0:14 The journey of Hajj began with the veneration of sacred rites and the rejection of the practices of the Age of Ignorance.

0:21 In the tenth year of the Hijrah,

0:25 The Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, commanded that it be announced to the people to set out for the Farewell Hajj,

0:32 So that the people might prepare to depart with the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, for this momentous pilgrimage.

0:39 The Farewell Hajj.

0:41 Allah the Almighty says:

0:43 “And proclaim unto mankind the pilgrimage. They will come unto thee on foot and on every lean camel; they will come from every deep ravine,” (22:27)

0:57 "That they may witness benefits for themselves and mention the name of Allah on known days,"

1:11 "Over what He has provided for them of [sacrificial] animals."

1:18 "So eat of them and feed the miserable and poor."

1:25 "Then let them end their untidiness and fulfill their vows,"

1:33 "And perform tawaf around the Ancient House."

1:38 There is no doubt that this was a magnificent opportunity to perform the rites of Hajj with the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him,

1:47 And to draw from his guidance and Sunnah during this great journey.

1:52 Therefore, the Companions and the female Companions, may Allah be pleased with them all, were eager to witness the Farewell Hajj with the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him.

2:02 Jabir Ibn ‘Abdullah, may Allah be pleased with them both, said:

2:06 "The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, stayed for nine years without performing Hajj."

2:13 "Then, in the tenth year, he announced to the people that the Messenger of Allah would be performing Hajj."

2:18 "Consequently, a great number of people arrived in Madinah,"

2:21 "All of them seeking to follow the example of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him,"

2:26 "And to act just as he acted."

2:30 Among the examples of the female Companions' eagerness to attend the Farewell Hajj

2:34 Is what occurred with Duba‘ah bint al-Zubayr Ibn ‘Abd al-Muttalib, may Allah be pleased with her,

2:39 The cousin of the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him.

2:43 She was ill at the time of Hajj,

2:46 And she feared that she would be unable to perform the rites.

2:50 She went to the house of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him,

2:54 But did not find him there.

2:56 When the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, learned

2:59 Of her coming to his house when he was not there,

3:02 He went to her home.

3:04 When he entered upon her, he said to her:

3:07 "Perhaps you intended to perform Hajj?"

3:10 She replied, "By Allah, I feel nothing but pain."

3:14 "I am a woman who is physically heavy,"

3:16 "And I desire to perform Hajj,"

3:18 "But I am a sickly woman,"

3:21 "And I fear I may be prevented [from completing it]."

3:23 "So what do you command me to do?"

3:25 He said, "Enter into the state of ihram for Hajj,"

3:28 "And make the condition: 'My place of exiting ihram is wherever You prevent me.'"

3:32 Thus, the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, taught her

3:35 How to act in such a state of illness,

3:39 And the fear of being unable to complete the rites,

3:42 While still possessing the desire to perform Hajj.

3:44 It was from the mercy of Allah toward her

3:47 That she was able to complete the Hajj in its entirety.

3:50 So, if you, my sister pilgrim,

3:53 Are complaining of illness,

3:55 And you fear that you might be prevented,

3:57 And thus be unable to complete the Hajj,

4:00 Then in the story of Duba‘ah bint al-Zubayr,

4:03 You have an example and a way out.

4:05 When the time determined by the Prophet,

4:08 Peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, for Hajj arrived,

4:11 The great Hajj caravan set out

4:14 After the Dhuhr prayer,

4:16 Guided by the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him,

4:19 With five nights remaining in Dhu al-Qa‘dah,

4:22 Just as our Mother ‘A’ishah, may Allah be pleased with her, informed us.

4:26 That is, on Saturday,

4:28 The twenty-fourth or twenty-fifth of Dhu al-Qa‘dah.

4:32 Our Mother ‘A’ishah, may Allah be pleased with her, was precise

4:36 Regarding the number of nights remaining in the month of Dhu al-Qa‘dah

4:39 Because she narrated this after the month had concluded,

4:45 And his departure, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, was at the end of the month.

4:49 This was contrary to the practices of the Age of Ignorance,

4:51 In how they would welcome the beginnings of months for their activities,

4:54 And how they would direct their affairs accordingly,

4:56 Avoiding other times out of fear of shortening their lives.

5:00 So Allah sent His Prophet to abrogate all of that.

5:04 He did not concern himself with the waning of a month or its beginning,

5:07 Nor with the moon’s eclipse or its fullness.

5:10 He set out on his travels whenever it was feasible for him,

5:15 And he paid no heed to their superstitions or false assumptions.

5:19 He entrusted his affair to Allah the Almighty,

5:22 And did not associate anyone else with Him in his actions.

5:25 So Allah supported him and granted him victory.

5:28 This opposition to the customs of the Age of Ignorance

5:31 We will see in every detail of the Hajj rites,

5:34 For it is an intended objective in this great act of worship.

5:39 The Farewell Hajj caravan moved forward,

5:43 Accompanied by feelings of veneration

5:46 For this great act of worship,

5:48 And for its days and the conditions associated with the pilgrims.

