And in order for marital relationships to be established upon affection, tranquility, and mercy,

one must focus on two matters.

They are like two wings;

with them, the spouses fly into the heavens of happiness and serenity.

They are obedience and the safeguarding of marital secrets.

For Allah the Almighty has said, describing the righteous wife:

“Men are in charge of women, because Allah hath made the one of them to excel the other, and because they spend of their property (for the support of women). So good women are the obedient, guarding in secret that which Allah hath guarded. As for those from whom ye fear rebellion, admonish them and banish them to beds apart, and scourge them. Then if they obey you, seek not a way against them. Lo! Allah is ever High, Exalted, Great.” (4:34)

"And the righteous are the devoutly obedient,"

meaning those who are obedient to their husbands.

For Allah the Almighty named the privacy between spouses,

and whatever disputes occur between them, as "the unseen" (ghayb).

They are among the signs of Allah the Almighty

that scatter roses and fragrant flowers

between the covers of the book of marital happiness.

Allah dissolves into the sweetest of feelings;

then darkness, then light,
