0:00 In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
0:05 It is Paradise.
0:09 The vision of Allah, the Exalted, in Paradise.
0:21 Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds.
0:27 And may peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad.
0:30 And upon all his family and companions, and thereafter:
0:34 O people of Paradise!
0:37 We have wandered together through the gardens of Paradise.
0:40 And we have learned of the everlasting bliss contained therein,
0:44 Which Allah has prepared for His righteous allies.
0:48 Yet, place all that has passed on one side of the scale,
0:52 And what I am about to tell you now,
0:55 Place it on the other.
0:59 Our discussion now is about the greatest and most perfect bliss,
1:02 A bliss that, once its sweetness is tasted,
1:05 Makes one forget every other delight in Paradise.
1:08 For no one in Paradise has been given
1:11 Anything greater than this bliss.
1:14 It is none other than gazing upon the Face of Allah, the Exalted and Generous,
1:17 And hearing His speech,
1:20 And the coolness of the eyes in being near to Him.
1:23 For every pleasure in this world and the Hereafter
1:26 Does not compare in the slightest
1:29 To this pleasure, ever.
1:32 Even the smallest, most trivial portion of His pleasure, the Exalted,
1:35 Is greater than the Gardens and all they contain,
1:38 Just as our Lord, the Exalted, has informed us
1:41 Himself, saying:
1:44 “Allah promiseth to the believers, men and women, Gardens underneath which rivers flow, wherein they will abide - blessed dwellings in Gardens of Eden. And - greater (far)! - acceptance from Allah. That is the supreme triumph.” (9:72)
1:47 And the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, informed us,
1:51 Saying that He, glory be to Him,
1:54 When He manifests,
1:57 And they see His Face clearly,
2:00 They will forget all the bliss they are in.
2:04 Our Lord,
2:07 Who created us from nothingness,
2:10 And provided us with blessings,
2:13 And protected us in this world of hardship,
2:16 And sustained us without any power or strength of our own,
2:19 Our Lord, to whom we have long turned,
2:22 And He sheltered us,
2:25 And we sought Him, and He gave us,
2:28 And we hoped in Him, and He did not disappoint our hope.
2:31 Our Lord, whom we worshipped and prayed to,
2:34 And for whom we made our religion sincere.
2:37 Our Lord, who said—how we have longed to see Him
2:41 And hear His speech!
2:44 Now, in Paradise,
2:47 We shall see our Lord, O my companions.
2:50 When we enter Paradise,
2:53 We shall attain the great vision therein,
2:56 The vision that is the greatest of all visions,
3:00 And the goal toward which those who strive
3:03 Have striven,
3:06 And for which the competitors have competed,
3:09 And of which those who are veiled from their Lord are deprived,
3:12 And from His door are turned away.
3:15 Some people asked, saying:
3:19 "O Messenger of Allah,
3:22 Shall we see our Lord on the Day of Resurrection?"
3:25 He, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said:
3:28 "Do you have any doubt in seeing the moon on the night of the full moon,
3:31 When there is no cloud obscuring it?"
3:34 They said, "No, O Messenger of Allah."
3:37 He said, "Do you doubt the sun,
3:40 When there is no cloud obscuring it?"
3:43 They said, "No." He said,
3:46 "Then you shall see Him likewise."
3:49 And the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, informed us,
3:52 Saying: "When the people of Paradise enter,
3:55 Allah, Blessed and Exalted be He, will say:
3:58 'Do you wish for anything more that I may increase for you?'
4:01 They will say:
4:04 'Has He not brightened our faces?
4:07 Has He not admitted us to Paradise,
4:10 And saved us from the Fire?'
4:13 Then the veil will be lifted,
4:16 And they will not have been given anything dearer to them
4:19 Than gazing upon their Lord, the Almighty and Majestic."
4:23 “For those who do good is the best (reward) and more (thereto). Neither dust nor ignominy cometh near their faces. Such are rightful owners of the Garden; they will abide therein.” (10:26)
4:26 "No darkness or humiliation will cover their faces."
4:29 (This refers to the believers).
4:32 Those are the people of Paradise,
4:35 They will abide therein forever.
4:42 And the 'best' (al-husna) in this verse
4:45 Is Paradise,
4:48 And the 'increase' (al-ziyadah) is the gaze upon the Face of the Most Merciful,
4:51 In His majesty and the holiness of His names.
