It's heaven | Episode (9) | Paradise's waters and rivers

0:00 In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

0:05 It is Paradise; the waters of Paradise and its rivers.

0:20 Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds.

0:27 And may peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad.

0:30 And upon all his family and companions.

0:33 To proceed:

0:35 O people of Paradise,

0:37 Among your rivers in Paradise are also

0:40 The Nile and the Euphrates.

0:42 These two rivers spring from the root of the Lote Tree of the Utmost Boundary (Sidrat al-Muntaha).

0:48 They flow visibly across the lands of Paradise,

0:52 And descend until they reach the lowest heaven,

0:56 Then they descend to the earth,

0:58 Where they emerge and flow within it.

1:02 There are also two other rivers

1:05 That spring from the root of the Lote Tree of the Utmost Boundary,

1:09 But they are hidden,

1:11 Flowing within the lands of Paradise.

1:14 Thus,

1:15 The rivers that originate from the root of the Lote Tree of the Utmost Boundary

1:20 Are four rivers:

1:22 The Nile and the Euphrates,

1:24 And two other hidden rivers.

1:27 Among the rivers of Paradise are also

1:30 The rivers Sayhun and Jayhun.

1:33 In this world, they are rivers of Central Asia,

1:38 And the Muslims of old called the lands beyond these two rivers

1:43 Transoxiana (Ma Wara' al-Nahr).

1:46 These two rivers have their origin in Paradise,

1:49 But they changed after emerging from it,

1:53 Just as the Black Stone changed.

1:57 However, these two rivers,

1:59 Sayhun and Jayhun,

2:01 Do not spring from the Lote Tree of the Utmost Boundary.

2:05 Therefore,

2:06 The Nile and the Euphrates have superiority over them.

2:10 In Paradise, there is also a magnificent river

2:13 That Allah the Almighty has prepared for His Prophet, peace be upon him.

2:18 Allah the Almighty said:

2:20 ﴾ Indeed, We have granted you, [O Muhammad], the Kawthar. ﴿

2:24 "Al-Kawthar" is derived from "kathra" (abundance),

2:26 Meaning abundant goodness.

2:28 From this comes this magnificent river.

2:31 The description of this river, which Allah has granted to His Prophet, peace be upon him,

2:38 Is that its banks are of gold and hollowed pearls,

2:42 Its bed is of pearls and rubies,

2:45 Its soil is more fragrant than musk,

2:48 Its water is sweeter than honey,

2:50 And whiter than snow.

2:53 Its vessels are distributed along its banks, numbering like the stars.

2:58 Birds with necks like the necks of camels come to drink from it.

3:03 It is a river that flows upon the surface of the earth,

3:06 Not carving through it,

3:08 But rather gliding over its surface,

3:11 Then pouring into the Basin (Hawd) of the Prophet, peace be upon him.

3:17 Among the rivers of Paradise is also

3:20 A river called Bariq,

3:23 Which is a river at the gate of Paradise,

3:26 Where the martyrs sit upon it and around it,

3:29 In a green dome.

3:32 O people of the Gardens,

3:34 Among the water sources in your gardens are also

3:38 The springs.

3:40 By nature, man loves the sight of water,

3:44 And Allah has placed in Paradise many springs,

3:48 Varying in taste, drink, and description,

3:52 As Allah the Almighty said:

3:54 ﴾ Indeed, the righteous will be within gardens and springs. ﴿

3:59 And He said: ﴾ Indeed, the righteous will be amid shades and springs. ﴿

4:06 These springs are made to gush forth by the believing servants of Allah,

4:10 Gushing forth wherever they wish,

4:12 And they direct them however they desire.

4:16 If they wish,

4:17 They divert them to the blossoming orchards,

4:21 Or to the lush meadows,

4:23 Or between the palaces and the decorated dwellings,

4:27 Or to any direction they see fit among the delightful places.

4:33 Among the characteristics of these springs

4:35 Is that they are flowing.

4:37 Allah the Almighty said:

4:39 ﴾ Within it is a flowing spring. ﴿

4:42 Meaning it flows without a channel.

4:45 And Allah the Almighty also said:

4:47 ﴾ And water poured out. ﴿

4:50 Meaning poured and flowing without a channel.

4:55 And since the believers in Paradise are in ranks,

4:59 So too is their access to the water of these springs in ranks.

5:05 The two springs that flow

5:08 Are for those brought near (al-Muqarrabun),

5:09 And the two gushing springs

5:12 Are for the companions of the right (Ashab al-Yamin).

5:15 Among the springs of Paradise is also

5:17 Salsabil.

