0:00 In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
0:03 Within the embrace of Allah, happiness pours into the hearts.
0:11 Draw ever closer to the Most Merciful.
0:15 The Muhammad Ibn Abd al-Aziz al-Musa Mosque.
0:18 In al-Badi', presents:
0:21 The Musk of the Discourse.
0:24 By Sheikh Usama Bahr.
0:26 May Allah preserve him.
0:28 Whoever obeys the Lord dissolves into the sweetest of feelings.
0:35 A secret between the servant and his Lord.
0:40 The Prophet, peace be upon him, narrates to us:
0:43 That the Children of Israel once suffered a drought.
0:46 So Musa, peace and blessings be upon him, went out,
0:49 With seventy thousand of his people,
0:51 Among them the bowing elders,
0:53 The nursing infants,
0:55 And the grazing livestock.
0:57 He called upon Allah and beseeched Him,
0:59 Yet the sky only grew clearer and more cloudless.
1:03 Then he called upon Him and beseeched Him again,
1:05 Yet the sky only grew clearer and more cloudless.
1:10 Then Allah revealed to Musa:
1:12 "Among you is a servant who has been warring against Me with sins for forty years.
1:17 I will not grant you rain until he departs from among you."
1:21 Oh, for the sake of Allah!
1:23 They were denied the rain of the heavens
1:25 Because of the sin of one of them.
1:28 If only we knew that sins have consequences that affect others.
1:33 Therefore, every sinner is a cause of the weakness of this Ummah.
1:38 Musa asked:
1:40 "How shall I identify him?"
1:42 He replied:
1:43 "O Musa,
1:44 Call out, and it is for Us to convey the message."
1:46 So Musa called out to his people:
1:49 "Indeed, there is a servant among us
1:51 Who has disobeyed Allah and warred against Him with sins for forty years,
1:56 And Allah will not grant us rain
1:58 Until this sinner departs from among us."
2:01 The message reached everyone.
2:03 The people of Musa heard what he said to them.
2:06 And the one who had disobeyed Allah
2:08 Recognized himself.
2:10 He looked to his right and to his left,
2:12 Hoping someone else would step forward, but no one did.
2:16 And if he were to step forward,
2:18 It would be a public scandal for him before the masses.
2:21 So what did he do?
2:23 He covered his head with his garment,
2:26 And called upon his Lord, beseeching Him,
2:29 Saying:
2:30 "O Lord,
2:32 You have shielded me for forty years,
2:34 So do not disgrace me today before Your servants.
2:37 I seek Your forgiveness and repent to You."
2:41 It was but a few moments,
2:43 Before the sky became overcast with clouds,
2:46 And rained down upon them a torrential downpour.
2:49 The earth overflowed with it,
2:51 The roads were filled with it,
2:53 And the valleys flowed with it.
2:55 Musa asked in astonishment:
2:58 "O Lord, no one among us stepped forward,
3:01 So how have You granted us rain?"
3:03 Allah, Blessed and Exalted is He, replied:
3:06 "It was because of him that I withheld the rain from you,
3:08 And it is because of him that I have granted you rain."
3:10 Musa asked:
3:12 "O Lord, who is this servant
3:14 For whose sake You withheld it from us,
3:16 And for whose sake You have granted us rain?"
3:18 Allah replied:
3:20 "O Musa,
3:22 I shielded him while he was a sinner,
3:24 So how could I disgrace him after he has repented?"
3:27 A magnificent story.
3:29 How much we are in need of its lessons today.
3:33 Is it not enough for us?
3:35 “They question thee (O Muhammad) concerning menstruation. Say: It is an illness, so let women alone at such times and go not in unto them till they are cleansed. And when they have purified themselves, then go in unto them as Allah hath enjoined upon you. Truly Allah loveth those who turn unto Him, and loveth those who have a care for cleanness.” (2:222)
3:37 And He loves those who purify themselves.
3:39 So repent to Allah, all of you.
3:42 For no affliction descends except by a sin,
3:45 And it is not lifted except by repentance.
4:26 And life thereafter.
4:30 If Allah wills a thing,
4:34 He says to it, "Be," and it is.