4:54 And there is nothing between the people and seeing their Lord
4:58 Except the mantle of pride
5:01 Upon His Face in the Garden of Eden.
5:04 And along with this vision,
5:07 Our Lord, the Almighty and Majestic, speaks to us,
5:10 With no translator between us and Him.
5:13 How delicious is this speech!
5:16 And oh, the delight of that hearing!
5:19 Yes, we are in Paradise,
5:22 We hear the speech of the angels,
5:25 As they welcome and greet us,
5:28 And we hear the speech of the people of Paradise,
5:31 But our hearing
5:34 Of the speech of Allah and His addressing us
5:37 Is more delicious, more delightful,
5:40 And greater and sweeter to our souls.
5:43 And this speech, as Allah, the Exalted, described it:
5:47 “The word from a Merciful Lord (for them) is: Peace!” (36:58)
5:50 The Exalted says:
5:53 "O people of Paradise!"
5:57 And they will say:
6:00 "At Your service, our Lord, and at Your command,
6:03 And all good is in Your hands."
6:06 He will say: "Are you satisfied?"
6:09 They will say: "And why should we
6:12 Not be satisfied, O Lord,
6:15 When You have not given anyone among Your creation [what You have given us]?"
6:19 He will say: "Shall I not give you
6:22 Something better than that?"
6:25 They will say: "O Lord,
6:28 And what thing is better than that?"
6:31 He will say: "I bestow upon you
6:34 My pleasure, so I shall never be angry with you
6:37 After it, ever."
6:40 What do you think of our state on that day,
6:43 When our faces are radiant with splendor and beauty,
6:46 And majesty and glory?
6:49 Did Allah, the Exalted, not say:
6:52 "Faces, that Day, will be radiant,
6:55 Looking toward their Lord"?
6:58 The caller will call out:
7:01 "O people of Paradise, your Lord,
7:04 Blessed and Exalted be He, invites you to visit Him,
7:07 So come to His visitation."
7:11 And we will say: "We hear and we obey,"
7:14 And we will rise to the visitation, hastening.
7:17 And there, the wonders of the mounts
7:20 Have been prepared for us,
7:23 So we mount their backs, hurrying,
7:26 Until we reach the spacious valley
7:29 For which He has set us an appointment,
7:32 And we gather there,
7:35 And the caller will not leave anyone behind.
7:38 The Lord, Blessed and Exalted be He, will command
7:41 His Throne to be set up there,
7:44 Then pulpits of light will be set up for us,
7:47 And pulpits of pearl,
7:50 And pulpits of chrysolite,
7:53 And pulpits of gold,
7:56 And pulpits of silver.
7:59 And the lowest of us—
8:02 Though there is no one among us who is truly 'low'—will sit upon mounds of musk.
8:06 Until our seats are settled,
8:09 And our places are secured,
8:12 The caller will call out:
8:15 "O people of Paradise,
8:18 You have an appointment with Allah,
8:21 Which He wishes to fulfill for you."
8:24 We will say: "And what is it?
8:27 Has He not brightened our faces,
8:30 And weighed our scales,
8:34 And moved us away from the Fire?"
8:37 While we are in that state,
8:40 A light will shine forth for which Paradise will glow,
8:43 And we will raise our heads,
8:46 And there is the Compeller, glory be to His majesty,
8:49 And the holiness of His names,
8:52 Having appeared to us from above.
8:55 And He will say: "O people of Paradise,
8:58 Peace be upon you."
9:02 We will return this greeting
9:05 With something better than our own words:
9:08 "O Allah, You are Peace,
9:11 And from You is peace,
9:14 Blessed are You, O Possessor of Majesty and Honor."
9:17 Then our Lord, Blessed and Exalted be He, will manifest to us,
9:20 Laughing at us,
9:23 And He will say: "O people of Paradise,
9:26 Where are My servants who obeyed Me?
9:29 For this is the Day of Increase."
9:32 We will gather on one word:
9:36 "We are pleased, our Lord,
9:39 So be pleased with us."
9:42 He will say: "O people of Paradise,
9:45 If I were not pleased with you,
9:48 I would not have let you dwell in My Paradise.
9:51 This is the Day of Increase,
9:54 So ask of Me."
9:57 Not one thing, but:
10:00 "Show us Your Face, that we may look upon You."
