The story of Joseph and the wife of Al-Aziz | Episode (24) | God does not guide the plots of traitors

0:00 In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful.

0:04 The story of Yusuf, peace be upon him,

0:07 with the wife of al-Aziz:

0:10 “(Then Joseph said: I asked for) this, that he (my lord) may know that I betrayed him not in secret, and that surely Allah guideth not the snare of the betrayers.” (12:52)

0:16 the wife of al-Aziz confessed to her sin

0:19 before the king and his courtiers,

0:21 and she praised Yusuf, peace be upon him,

0:23 for his integrity, chastity, and truthfulness.

0:27 Then she explained the reason for her statement by saying:

0:30 "That is so he may know that I

0:32 did not betray him in his absence."

0:34 “(Then Joseph said: I asked for) this, that he (my lord) may know that I betrayed him not in secret, and that surely Allah guideth not the snare of the betrayers.” (12:52)

0:39 She was deeply moved by the stance of Yusuf, peace be upon him,

0:42 and by the prophetic morals manifested

0:45 in his dealings with her and with others,

0:48 such that everyone around him described him

0:50 as being among the doers of good.

0:52 This transformed her attitude

0:55 and her past conduct,

0:57 so she resolved to repent and confess

0:59 the truth that she had once tried

1:02 to conceal from people

1:04 by imprisoning Yusuf, peace be upon him.

1:06 She also wished to convey

1:08 a subtle message

1:10 to Yusuf, peace be upon him,

1:12 by which she might preserve for herself

1:14 a measure of esteem in the eyes of this

1:16 chaste, pure, and truthful young man

1:18 who had never once paid attention

1:20 at any time

1:22 to all her seductions.

1:24 She wanted to convey to Yusuf,

1:26 peace be upon him, that she

1:28 had repented of her deeds,

1:30 acknowledged her sin,

1:32 and spoken the truth,

1:34 in the hope that he might forgive her

1:36 for the harm she had inflicted upon him

1:38 and retain some measure

1:40 of respect and regard for her in his heart.

1:42 The wife of al-Aziz said:

1:44 "That is so he may know..."

1:46 for she wanted him to know

1:48 and for the news of this gathering

1:50 and what transpired within it to reach him,

1:52 even though she knew

1:54 that he was absent from the gathering

1:56 and could not hear her words.

1:58 Yet she hoped that the message

2:00 would be conveyed to him,

2:02 for she knew from experience her society's habit

2:04 of spreading news and divulging

2:06 secrets, so she was confident

2:08 that those present in this gathering

2:10 would relay the news to

2:12 Yusuf, peace be upon him,

2:14 concerning what she had said and declared

2:16 and confessed against herself,

2:18 hoping that he might forgive her

2:20 for what she had done.

2:23 The wife of al-Aziz realized,

2:25 through those years she had lived

2:27 with Yusuf

2:29 and the events that unfolded therein,

2:31 as well as the plots she had devised

2:33 to harm Yusuf, peace be upon him,

2:35 she realized that

2:37 “(Then Joseph said: I asked for) this, that he (my lord) may know that I betrayed him not in secret, and that surely Allah guideth not the snare of the betrayers.” (12:52)

2:39 the treacherous never succeed.

2:41 The wife of al-Aziz came to realize

2:43 the gravity of betrayal and harming

2:45 the innocent. She had betrayed

2:47 her husband by attempting to seduce Yusuf,

2:49 peace be upon him, yet Allah exposed her;

2:51 and she had accused

2:53 Yusuf of seducing her,

2:55 yet Allah laid bare her lie.

2:57 She realized that using

2:59 plots for evil ends

3:01 would inevitably backfire on her,

3:03 sooner or later;

3:05 for Allah does not guide

3:07 the plot of the betrayers.

3:09 She had plotted against Yusuf

3:11 to lure him into immorality,

3:13 but Allah protected him from her,

3:15 and she failed.

3:17 Then she plotted against him before al-Aziz

3:19 to accuse him of the crime,

3:21 but the plot backfired on her,

3:23 and al-Aziz realized that she

3:25 was the guilty one and that this

3:27 was part of her plotting.

3:29 Then she plotted against him alongside the women

3:31 to compel him to yield to her desire,

3:33 yet Allah averted their plot

3:35 from him and shielded him.

3:37 Then she plotted against him by imprisoning him

3:39 to cover up her scandal

3:41 within her society,

3:43 but her affair—and that of the women

3:45 with her—was exposed before the king

3:47 and his court.

3:49 In light of such events,

3:51 a prudent person reflects upon the path

3:53 he is treading:

3:55 is it the right path

3:57 or not?

3:59 And this is what the wife of al-Aziz realized:

4:01 that if she were to lie in this

4:03 situation, Allah,

4:05 Mighty and Majestic, would expose her

4:07 and cause her plot to recoil upon her,

4:09 just as had happened to her

4:11 before.

4:13 So she resolved to speak the truth,

4:15 saying:

4:17 "Now the truth has become manifest;

4:19 it was I who sought to seduce him,

4:21 and he is indeed of the truthful.

4:23 That is so he may know..."

4:25 “(Then Joseph said: I asked for) this, that he (my lord) may know that I betrayed him not in secret, and that surely Allah guideth not the snare of the betrayers.” (12:52)

4:27 and that Allah

4:29 “(Then Joseph said: I asked for) this, that he (my lord) may know that I betrayed him not in secret, and that surely Allah guideth not the snare of the betrayers.” (12:52)

4:31 Indeed, the mercy of Allah

4:34 encompasses His righteous servants,

4:36 and no one has ever plotted

4:38 against them or against Islam

4:40 with evil intent except that Allah exposed

4:42 through his deeds that which disgraced him

4:44 before all the worlds,

4:46 to serve as a proof against anyone who adopts

4:48 a stance like that of the women

4:50 who had cut their hands,

4:52 who tried to manipulate

4:54 their words to cover up

4:56 the affair of the wife of al-Aziz

4:58 and their own conduct

5:00 in supporting her and assisting

5:02 her in achieving her desire

5:04 of seducing Yusuf.

5:06 And Allah,

5:08 Glorified and Exalted, has shown us

5:10 many similar examples in our own time,

5:12 so that we might perhaps

5:14 return to our senses.

5:16 Allah has exposed to us the plotting of those who

5:18 cloak themselves in the mantle of Islam

5:20 and the defense of the religion,

5:22 demonstrating through their actions

5:24 and stances their deceit and hatred

5:26 toward the faith.

5:28 And Allah has disgraced those who played the role

5:30 of the city's women in supporting them,

5:32 aiding them in evil,

5:34 and opposing the innocent

5:36 among the scholars, callers to the faith,

5:38 and reformers.

5:40 Allah has exposed to us the machinations

5:42 of organizations that name themselves

5:44 and claim to defend

5:46 the interests of the Muslims

5:48 and the sanctities of the religion,

5:50 revealing that they are merely

5:52 politicized entities

5:54 working to polish the image of the corrupt

5:56 in the land,

5:58 while fighting the reformers

6:00 and failing to defend the sanctities of the Muslims.

6:03 Through these events, Allah has shown us

6:05 that which demonstrates the fulfillment

6:07 of this verse:

6:09 "And Allah does not guide

6:11 the plot of the betrayers."

6:13 And whatever the case may be,

6:15 no action is undertaken whereby

6:17 the spiteful seek to plot against Islam

6:19 and its sacred rites,

6:21 except that Allah thwarts their efforts

6:23 and disgraces them before all the worlds.
