0:14 Regarding the story of our mother Hawwa.

0:16 Allah the Almighty recounts for us the whispering of Satan to her and to our father Adam, peace be upon him.

0:22 Allah the Almighty said:

0:25 "Then Satan whispered to them to reveal to them..."

0:29 “Then Satan whispered to them that he might manifest unto them that which was hidden from them of their shame, and he said: Your Lord forbade you from this tree only lest ye should become angels or become of the immortals.” (7:20)

0:33 “Then Satan whispered to them that he might manifest unto them that which was hidden from them of their shame, and he said: Your Lord forbade you from this tree only lest ye should become angels or become of the immortals.” (7:20)

0:38 "...unless you become angels,"

0:47 "...or become of the immortals."

0:51 So, what is the whispering of Satan?

0:54 Do the devils among mankind use it as well?

0:57 And how do we detect it?

1:00 Al-Tahir Ibn 'Ashur, may Allah have mercy on him, said:

1:03 "Whispering (waswasa)..."

1:05 "...is speech spoken in secret, heard only by the one close to the speaker."

1:11 This is one of the signs of whispering.

1:15 Among its other signs as well,

1:18 is what Al-Tahir Ibn 'Ashur mentioned when he said:

1:21 "Satan’s suggestion is called 'whispering'..."

1:25 "...because he cast into them a subtle enticement through speech he directed at them,"

1:30 "...or an agitation within their own selves,"

1:33 "...like the behavior of a deceitful, cunning swindler,"

1:36 "...who hides his words from those present,"

1:39 "...so that they do not spoil his deception by exposing its harms."

1:43 Thus, he cast words to them in the form of hushed speech,

1:47 to delude them into thinking he was a sincere advisor to them,

1:51 and that he was whispering out of discretion.

1:54 This is another sign.

1:56 It is that Satan, in his whispering,

1:59 does not speak in the presence of everyone,

2:03 because he knows there are those who would expose this whispering.

2:07 So he only speaks in the presence of those who cannot refute him,

2:13 or he ensures those who would expose the truths of the devils are absent in the depths of prisons.

2:18 Then he unleashes the media,

2:21 which plays the role of Satan,

2:24 to corrupt people's lives and lead them astray.

2:28 The third important sign

2:30 is that he presents himself in the guise of a sincere advisor.

2:34 Iblis did this with our father Adam and our mother Hawwa.

2:40 And Pharaoh did it when confronting the call of the Prophet of Allah, Musa (Moses), peace be upon him.

2:45 Allah the Almighty said:

2:47 “And Pharaoh said: Suffer me to kill Moses, and let him cry unto his Lord. Lo! I fear that he will alter your religion or that he will cause confusion in the land.” (40:26)

2:52 “And Pharaoh said: Suffer me to kill Moses, and let him cry unto his Lord. Lo! I fear that he will alter your religion or that he will cause confusion in the land.” (40:26)

3:00 Thus, the justification for killing Musa and the callers to the truth exists in every age,

3:05 and it is: "I fear for you and for your religion,"

3:08 while they are the ones corrupting your entire life.

3:12 So, how can you protect yourself from the whispering of the devils among jinn and mankind?

3:17 Sayyid Qutb, may Allah have mercy on him, said:

3:20 "As for the whispering of Satan,"

3:22 "we do not know how it occurs,"

3:24 "because we do not know the essence of Satan,"

3:28 "so that we might grasp the modalities of his actions,"

3:31 "or his connection to man,"

3:33 "and the manner of his seduction."

3:36 "However, we know through the truthful report,"

3:39 "which is the only reliable source we have regarding this unseen realm,"

3:44 "that seduction toward evil,"

3:46 "occurs in one form or another,"

3:49 "and that the suggestion to commit the forbidden,"

3:51 "takes place in one manner or another."

3:55 "And that this suggestion and that seduction,"

3:58 "rely on the innate points of weakness in man."

