0:26 may Allah preserve him.

0:30 The Delight of Seclusion

0:33 Seclusion with Allah the Exalted

0:37 increases the believer in faith and light.

0:42 Al-Hasan al-Basri said, when he was asked,

0:45 "Why is it that the people of the night have light upon their faces?"

0:49 He replied, "Because they were in seclusion with their Lord,

0:52 so He clothed them with some of His light."

0:55 Therefore, we say to anyone who has fallen into a trial or calamity,

0:59 "O my brother,

1:01 sit with your Lord in a session or a moment of seclusion during a quiet hour,

1:06 until you find tranquility while you are in the presence of Allah the Exalted."

1:10 How magnificent is this tranquility that pours into the heart,

1:14 which makes a person stable and at peace,

1:18 just as the Exalted said,

1:20 on the tongue of His Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him,

1:23 as he addresses and recites.

1:26 “If ye help him not, still Allah helped him when those who disbelieve drove him forth, the second of two; when they two were in the cave, when he said unto his comrade: Grieve not. Lo! Allah is with us. Then Allah caused His peace of reassurance to descend upon him and supported him with hosts ye cannot see, and made the word of those who disbelieved the nethermost, while Allah's Word it was that became the uppermost. Allah is Mighty, Wise.” (9:40)

1:30 And the Exalted says on the tongue of His Prophet Musa, peace be upon him,

1:34 addressing his people.

1:36 “He said: Nay, verily! for lo! my Lord is with me. He will guide me.” (26:62)

1:41 And as the poet said:

1:43 "I wish you were sweet, even while life is bitter,

1:47 and I wish you were pleased, even while all people are angry.

1:51 If your love is true, then all else is easy,

1:55 and all that is upon the earth is but dust."

1:59 (Correction of previous line: And all that is upon the earth is but dust.)

2:03 This is how your longings and joys should be

2:06 when you are attached to Allah the Almighty.

2:09 It is the joy of obeying Allah and receiving His bounty.

2:13 Allah the Exalted says,

2:15 “Say: In the bounty of Allah and in His mercy: therein let them rejoice. It is better than what they hoard.” (10:58)

2:19 "Let them rejoice in that;

2:22 it is better than what they accumulate."

2:29 There are those among people who rejoice

2:31 in the temptations of the world, such as wealth and the like,

2:35 while the believer rejoices in a humble prostration

2:38 in a quiet night and at the time of the dawn,

2:42 in which he calls upon his Lord, sheds a tear,

2:46 and humbles himself before Him, glory be to Him and the Exalted.

2:50 As Allah said,

2:52 “Who forsake their beds to cry unto their Lord in fear and hope, and spend of that We have bestowed on them.” (32:16)

2:56 “Who forsake their beds to cry unto their Lord in fear and hope, and spend of that We have bestowed on them.” (32:16)

3:01 "and spend from what We have provided them."

3:09 What is this longing that takes hold of the heart?

3:12 This is our master Bilal, may Allah be pleased with him,

3:16 when his death approaches.

3:18 His wife cries out and says,

3:22 and he replies,

3:30 "It is the longing for the meeting with Allah the Exalted."

3:35 And in the Battle of Uhud,

3:37 Anas Ibn al-Nadr, may Allah be pleased with him, cried out, saying,

3:41 "How wonderful is the scent of Paradise!

3:43 By Allah, I truly find its scent before Uhud."

3:47 Then he rushes forth, longing and desiring,

3:50 loving and yearning,

3:52 passionate for the meeting with Allah the Exalted,

3:56 throwing himself forward, embracing death before it comes to him,

4:00 and thus he departs as a martyr.

4:03 For an hour in which a person is in seclusion with Allah the Exalted

4:08 is better than a thousand hours spent occupied with the world and all that is in it.

4:21 In the hearts,

4:24 increase in closeness to the Most Merciful,

4:28 so that joy may embrace you.

4:32 Attach your soul to your Lord,

4:36 and fill the surroundings with light.

4:40 Everyone who obeys the Lord melts into the sweetest feeling,

4:48 [a state of] mercy and then light,

4:51 and revelation thereafter.

4:55 If Allah wills a thing, He says to it "Be," and it comes to pass.
