Misk Al-Khattab - (10) Give us peace of mind, O Bilal

0:00 In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

0:03 In the presence of Allah, happiness pours into the hearts.

0:11 Seek ever-greater closeness to the Most Merciful.

0:24 By Sheikh Usama Bahr, may Allah preserve him.

0:28 Whoever obeys the Lord dissolves into the sweetest of feelings.

0:35 "Give us comfort with it, O Bilal."

0:37 It is the prayer.

0:43 The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said regarding it:

0:47 "The covenant between us and them is the prayer."

0:50 "Whoever abandons it has committed disbelief."

0:53 And the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, says:

0:56 "Prayer is a light."

0:58 The truth is that this word is precise, indicating the very spirit of prayer.

1:04 It means that prayer has a life of its own.

1:06 It can wither and it can thrive.

1:09 This prayer that we perform five times day and night,

1:14 Cannot possibly be in the state that people are in today,

1:18 Consisting of movements and actions devoid of khushu' (devotion) and spirit.

1:23 That is why he, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said:

1:27 "The believer gains nothing from his prayer except what he was mindful of."

1:31 'A'ishah, may Allah be pleased with her, said:

1:35 "The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, would speak with us and we would speak with him,

1:41 But when the time for prayer arrived, it was as if he did not know us, and we did not know him."

1:46 In the Sunan, it is narrated from the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, that he said:

1:51 "A servant may finish his prayer,

1:54 And nothing is recorded for him of it except half,

1:57 Or a third,

1:59 Or a fourth,

2:01 Or a fifth,

2:03 Or a sixth,

2:05 Or a seventh,

2:07 Or an eighth,

2:09 Or a ninth,

2:10 Or a tenth."

2:12 For the worshiper gains nothing from his prayer except what he was mindful of.

2:16 Indeed, there is a delight in prayer that causes tears to flow,

2:20 And the limbs to tremble in humility.

2:22 Prayer is a light;

2:24 Through it, you see the truth as truth,

2:26 And falsehood as falsehood.

2:28 On the authority of 'Abdullah Ibn 'Umar, may Allah be pleased with them both,

2:32 From the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him,

2:35 That he mentioned prayer one day and said:

2:38 "Whoever guards it, it will be a light, a proof, and a salvation for him on the Day of Resurrection."

2:45 "And whoever does not guard it,

2:47 Will have no light, no proof, and no salvation."

2:51 "And on the Day of Resurrection, he will be with Qarun, Pharaoh, Haman, and Ubayy Ibn Khalaf."

2:57 Yet, much is stolen from the prayer today;

3:01 The mind wanders during it,

3:04 And flies off into the whisperings of Satan.

3:07 Prayer has a body and a spirit.

3:10 The body of the prayer is its movements,

3:13 And its spirit is the heart's khushu' before Allah, through glorification, reverence, dignity, awe, and vitality.

3:21 The heart breaks before Allah with a sense of fear, shame, love, and life.

3:27 It witnesses the blessings of Allah, the Almighty and Majestic.

3:30 The khushu' of the heart is followed by the khushu' of the limbs.

3:34 Thus, the prayer comes alive in both body and spirit,

3:37 And achieves tranquility and comfort within the soul.

3:41 Perhaps you know now,

3:43 Why the Messenger, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said:

3:47 "Give us comfort with it, O Bilal."

4:12 There is light all around,

4:15 For the one who obeys the Lord and dissolves into the sweetest of feelings.

4:23 There is darkness, then light, and life thereafter.

4:31 If Allah wills a thing, He says to it, "Be," and it is.
