The man is a shepherd over his household and is responsible for his flock. The woman is a shepherd over her husband’s household and his children and is responsible for them. The man’s servant is a shepherd over his master’s property and is responsible for it. Indeed, all of you are responsible for his flock.

يا رسول الله لم يبقى رجل ولمرأة من الأنصار إلا وقد أتحفك بتحفة وإني لا أجد ما أتحفك به غير ابني هذا فخذه فليخدمك ما شئت
The Messenger of God, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, was one of the people with the best morals, the warmest of hearts, and the most compassionate. One day he sent me for a need, so I went out and went to some boys playing in the market to play with them, but I did not go to what he ordered me to do. When I reached them, I felt someone standing behind me and taking my dress. I turned around and found the Messenger of God, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, smiling and saying, “O Anis, you have gone as I ordered you.” I was confused and said, “Yes, I am going now, O Messenger of God.” I have served him ten times. I have served him ten times. For years, he did not say anything I did when I made it or something I left behind when I left it
كان رسول الله صلوات الله وسلامه عليه من أحسن الناس خلقا وأرحبهم صدرا وأوفرهم حنانا فقد أرسلني يوما لحاجة فخرجت وقصدت صبيانا يلعبون في السوق لألعب معهم ولم أذهب إلى ما أمرني به فلما صرت إليهم شعرت بإنسان يقف خلفي ويأخذ بثوبي فالتفت فإذا رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم يبتسم ويقول يا أنيس أذهبت حيث أمرتك فارتبكت وقلت نعم إني ذاهبني الآن يا رسول الله والله لقد خدمته عشر سنين فما قال لشيء صنعته لما صنعته ولا لشيء تركته لما تركته
My son, if you are able to come in the morning and the evening and do not deceive anyone in your heart, then do so. My son, that is from my Sunnah. And whoever lives my Sunnah has loved me, and whoever loves me will be with me in Paradise. My son, if I enter upon your family, say hello, it will be a blessing upon you and upon your household.
يا بني إن قدرت أن تصبح وتمسي وليس في قلبك غش لأحد فافعل يا بني إن ذلك من سنتي ومن أحيا سنتي فقد أحبني ومن أحبني كان معي في الجنة يا بني إذا دخلت على أهلك فسلم يكن بركة عليك وعلى أهل بيتك
I did not think that I would live until I saw people like you exercising in the basin. I left old women behind me. Not one of them prayed unless I asked God to give her water from the basin of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him.
ما كنت أظن أن أعيش حتى أرى أمثالكم يتمارون في الحوض لقد تركت عجائز خلفي ما تصلي واحدة منهن إلا سألت الله أن يسقيها من حوض النبي عليه الصلاة والسلام

The last look I looked at him was on Monday, when the curtain of his room was opened, and I saw his face as if it were a leaf of the Qur’an. The people were standing behind Abu Bakr, looking at him, and they were almost in a state of confusion, so Abu Bakr motioned for them to stand still. Then the Messenger, peace and blessings be upon him, died at the end of that day. We saw a look that was more striking to us than his face, may God bless him and grant him peace, when we showed him dirt
لقد رأيت النبي عليه الصلاة والسلام يوم دخل علينا ورأيته يوم قبض منا فلم أر يومين يشبهانهما ففي يوم دخوله المدينة أضاء فيها كل شيء وفي اليوم الذي أوشك فيه أن يمضي إلى جوار ربه أظلم فيها كل شيء وكان آخر نظرة نظرتها إليه يوم الاثنين حين كشفت الستارة عن حجرته فرأيت وجهه كأنه ورقة مصحف وكان الناس يومئذ وقوفا خلف أبي بكر ينظرون إليه وقد كادوا أن يضطربوا فأشار إليهم أبو بكر أن يثبتوا ثم توفي الرسول عليه الصلاة والسلام في آخر ذلك اليوم فما نظرنا منظرا كان أعجب إلينا من وجهه صلى الله عليه وسلم حين واريناه ترابة