10:03 Then our Lord, glory be to His majesty, will lift the veils,
10:06 And manifest to us,
10:09 And there will cover us of His light
10:12 That, had Allah not decreed
10:15 That we should not burn, we would have burned.
10:18 And there will not remain in that gathering
10:21 Anyone among us but that He will address him,
10:24 To the point that He will say:
10:27 "O so-and-so, do you remember
10:30 The day you did such-and-such?"
10:33 Reminding him of some of his transgressions
10:36 In the world.
10:40 The servant will say: "O my Lord,
10:43 "Did You not forgive me?" He will reply, "Indeed,
10:46 by My forgiveness you have attained your station."
10:49 This is the day
10:53 wherein they shall have whatever they desire,
10:56 and with Us is more,
10:59 and they shall see Him,
11:03 glorified is He, from above them,
11:06 a clear vision, just as one sees the two celestial bodies.
11:09 This is the "more"
11:12 that has been mentioned in Surah Yunus,
11:15 in the Tafsir of the one who brought the Qur'an,
11:18 and it is the "more" as well.
11:21 Abu Bakr is the Truthful One (al-Siddiq),
11:24 the possessor of certainty,
11:27 to Allah belongs that understanding;
11:30 He grants it to whom
11:33 He deems worthy, from among those who excel in goodness.
11:36 Amidst their life,
11:39 their joy, and their bliss,
11:42 in delight and celebration,
11:45 suddenly there will be a radiant light.
11:48 They will raise their heads toward it,
11:51 and they will see the light of the Lord,
11:54 which is hidden from no human being.
11:57 And there is their Lord, Exalted is He,
12:00 above them, having come to greet them
12:03 with benevolence.
12:06 He will say, "Peace be upon you."
12:09 They will see Him clearly, Exalted is He,
12:12 the Lord, the Possessor of Majesty.
12:15 A caller from the Garden of Eternal Life will signal,
12:18 "O people of the Garden,
12:22 you have a promise from the Most Merciful,
12:25 and He is the One who fulfills it for you with a guarantee."
12:28 They will say, "Have our faces not been whitened?
12:31 Have our deeds not been weighed
12:34 in the balance?
12:37 And have You not admitted us into the Gardens,
12:40 when You saved us from the entrance of the Fire?"
12:43 He will say, "I have a promise with Me,
12:46 the time has come for Me to grant it to you,
12:49 out of My mercy and tenderness."
12:52 Then they will see Him, after the lifting of His veil,
12:55 clearly, as narrated by Muslim with clarity.
12:58 By Allah, were it not for the vision of the Most Merciful
13:01 in the Gardens, there would be no delight
13:04 for those of true knowledge.
13:07 The highest bliss is the vision of His Face,
13:11 and the most severe thing in the punishment
13:14 is His veil, glorified is He, from the inhabitants
13:17 of the Fire.
13:27 When He withdraws from them,
13:30 they return to their pleasures
13:33 of every kind.
13:36 For they have bliss upon seeing Him,
13:40 and how excellent are both matters.
13:43 By Allah, there is nothing in this world
13:46 more delightful than the servant's longing for the Most Merciful.
13:49 And likewise, the vision of His Face,
13:53 glorified is He, is the most perfect
13:56 of all human delights.
13:59 Do you not know that He, glorified is He,
14:02 truly speaks to His party in the Gardens?
14:05 He will say, Majestic is His Majesty,
14:09 "Are you satisfied?"
14:12 They will say, "We are possessors of contentment.
14:15 How could we not be satisfied,
14:18 when You have given us
14:21 what no human has ever attained?"
14:24 "Is there anything beyond this
14:27 that would be better than it?"
14:30 We ask Him, the Bestower of Bounties.
14:33 He will say, "Better than it is My contentment."
14:36 The Most Merciful will remind each of them of what
14:39 had transpired from him in past times,
14:42 from Him to him;
14:45 there is no intermediary.
14:48 That is not a rebuke from the Most Merciful,
14:51 but rather, the one who has attained it recognizes it
14:54 as coming from His grace, forgiveness, and benevolence.
14:57 O Allah, we
15:01 ask You for Paradise,
15:04 such as the highest Firdaws,
15:07 without reckoning or punishment.
15:10 O Allah, Amen.
15:13 And the journey has a remainder;
15:16 it is Paradise.
