O people of Paradise.

Among your delights and comforts in Paradise,

is that your vessels, from which you eat and drink,

are made of pure gold and silver.

Just as the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, informed us when he said:

"Two gardens of silver, their vessels and all they contain;

and two gardens of gold, their vessels and all they contain."

And he, peace be upon him, said:

"Do not drink from vessels of gold and silver,

and do not eat from their platters,

for they are for them in this world,

and for us in the Hereafter."

O people of Paradise.

If you ask about the platters of Paradise,

the singular is 'sahfah'.

It is larger than a bowl,

and it is what is filled with food,

around which several people sit.

Allah the Exalted informed us about them, saying:

“Therein are brought round for them trays of gold and goblets, and therein is all that souls desire and eyes find sweet. And ye are immortal therein.” (43:71)

And in these platters,

is whatever your souls desire of food.

Your servants, the immortal youths of Paradise, bring it to you,

in the finest and most magnificent vessels.

If you ask about the cups of Paradise,

they are drinking vessels that have no handles,

They are also made of gold.

The Exalted said regarding them:

He described them as combining both silver and transparency,

and this is among the finest and most wondrous of things.

And in these cups is enough drink

to satisfy the need of the one drinking,

without exceeding his need or falling short of it.

That is why the Exalted said regarding them:

“(Bright as) glass but (made) of silver, which they (themselves) have measured to the measure (of their deeds).” (76:16)

This is more profound in the pleasure of the drinker.

For if it were less, he would be thirsty,

and his pleasure would be diminished.

And if it exceeded his need,

he would be repulsed by it,

and would feel boredom and weariness from what remains.

There is a wondrous relationship between what is in the soul of the believer

and the delight that is before him.

For as soon as he desires a thing,

it is exactly as he wished.

He has no need to ask the angels or the youths

to describe the food or drink he desires.

As soon as he desires what is in his soul,

what he desired is present before him.

If he wishes to drink something,

the cup is filled before him with what he wanted.

the food is directly before him, just as he desires it.

As for the 'ka's' (goblet) in Paradise,

it is the vessel when it is filled with wine.

So every 'ka's' mentioned in the Qur'an

And amidst this great delight,

as you move between the orchards and gardens,

and the trees and the greenery,

you will see greenery to your right and to your left,

and from every direction around you.

For Paradise is 'mudhammatan' (dark green),

meaning it is green,

its greenness having intensified until it leans toward black,

from the intensity of irrigation with water,

and the density of the branches and leaves.

And in Paradise, there is light,

but it does not burn or harm,

nor does it damage the bodies,

rather, it increases their beauty, radiance,

Have you seen the hour that comes after the dawn prayer,

before the rising of the sun?

How the light is,

the ultimate in gentleness,

a delightful atmosphere,

neither darkness,

nor a glaring light,

no sun to hurt the eye,

it is light,

but it is gentle.

Such is the light of Paradise.

And the example is for approximation.

O people of Paradise,

your Paradise has no sun or moon,

nor night or day,

but you know the morning and the evening

by a light that appears from before the Throne.

You know the duration of the night

by the lowering of the veils and the closing of the doors,

and you know the duration of the day

by the raising of the veils and the opening of the doors,

as the Exalted said:

“They hear therein no idle talk, but only Peace; and therein they have food for morn and evening.” (19:62)

you have in Paradise whatever you desire

of food and drink,

at the time of the morning and the time of the evening,

of the days of this world,

and whose rivers have flowed through the trees and the greenery.

In a Paradise whose walls have towered,

submissive with shade and fruit.

In a Paradise scented with musk,

in the presence of its aromatic plants,

and the breeze of the soul among the trees.

In a Paradise that has brought security and tranquility,

and in which souls have found contentment,

free from afflictions and changes.

Blessed is its dweller,

for he has become joyful,

with eternity in delights that remain without disturbance.

blessed is its inhabitant,

blessed is he who treads upon it,

And in Paradise, there are also rivers,

flowing from between the houses and palaces,

and between the chambers and the tents,

and from beneath the greenery and the trees,

without a trench in the earth.

They do not flow through the lands of Paradise,

but Allah holds them by His power in their courses,

and the people of Paradise direct them wherever they wish.

The Exalted said:

“And give glad tidings (O Muhammad) unto those who believe and do good works; that theirs are Gardens underneath which rivers flow; as often as they are regaled with food of the fruit thereof, they say: this is what was given us aforetime; and it is given to them in resemblance. There for them are pure companions; there for ever they abide.” (2:25)

And these rivers,

And the rivers of Paradise gush forth from above, from Firdaws,

And Paradise has four seas,

from which four types of rivers branch out.

As for the seas, they are the sea of water,

the sea of honey, the sea of milk, and the sea of wine.

From them branch out rivers of water that does not stagnate,

and rivers of milk whose taste does not change,

“A similitude of the Garden which those who keep their duty (to Allah) are promised: Therein are rivers of water unpolluted, and rivers of milk whereof the flavour changeth not, and rivers of wine delicious to the drinkers, and rivers of clear-run honey; therein for them is every kind of fruit, with pardon from their Lord. (Are those who enjoy all this) like those who are immortal in the Fire and are given boiling water to drink so that it teareth their bowels?” (47:15)

And Allah, the Almighty and Exalted,

has made clear that these rivers do not change,

and that they are wholesome.

the affliction that befalls it in this world.

For the affliction of water is that it becomes stagnant,

the affliction of milk is that its taste changes to sourness,

the affliction of wine is the unpleasantness of its taste,

which contradicts the pleasure of drinking it,

and the affliction of honey is the lack of its purification.

So He negated these afflictions from these rivers,

and singled out these rivers for mention,

because they are the best of drinks.

Water is for their quenching and purification,

honey is for their healing and benefit,

milk is for their strength and nourishment,

and wine is for their pleasure and joy.

He put water first because it is the life of souls,

followed with honey because it is the healing of people,

thirded with milk because it is the natural disposition (fitrah),

and concluded with wine,

an indication that whoever was forbidden it in this world

shall not be forbidden it in the Hereafter.

Its rivers flow without a trench,

glory be to Him who holds them from overflowing,

Flowing beneath them just as they desire,

gushing forth, with the rivers suffering no depletion,

of purified honey, then water, then wine,

and then rivers of milk.

By Allah, those substances are not like these,
11:40
though they share the same names in language.
11:44
O Allah, we ask You for Paradise and its bounties.

O Allah, we ask You for Firdaws,

the highest level of Paradise,

without reckoning or punishment.

O Allah, answer our prayer.