يبن آدم إنما أنت أيام إذا ذهب يوم ذهب بعضك
Son of Adam, your day is your guest, so be good to him. If you do good to him, he will depart with your praise, and if you offend him, he will depart with your sin, and so will your night.
يبن آدم نهارك ضيفك فأحسن إليه فإنك إن أحسنت إليه ارتحل بحمدك وإن أسأت إليه ارتحل بذنبك وكذلك ليلتك
The world is three days, but yesterday is gone, and as for tomorrow, you may not realize it, and as for today, it is yours, so work on it.
الدنيا ثلاثة أيام أما الأمس فقد ذهب بما فيه وأما غدن فلعلك لا تدركه وأما اليوم فلك فعمل فيه

اغتنم خمسا قبل خمس شبابك قبل هرمك وصحتك قبل سقمك وغناك قبل فقرك وفراغك قبل شغلك وحياتك قبل موتك
Among the believers are men who are true to what they covenanted with God, and among them are those who have died, and among them are those who wait, and they have not changed anything.
من المؤمنين رجال صدقوا ما عاهدوا الله عليه فمنهم من قضى نحبه ومنهم من ينتظر وما بدلوا تبديلا
One day he said to his companions, “They wish,” and one of them said, “I wish that this house was filled with gold that he spent in the cause of God Almighty.” He said, “They wish.” Another man said, “I wish that it were full of pearls, aquamarines, and gems that he spent in the path of God Almighty.” Then he said, “Wish,” and they said, “We do not know what to say, O Commander of the Faithful.” Omar said, “But I wish that this house was filled with men like Abu Ubaidah bin Al-Jarrah.”
قال لأصحابه يوما تمنوا فقال رجل منهم أتمنى لو أن هذه الدار مملوأة ذهبة أنفقه في سبيل الله عز وجل فقال تمنوا فقال رجل آخر أتمنى لو أنها مملوأة لؤلؤا وزبرجدا وجوهرا أنفقه في سبيل الله عز وجل ثم قال تمنوا فقالوا ما ندري ما نقول يا أمير المؤمنين فقال عمر لكن أتمنى لو أن هذه الدار مملوأة رجالا مثل أبي عبيدة بن الجراح
By the One in whose hand is my soul, he has spoken the truth
صدق والذي نفسي بيده
So that the rights will be given to their rightful owners on the Day of Resurrection, until the stout sheep will be exchanged for the horned sheep
لتؤدن الحقوق إلى أهلها يوم القيامة حتى يقادل الشاة الجلحاء من الشاة القرناء
Whoever has wronged his brother, let him free himself from it today before there is no dirham or dinar, if he has done good deeds, and if he has no good deeds, some of his companion’s bad deeds will be taken and they will be cast upon him.
من كانت عنده مظلمة لآخيه فليتحلله منها اليوم قبل أن لا يكون درهم ولا دينار إن كان له عمل صالح وإن لم تكن له حسنات أخذ من سيئات صاحبه فطريحت عليه
I am the King, I am the Judge. No one from the people of Paradise should enter Paradise with anyone wronged, even a blow
أنا الملك أنا الديان لا ينبغي لأحد من أهل الجنة أن يدخل الجنة ولأحد عنده مظلمة حتى اللطمة
This is the first night of the Hereafter, and I do not know, perhaps he has neglected something from me to you, with my hand or with my tongue. And by the One in whose hand is the soul of worship, retaliation on the Day of Resurrection is more difficult for any of you than for any of that.
يأتي علي من الدنيا وليلة هذه أول ليلة من الآخرة وإني لا أدري لعله فرط مني إليكم شيء بيدي أو بلساني والذي نفس عبادة بيده القصاص يوم القيامة أحرج على أحد منكم في نفسه علي شيء من ذلك
A man will do the work of the people of Paradise until there is only an arm’s length between him and it, then what is written overtakes him, and he does the work of the people of Hell and enters it.
وإن الرجل ليعمل بعمل أهل الجنة حتى ما يكون بينه وبينها إلا ذراع فيسبق عليه الكتاب فيعمل بعمل أهل النار فيدخلها
No one among us is rewarded today as so-and-so was rewarded
