For today is work and no reckoning, and tomorrow is reckoning and no work.

▶ A summary of the life of the Salaf between words and deeds | Episode (63) | Hope, and condemnation of greed and miserliness
The believer says to himself, “It is only three days. Yesterday has passed and tomorrow is hope. Perhaps you do not realize it. If you are one of the people of tomorrow, then tomorrow will bring sustenance. Without tomorrow there is a day and a night in which many souls will open. Perhaps you are the one who is in it. Enough of every day’s worry. Then you have burdened your weak heart with the worry of years and times, and the worry of prices and cheapness, and the worry of winter before winter comes and them of summer before summer comes. So what have you left of your weak heart for its hereafter? Every day decreases for the sake of it. It decreases for your sake, and you do not. You grieve and every day you are equal in your livelihood, and you do not grieve. You are given what suffices you. You ask for what overwhelms you. You are not satisfied with a little, nor with a lot you are satisfied. How can a world not be made aware of its ignorance when it is unable to be grateful for what it is in? Or how can one work for the hereafter whose lust for this world does not cease and whose hunger for it does not cease? It is all astonishing who believes in the abode of animals while seeking the abode of vanity.