5:19 Allah the Almighty said:

5:21 “There are they watered with a cup whereof the mixture is of Zanjabil,” (76:17)

5:26 “(The water of) a spring therein, named Salsabil.” (76:18)

5:31 This spring was named Salsabil

5:34 Due to the smoothness of its flow

5:37 And the ease of its course.

5:39 It is powerful in its flow,

5:41 And smooth in its gliding.

5:45 It is also called Salsabil

5:47 For its smoothness in the throat,

5:49 Meaning while drinking,

5:52 For it goes down with the utmost softness and ease.

5:56 This spring

5:58 Is the spring from which the people of Paradise drink when they first enter it.

6:04 After they partake of the extra portion of the whale's liver,

6:08 And then eat from the ox that grazes on the outskirts of Paradise,

6:12 They drink from the spring of Salsabil thereafter.

6:17 This indicates that the spring of Salsabil is among the best springs of Paradise.

6:23 Among its springs is also the spring of Tasnim,

6:27 About which Allah the Almighty said:

6:30 “They are given to drink of a pure wine, sealed,” (83:25)

6:33 ﴾ The last of it is musk. ﴿

6:35 “Whose seal is musk - for this let (all) those strive who strive for bliss -” (83:26)

6:39 And its mixture is from Tasnim.

6:42 “A spring whence those brought near (to Allah) drink.” (83:28)

6:47 O people of Paradise,

6:49 You are given to drink of a sealed nectar (rahiq),

6:52 Meaning the wine of Paradise.

6:54 For "Rahiq" is one of the names of wine.

6:57 ﴾ The last of it is musk. ﴿

6:59 Meaning it is mixed with musk.

7:02 The drink is white like silver,

7:05 And you seal your drink with musk.

7:08 If a man from the people of this world

7:11 Were to dip his finger into that musk and then withdraw it,

7:16 There would not remain a single soul

7:18 But would find the fragrance of that scent.

7:22 And the mixture of this nectar is from Tasnim.

7:25 Thus,

7:27 The drink, which is the wine,

7:29 Is mixed with water from the spring of Tasnim.

7:32 It is the most noble and highest drink of the people of Paradise.

7:36 That is why He said:

7:38 ﴾ And its mixture is from Tasnim. ﴿

7:41 “A spring whence those brought near (to Allah) drink.” (83:28)

7:44 Thus,

7:45 Those brought near drink from it pure,

7:49 And it is mixed for the companions of the right.

7:53 As for camphor (Kafur),

7:55 It may be the name of a spring in Paradise,

7:58 Or it may be a description of the drink,

8:01 Meaning it is like camphor in the pleasantness of its scent.

8:05 This is the most likely interpretation.

8:07 Allah the Almighty said:

8:09 “Lo! the righteous shall drink of a cup whereof the mixture is of Kafur,” (76:5)

8:14 ﴾ Indeed, the righteous will drink from a cup [of wine] whose mixture is of camphor, ﴿

8:17 “A spring wherefrom the slaves of Allah drink, making it gush forth abundantly,” (76:6)

8:21 ﴾ They will make it gush forth in force [and abundance]. ﴿

8:25 A delicious drink of wine

8:28 That has been mixed with camphor,

8:30 Meaning it was mixed with it to cool it and temper its sharpness.

8:34 This camphor is of the utmost delight,

8:37 Having been spared every impurity

8:40 Or annoyance present in the camphor of this world.

8:45 They are given to drink of a nectar sealed

8:49 With musk; the first of it is like the second.

8:52 With a wine that is delightful to its drinker, without

8:56 Any intoxication, harm, or deficiency.

9:00 As for the wine of this world, this is its description:

9:04 It steals the intellect of the intoxicated drinker,

9:08 And it contains the ailments that are its nature,

9:11 And one fears the lack of consciousness.

9:16 So the Most Merciful has removed all of that

9:18 From the wine in the Paradise of the Living.

9:23 Their drink is from Salsabil,

9:26 Mixed with camphor;

9:28 That is the drink of the people of excellence.

9:31 Furthermore, the digestion of their food

9:35 Is a sweat that flows from their bodies,

9:39 Like the fragrance of musk, which has no

9:42 Mixture of any other colors.

9:46 Then their stomachs return to being lean,

9:50 Desiring food throughout the ages.

9:54 There is no excrement, urine, or mucus,

9:58 Nor spitting from the human being.

10:02 They have a belch whose scent is musk,

10:05 By which the digestion is perfectly completed.

10:11 O Allah, grant us Paradise and its bliss.

10:14 O Allah, we ask You for the highest Firdaws of Paradise,

10:19 Without reckoning or punishment.

10:22 O Allah, Amen.

10:25 The journey has a continuation.

10:28 It is Paradise.