4:03 "And that this weakness,"

4:05 "can be guarded against through faith and dhikr (remembrance of Allah),"

4:08 "until Satan has no authority over the believer who is constant in remembrance,"

4:13 "and his weak plot has no effect at that point."

4:19 For faith in Allah and frequent remembrance,

4:22 are the path to salvation from the devils of jinn and mankind.

4:26 Allah the Almighty said:

4:28 “And when thou recitest the Qur'an, seek refuge in Allah from Satan the outcast.” (16:98)

4:35 “Lo! he hath no power over those who believe and put trust in their Lord.” (16:99)

4:44 “His power is only over those who make a friend of him, and those who ascribe partners unto Him (Allah).” (16:100)

4:54 But how can you detect the whispering of the devils among jinn and mankind?

5:00 Be alert, O Hawwa,

5:03 to the style of address the devils among jinn and mankind use with you.

5:08 They use the same method Iblis used with our father Adam and our mother Hawwa.

5:14 As Allah said about Iblis:

5:17 “And he swore unto them (saying): Lo! I am a sincere adviser unto you.” (7:21)

5:22 Al-Tahir Ibn 'Ashur, may Allah have mercy on him, said:

5:26 "His emphasis in informing them that he was a sincere advisor to them, using three forms of emphasis,"

5:31 "is evidence of the extent of Adam and his wife's doubt regarding his sincerity toward them,"

5:36 "and the signs of hesitation he saw in them regarding his truthfulness."

5:41 He only doubted his sincerity,

5:43 because they found what he was commanding them to do,

5:46 to be contrary to what Allah had commanded them,

5:49 whose desire for their well-being they knew by innate nature.

5:55 One of the most dangerous methods of the devils among jinn and mankind against you and all people,

6:01 is the falsification of facts.

6:03 It is deception (talbis).

6:05 It is what Iblis did with our father Adam and our mother Hawwa.

6:11 Ibn Jarir al-Tabari said:

6:14 "That whispering,"

6:15 "was his saying to them,"

6:18 “Then Satan whispered to them that he might manifest unto them that which was hidden from them of their shame, and he said: Your Lord forbade you from this tree only lest ye should become angels or become of the immortals.” (7:20)

6:24 "...or become of the immortals."

6:27 And his swearing an oath to them regarding that.

6:30 And Al-Tahir Ibn 'Ashur, may Allah have mercy on him, said:

6:33 "Iblis deluded Adam and his wife,"

6:36 "that they were capable of becoming angels,"

6:41 "if they ate from the tree."

6:44 "This is part of his trickery and deception,"

6:47 "as Adam and his wife were not insightful regarding the realities of things,"

6:53 "nor did they know the extent possible in the transformation of entities and the evolution of existents."

7:00 "They used to witness the favor of the angels in the sight of Allah the Almighty,"

7:04 "and their proximity and the extent of their power."

7:08 "So Iblis tempted them to become angels,"

7:12 "if they ate from the tree."

7:15 All Iblis did was falsify the truth.

7:19 He clothed the truth in the garment of falsehood,

7:22 and falsehood in the garment of truth.

7:25 Satan did not come to say to man:

7:28 "Eat from the forbidden tree,"

7:30 "so that Allah becomes angry with you,"

7:32 "and expels you from your paradise,"

7:34 "and casts you down to the abode of misery."

7:37 Rather, he said to him:

7:39 "In eating from the tree lies your happiness, your bliss, and your good."

7:44 He said to him:

7:46 "If you eat from the tree,"

7:48 "you will attain great dominion,"

7:50 "and eternal life,"

7:52 "and you will be transformed into an angel that cannot perish."

7:57 And as an increase in leading them astray and further deception of Adam,

8:01 he swore to him and his wife that he was truthful in what he said,

8:06 and that he was a sincere advisor to them,

8:09 offering them good,

8:11 and guiding them to the true path.

8:14 So beware, O Hawwa, of the deception of the devils among jinn and mankind against you.

8:20 We will continue in a future meeting, if Allah wills.

8:24 And praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds.
