0:34 Our Mother ‘A’ishah, may Allah be pleased with her, says:

0:38 "We set out with the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him."

0:43 "Whoever among you wishes to enter into the state of ihram for Hajj and ‘Umrah, let him do so."

0:48 "Whoever wishes to enter into the state of ihram for Hajj, let him do so."

0:52 "And whoever wishes to enter into the state of ihram for ‘Umrah, let him do so."

0:57 ‘A’ishah, may Allah be pleased with her, said:

1:00 "The Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, entered into the state of ihram for Hajj."

1:04 "Some people entered into the state of ihram with him, some entered into the state of ihram for both ‘Umrah and Hajj, and some entered into the state of ihram for ‘Umrah; and I was among those who entered into the state of ihram for ‘Umrah."

1:15 As Jabir ibn ‘Abdullah, the narrator of the Prophet’s Hajj, may Allah be pleased with him, reported:

1:24 "We arrived having entered into the state of ihram with the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, for Hajj only."

1:30 "And ‘A’ishah, may Allah be pleased with her, arrived having entered into the state of ihram for ‘Umrah."

1:35 It is inconceivable that our Mother ‘A’ishah, may Allah be pleased with her, would have made the decision to enter into the state of ihram for ‘Umrah without consulting the Prophet, peace be upon him.

1:45 Rather, it is certain that he, peace be upon him, taught the Mothers of the Believers the rulings of the rites and their various types, and commanded them to enter into the state of ihram for ‘Umrah.

1:55 Then the caravan set off for Makkah after the people had entered into the state of ihram for the rites, raising their voices with the Talbiyah.

2:04 They were honoring the sacred boundaries of Allah and the rituals of Allah, hoping for the mercy of Allah.

2:10 The caravan set off on Sunday and continued its journey until the fourth day of Dhu al-Hijjah.

2:22 "We were with the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, and we recited the Talbiyah for Hajj, and we arrived in Makkah four days into Dhu al-Hijjah." The journey took seven days because they spent the night of Sunday outside Makkah.

2:41 They entered with the Prophet, peace be upon him, on the morning of Sunday, the fourth of Dhu al-Hijjah.

2:50 Our Mother ‘A’ishah, may Allah be pleased with her, and the hardship of the journey.

2:55 The road to Makkah was not as easy as we see it today.

3:00 Despite the advancement of transportation, such as luxury cars, airplanes, and others.

3:06 Rather, they traveled on camels for days in the hot desert climate from Madinah to Makkah.

3:13 The journey of our Mother ‘A’ishah, may Allah be pleased with her, with our Prophet, peace be upon him,

3:20 during the Farewell Hajj took seven days from the Miqat until entering Makkah.

3:26 Yet, she did not complain about the heat, nor did she fret over the length of the journey.

3:32 And she did not cease the Talbiyah during this travel.

3:36 Our Mother ‘A’ishah, may Allah be pleased with her, says:

3:39 "We would go out with the Prophet, peace be upon him, to Makkah."

3:44 "We would apply musk-scented perfume to our foreheads when entering the state of ihram."

3:49 "If one of us perspired, it would run down her face."

3:53 "The Prophet, peace be upon him, would see it and not forbid her."

3:58 Travel, in general, involves hardship.

4:01 Hajj involves hardship.

4:04 And the nature of Makkah is hot.

4:07 Complaining about the heat and the hardship of Hajj does not change reality at all.

4:13 But it may distract you from the remembrance of Allah and may diminish your reward.

4:18 In this is a reminder to you not to complain about the heat or the hardship of the road.

4:25 For the reward is in proportion to the hardship.

4:28 The arrival of the caravan at Sarif.

4:33 The caravan continued its journey until it reached the area of Sarif.

4:39 It is an area close to Makkah.

4:42 On the caravan route between Makkah and Madinah.

4:46 It has a rich history in the Prophetic biography and its events.

4:51 The caravan stopped at Sarif.

4:54 Tents were pitched to take a period of rest.

4:57 Before continuing the journey to Makkah.

5:00 The town of Sarif is very close to Makkah.

5:05 It is about 12 kilometers away from it.

5:08 This proximity means that the caravan was about to enter Makkah the following day.

5:15 Because Sarif is above the Tan‘im area from the northern side.

5:20 And Tan‘im is the nearest point of the Hill (the area outside the Haram) to the Haram.

5:24 If we look at the route of the Farewell Hajj caravan,

5:28 we realize that most of the distance had been covered.

5:32 And only a little remained.

5:36 This means that the distance from Madinah to Sarif

5:40 was covered in most of the days of the journey.

5:43 The journey began on Sunday.

5:46 And the Prophet, peace be upon him, entered Makkah on the morning of Sunday.

5:50 The fourth of Dhu al-Hijjah.

5:53 So it is seven days.

5:55 Thus, the arrival of the Hajj caravan at Sarif was

5:58 after six days of travel.

6:01 Meaning Saturday, the third of Dhu al-Hijjah.

6:05 The scholars of the Seerah mention

6:07 that the Prophet, peace be upon him,

6:10 spent the night of Sunday at Dhi Tuwa.

6:13 And he entered Makkah after the dawn prayer.

6:16 The distance between Sarif and Dhi Tuwa

6:19 does not require more than a day.

6:22 So if he moved on Saturday afternoon,

6:24 he would reach Dhi Tuwa at the beginning of the night.

6:27 The Prophet, peace be upon him, asked

6:32 his Companions to make it an ‘Umrah.

6:35 And at Sarif,

6:37 the Prophet, peace be upon him,

6:40 addressed his Companions,

6:41 urging them to change their rites to an ‘Umrah,

6:45 for those who did not have a sacrificial animal with them.

6:48 Our Mother ‘A’ishah, may Allah be pleased with her, says:

6:51 "We went out with the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him,"

6:55 "during the months of Hajj,"

6:57 "the nights of Hajj,"

6:58 "and the sacredness of Hajj."

7:00 "Then we descended at Sarif."

7:02 She said:

7:03 "He went out to his Companions and said:"

7:06 "Whoever among you does not have a sacrificial animal with him,"

7:09 "and would like to make it an ‘Umrah,"

7:11 "let him do so."

7:13 "And whoever has a sacrificial animal with him,"

7:15 "let him not."

7:16 She said:

7:17 "So some of his Companions took it, and some left it."