5:52 Our Mother ‘A’ishah, may Allah be pleased with her, says:

5:56 "We set out with the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him,"

6:00 "In the months of Hajj,"

6:01 "And the nights of Hajj,"

6:03 "And the sacredness of Hajj,"

6:05 Meaning its times, its places, and its states.

6:09 And so, O sister pilgrim,

6:11 Your departure for Hajj should be such

6:14 That it reflects veneration for this great act of worship,

6:17 And for everything surrounding it related to it,

6:21 Such as the months of Hajj:

6:23 Shawwal,

6:24 Dhu al-Qa‘dah,

6:25 And Dhu al-Hijjah.

6:27 These overlap with the Sacred Months

6:30 Which Allah the Almighty has sanctified,

6:32 “Lo! the number of the months with Allah is twelve months by Allah's ordinance in the day that He created the heavens and the earth. Four of them are sacred: that is the right religion. So wrong not yourselves in them. And wage war on all of the idolaters as they are waging war on all of you. And know that Allah is with those who keep their duty (unto Him).” (9:36)

6:35 And commanded us to venerate and respect.

6:38 He, Glory be to Him and Exalted be He, said:

6:41 "Indeed, the number of months with Allah is twelve [lunar] months."

6:48 “Lo! the number of the months with Allah is twelve months by Allah's ordinance in the day that He created the heavens and the earth. Four of them are sacred: that is the right religion. So wrong not yourselves in them. And wage war on all of the idolaters as they are waging war on all of you. And know that Allah is with those who keep their duty (unto Him).” (9:36)

6:55 "Of which four are sacred."

6:58 "That is the correct religion."

7:01 “Lo! the number of the months with Allah is twelve months by Allah's ordinance in the day that He created the heavens and the earth. Four of them are sacred: that is the right religion. So wrong not yourselves in them. And wage war on all of the idolaters as they are waging war on all of you. And know that Allah is with those who keep their duty (unto Him).” (9:36)

7:07 "And fight against the disbelievers collectively,"

7:12 "As they fight against you collectively."

7:18 "And know that Allah is with the righteous."

7:25 Part of your veneration for this act of worship

7:29 Is to venerate the sacred boundaries of Allah within yourself,

7:32 So you avoid the disobedience of Allah,

7:34 And you consider falling into it or committing it as a grave matter in your soul.

7:38 For the One who commanded you to obey Him,

7:41 And promised you reward for it,

7:43 Is the same One who forbade you from disobedience,

7:46 And ordained punishment for it.

7:48 Allah the Almighty says:

7:50 “That (is the command). And whoso magnifieth the offerings consecrated to Allah, it surely is from devotion of the hearts,” (22:32)

7:56 “That (is the command). And whoso magnifieth the offerings consecrated to Allah, it surely is from devotion of the hearts,” (22:32)

8:01 "For you in them are benefits for a specified term."

8:07 “Therein are benefits for you for an appointed term; and afterward they are brought for sacrifice unto the ancient House.” (22:33)

8:12 Part of your veneration for the days of Hajj,

8:16 The months of Hajj, and the Sacred Months,

8:19 Is to comply with the saying of Allah the Almighty:

8:22 "Hajj is [during] well-known months."

8:28 “The pilgrimage is (in) the well-known months, and whoever is minded to perform the pilgrimage therein (let him remember that) there is (to be) no lewdness nor abuse nor angry conversation on the pilgrimage. And whatsoever good ye do Allah knoweth it. So make provision for yourselves (Hereafter); for the best provision is to ward off evil. Therefore keep your duty unto Me, O men of understanding.” (2:197)

8:32 "So there is to be no obscenity nor transgression."

8:35 “The pilgrimage is (in) the well-known months, and whoever is minded to perform the pilgrimage therein (let him remember that) there is (to be) no lewdness nor abuse nor angry conversation on the pilgrimage. And whatsoever good ye do Allah knoweth it. So make provision for yourselves (Hereafter); for the best provision is to ward off evil. Therefore keep your duty unto Me, O men of understanding.” (2:197)

8:37 "And whatever good you do,"

8:40 "Allah knows it."

8:43 “The pilgrimage is (in) the well-known months, and whoever is minded to perform the pilgrimage therein (let him remember that) there is (to be) no lewdness nor abuse nor angry conversation on the pilgrimage. And whatsoever good ye do Allah knoweth it. So make provision for yourselves (Hereafter); for the best provision is to ward off evil. Therefore keep your duty unto Me, O men of understanding.” (2:197)

8:48 “The pilgrimage is (in) the well-known months, and whoever is minded to perform the pilgrimage therein (let him remember that) there is (to be) no lewdness nor abuse nor angry conversation on the pilgrimage. And whatsoever good ye do Allah knoweth it. So make provision for yourselves (Hereafter); for the best provision is to ward off evil. 8:53 This means

8:55 That you must regulate your behavior, your speech, and your discussions

9:00 In a way that pleases Allah the Almighty.

9:03 For your departure for Hajj in a manner other than what Allah has permitted for you

9:08 Is considered a violation of the sanctity of these blessed days,

9:12 And a violation of the sacred boundaries of this great act of worship,

9:16 Such as traveling without a mahram,

9:18 Wearing clothing that reveals the shape of the body,

9:21 Using perfume, and the like.