ما أجزأ مننا اليوم أحد كما أجزأ فلان
But he is one of the people of Hell
أما إن من أهل النار
Which of us is among the people of Paradise if this one is among the people of Hell?
أينا من أهل الجنة إن كان هذا من أهل النار
I am his owner, I will see what he does
أنا صاحبه سأنظر ماذا يفعل
I bear witness that you are the Messenger of God
أشهد أنك رسول الله
A man may do the deeds of the people of Paradise as it appears to the people, while he is one of the people of Hell, but deeds are determined by the end
إن الرجل ليعمل عمل أهل الجنة فيما يبدو للناس وهو من أهل النار وإنما الأعمال بالخواتيم
And peace be upon the Messenger of God, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, and peace be upon you. Say to him, “By God, I smell the scent of Paradise.” And say to my people, the Ansar, “You have no excuse with God for devoting yourselves to the Messenger of God, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, while you have an eye of exaggeration.”
وعلى رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم السلام وعليك السلام قل له إني والله لأجد رائحة الجنة وقل لقومي الأنصار لا عذر لكم عند الله أن يخلص إلى رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم وفيكم عين تطرف
I served the Prophet, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, for ten years, and he never said to me, “Fifth,” and he never said, “For something I did, for what I did, or for something I left behind, for what I left.”
خدمت النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم عشر سنين فما قال لي أف قط وما قال لشيء صنعته لما صنعته ولا لشيء تركته لما تركته وكان رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم من أحسن الناس خلقا ولا مسست خزاً قط ولا حريرا ولا شيئاً كان ألياً من كف رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم ولا شممت مسكاً قط ولا عطراً كان أطيب من عرق رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم
Every son of Adam makes mistakes, and the best sinners are those who repent
كل بن آدم خطاء وخير الخطائين التوابون
O son of Adam, as long as you call upon Me and hope in Me, I will forgive you for what you have done, and I do not care. O son of Adam, if your sins reach the clouds of the sky and then you ask forgiveness from Me, I will forgive you, and I do not care. O son of Adam, if you come to Me with sins nearly as great as the earth and then meet Me, not associating anything with Me, I will bring you forgiveness nearly as great as it.
يا ابن آدم إنك ما دعوتني ورجوتني غفرت لك على ما كان منك ولا أبالي يا ابن آدم لو بلغت ذنوبك عنان السماء ثم استغفرتني غفرت لك ولا أبالي يا ابن آدم إنك لو أتيتني بقراب الأرض خطايا ثم لقيتني لا تشرك بي شيئا لأتيتك بقرابها مغفرة
The righteous women are obedient and protect the unseen with what God has preserved
فالصالحات قانتات حافظات للغيب بما حفظ الله
If it is empty, pour it
فإذا فرغت فانصب

مضى زمن النوم يا خديجة
O Messenger of God, I shoot arrows, so do not let my throw go astray
يا رسول الله اني ارمي بالسهام فلا تطيش رميتي
O Messenger of God, I am struggling with Samra
يارسول الله إنني أصارع سمرة
If what he saw as forbidden yesterday, he sees as lawful today, then he has been tempted
إن كان ما يراه حراما بالأمس يراه حلالا اليوم فقد فتن
What is permissible is clear and what is forbidden is clear
الحلال بين والحرام بين
Go and do not change your appearance at all, because we are a people whom God has honored with Islam, and no matter how much we seek glory in anything else, God will humiliate us.
اذهب ولا تغير من مظهرك شيئا لأننا قوم أعزنا الله بالإسلام ومهما ابتغينا العزة بغيره أذلنا الله
