion and whim is closed,

4:34 Then the paths of Satan are blocked,

4:37 And the command of the Most Merciful is established in the soul.

4:40 The fortress that protects the believer from

4:42 The trial of Satan

4:44 Is obedience to the commands of Allah the Exalted,

4:47 And strengthening one's resolve and will

4:50 To be an ally of the Most Merciful,

4:53 And to avoid taking anyone other than Allah the Exalted as an ally.

4:56 Among the means of Satan with you, O Eve,

5:01 Is occupying you with what does not benefit you in this world,

5:04 Nor in the Hereafter.

5:06 The least that can be said about this

5:09 Is that it is a waste of time.

5:11 Sometimes it leads to argumentation,

5:14 If it takes the form of a dialogue with others.

5:17 The matter may lead to habituation,

5:20 Strengthening the triviality in deeds and words.

5:23 Through the story of our mother Eve,

5:26 We learn that useful information

5:29 Is what we should occupy ourselves with.

5:33 As for other thoughts

5:35 That Satan casts into the soul,

5:38 The cure for them is to abandon them,

5:40 And not to occupy oneself with them,

5:42 Such as the name of the tree,

5:45 Or the place where they descended.

5:47 Adam and Eve

5:49 Then they met.

5:51 Ibn Kathir, may Allah have mercy on him, said:

5:54 The exegetes have mentioned the places

5:56 Where each of them descended.

5:59 The sum of those reports goes back to the Isra'iliyyat (narrations from the People of the Book),

6:03 And Allah knows best their authenticity.

6:06 If there were any benefit in specifying those locations

6:09 That would return to the accountable believers

6:11 Regarding their religion or their worldly affairs,

6:14 Allah the Exalted would have mentioned it in His Book.

6:17 Peace and blessings of Allah be upon him.

6:19 O Eve,

6:22 Allah the Almighty

6:24 Said in the remainder of the verse,

6:26 Clarifying the characteristic of those who take Satan as an ally:

6:29 "We have made the devils..."

6:32 “O Children of Adam! Let not Satan seduce you as he caused your (first) parents to go forth from the Garden and tore off from them their robe (of innocence) that he might manifest their shame to them. Lo! he seeth you, he and his tribe, from whence ye see him not. Lo! We have made the devils protecting friends for those who believe not.” (7:27)

6:35 Al-Sa'di, may Allah have mercy on him, said:

6:39 Lack of faith

6:41 Is what necessitates the contract of alliance

6:43 Between man and Satan.

6:45 The Exalted said:

6:47 “Lo! he hath no power over those who believe and put trust in their Lord.” (16:99)

6:51 "And upon their Lord they rely."

6:54 “His power is only over those who make a friend of him, and those who ascribe partners unto Him (Allah).” (16:100)

6:58 “His power is only over those who make a friend of him, and those who ascribe partners unto Him (Allah).” (16:100)

7:01 O Eve,

7:04 Faith increases with obedience,

7:07 And decreases with disobedience.

7:09 The more your faith increases,

7:11 The closer you are to Allah.

7:13 And the more your faith decreases,

7:15 The closer Satan draws to you,

7:17 Even more.

7:19 So seize this blessed month,

7:21 In which the devils are chained,

7:24 The gates of Paradise are opened,

7:27 And in which mercies descend.

7:30 The caller of faith has called out to you:

7:32 O you who desire good in this world and the Hereafter,

7:36 Turn to a Merciful Lord

7:39 Who forgives the sins of those who seek forgiveness,

7:41 No matter how great they are,

7:43 And rewards the doers for their deeds,

7:46 No matter how small they are,

7:48 And multiplies good deeds,

7:50 And forgives slips.

7:52 O Eve,

7:55 You must give charity,

7:57 For it shields you from the Fire,

7:59 And disturbs Satan.

8:01 The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said:

8:05 "No man brings out anything in charity

8:09 But that seventy devils are loosened from it."

8:13 Narrated by Ahmad.

8:15 Imagine,

8:17 All this number standing in your way

8:20 To prevent you from giving charity.

8:22 Will you respond to them?

8:25 We will continue in a future meeting, if Allah wills.

8:29 And praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds.
