0:21 Musk al-Khitab (The Fragrance of Discourse)
0:24 by Sheikh Usama Bahr,
0:26 may Allah preserve him.
0:30 Who is it that stretches out His hand by night so that the sinner of the day may repent,
0:46 and stretches out His hand by day so that the sinner of the night may repent?
0:51 Who is it that calls out every night:
0:54 "Is there anyone who repents, that I may accept his repentance?"
0:57 "Is there anyone seeking forgiveness, that I may forgive him?"
1:00 Who is it that calls out:
1:02 "O son of Adam,
1:04 even if your sins were to reach the clouds of the sky,
1:07 and then you sought My forgiveness,
1:09 I would forgive you for what you have done, and I would not mind."
1:14 Who is it that calls out:
1:16 "O My servants,
1:18 you commit sins by night and by day,
1:21 and I forgive all sins,
1:24 so seek My forgiveness,
1:26 and I will forgive you."
1:28 Who is it that calls out?
1:30 “Say: O My slaves who have been prodigal to their own hurt! Despair not of the mercy of Allah, Who forgiveth all sins. Lo! He is the Forgiving, the Merciful.” (39:53)
1:39 “Say: O My slaves who have been prodigal to their own hurt! Despair not of the mercy of Allah, Who forgiveth all sins. Lo! He is the Forgiving, the Merciful.” (39:53)
1:44 “Say: O My slaves who have been prodigal to their own hurt! Despair not of the mercy of Allah, Who forgiveth all sins. Lo! He is the Forgiving, the Merciful.” (39:53)
1:51 Indeed, He is the Oft-Forgiving, the Most Merciful.
1:56 Who is it that shows mercy to those who repent,
2:00 and encompasses them with His pardon and forgiveness,
2:03 and He is the best of those who forgive?
2:06 Who is it to whose door voices have thronged,
2:09 pleading with apologies, requests, and needs,
2:13 and Allah was, and ever remains, merciful regarding them?
2:17 He is Allah, glory be to Him and exalted be He.
2:21 He forgives the servant his sins,
2:23 and conceals his faults for him.
2:26 He is Allah, glory be to Him and exalted be He.
2:29 The servant stands before Him, calling out to Him:
2:32 "My Lord, my Lord."
2:34 He calls out to Him after his sins and transgressions,
2:37 and his faults and calamities,
2:40 which have kept him awake in his bed.
2:42 He found no refuge except in Allah,
2:46 so he stands before Allah,
2:48 saddened by his sins,
2:50 burdened by his faults,
2:53 and shackled by his transgressions,
2:55 after the pleasure has faded,
2:57 the desire has passed,
2:59 and it has been followed by torment and humiliation.
3:02 The constriction of sins has surrounded him,
3:05 causing him pain and anxiety.
3:07 He looked to the right and to the left,
3:10 and found that his soul, which is prone to evil,
3:13 had betrayed him,
3:14 and that the devil had abandoned him.
3:18 He found no one but his Lord.
3:20 He stands before Him, apologizing,
3:23 calling out to Him from the depths of his heart and soul.
3:27 He calls out, "My Lord,"
3:29 while certain that Allah is more forbearing and more merciful,
3:33 and that Allah is more faithful and more generous,
3:36 and that even if his sins are great,
3:40 Allah is greater,
3:42 greater than everything.
3:44 And even if his faults are many,
3:47 Allah is more merciful,
3:49 and He is the Oft-Forgiving, the Forbearing.
3:51 He stands before Allah, broken,
3:55 a captive, crushed,
3:57 believing in his Lord,
3:59 certain of His mercy.
4:01 He calls out to Him:
4:04 "O Lord,
4:06 O Lord."
4:08 And behold, Allah, the Majestic,
4:10 does not look at his past misdeeds,
4:14 but rather rejoices at his turning back and his repentance.
4:18 The gates of heaven open,
4:20 the words and supplications ascend,
4:23 and they reach where Allah wills them to reach.
4:27 And Allah, glory be to Him and exalted be He, calls out:
4:30 "O My angels,
4:32 O My angels,
4:34 My servant knew that he has a Lord who punishes for sin,
4:39 I have forgiven My servant."
4:52 Draw closer to the Most Merciful,
4:56 so that joy may embrace you.
5:00 Attach your soul to your Lord,
5:04 and fill the horizons with light.
5:08 Everyone who obeys the Lord
5:12 dissolves into the sweetest feeling.
5:17 Darkness, then light,
5:21 and revelation following it.
5:25 If Allah wills a thing, He says to it "Be," and it is.
