1:26 She said: "I applied perfume to the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, for his state of ihram when he entered it,"

1:33 "and for his release from it after he had stoned Jamrat al-‘Aqabah, before he circumambulated the House."

1:39 This attention to the Prophet’s, peace be upon him, attire and fragrance

1:44 took place in Mina just as it had at Dhu al-Hulayfah.

2:07 rather, whenever the Prophet, peace be upon him, intended to visit the House during the days of Mina,

2:14 she would apply perfume to him with her own hands, may Allah be pleased with her.

2:17 She said: "I applied perfume to the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, for his ihram before he entered it,"

2:24 "and for his release when he exited it, and when he intended to visit the House."

2:30 Part of her keenness in caring for the Prophet’s, peace be upon him, fragrance

2:36 was that she, may Allah be pleased with her, would select the finest perfume for him.

2:41 Our Mother ‘Aishah, may Allah be pleased with her, says:

2:45 "I would apply the finest perfume to the Prophet, peace be upon him, at the time of his entering ihram and his release from it."

2:52 Musk was among the finest perfumes in their time,

2:56 which is why she was keen on using it.

3:03 "I would apply perfume to the Prophet, peace be upon him, before he entered ihram,"

3:09 "and on the Day of Sacrifice before he circumambulated the House,"

3:15 This care from our Mother ‘Aishah, may Allah be pleased with her,

3:19 was not because the Prophet, peace be upon him, happened to be with her on her designated day;

3:25 rather, this care stemmed from ‘Aishah’s eagerness to serve the Prophet, peace be upon him, at all times and in every instance.

3:34 This dedication stemmed from the intensity of her love for him, peace be upon him.

3:41 It is no wonder, then, when we learn that our Mother ‘Aishah, may Allah be pleased with her,

3:47 was the most beloved of his wives to him, peace be upon him.

3:52 Evidence that this care was not linked to her designated day

3:59 is that her applying perfume to the Prophet, peace be upon him, at Dhu al-Hulayfah was on the night of Sunday,

4:06 and her applying perfume to the Prophet, peace be upon him, on the Day of Sacrifice

4:11 was on the day of Saturday.

4:13 If her day had been Saturday night/Sunday at Dhu al-Hulayfah,

4:18 her turn could not have come again until nine days later,

4:23 because the Prophet, peace be upon him, had nine wives at that time.

4:29 Consequently, her day would have been Monday night/Tuesday, the third day of Eid.

4:37 Even clearer than that

4:39 is the narration indicating that she would apply perfume to him whenever he intended to visit the House,

4:45 and this could not all have occurred on her designated day.

4:50 In this, there is a reminder for you, my sister pilgrim:

4:53 to care for your husband just as our Mother ‘Aishah, may Allah be pleased with her, did with the Prophet, peace be upon him,

5:01 during Hajj and outside of Hajj.

5:04 Take care of his attire, his fragrance, and everything related to him,

5:09 according to your capacity and ability.

5:12 Do not use travel and the exhaustion of Hajj as an excuse,

5:15 for our Mother ‘Aishah, may Allah be pleased with her, did not use that as an excuse.

5:23 A woman’s fear of menstruation before the Tawaf al-Ifadah.

5:27 The thing a woman fears most regarding menstruation during Hajj

5:32 is for it to arrive before the Tawaf al-Ifadah,

5:35 as it would delay her from the tawaf and detain her guardian with her.

5:39 Therefore, we find women keen to reach the Sacred House quickly for the Tawaf al-Ifadah.

5:46 This eagerness sometimes causes menstruation to begin before its time

5:52 due to stress or exhaustion.

5:55 Therefore, we advise women to remain calm during Hajj

5:58 and to avoid rushing, for fear of miscalculating their movements,

6:03 which increases their fatigue and causes their cycle to arrive prematurely.

6:08 Perhaps this fear of the onset of menstruation

6:11 is what drives a woman to pressure her guardian not to spend the night in Muzdalifah,

6:17 and to depart from there even before midnight,

6:20 in order to perform the Tawaf al-Ifadah.

6:23 This is one of the mistakes women make during Hajj.

6:26 Hajj is undoubtedly a hardship.

6:29 The hardship is greatest on the Day of ‘Arafah and the Day of Sacrifice.

6:34 On the Day of ‘Arafah, the pilgrim woman spends her time from the morning

6:38 in movement, dhikr, and reading the Qur’an until noon,

6:43 then she devotes herself to supplication until sunset,

6:46 and then she moves to Muzdalifah.

6:49 If she does not stop for a while in Muzdalifah to rest,

6:53 and then sets out to complete the rest of the rites,

6:56 she exhausts and tires herself,

6:59 which may cause the very thing she does not want: the onset of menstruation before its time.

7:05 We can provide women with types of service that comfort their bodies

7:12 and alleviate the hardship of their Hajj,

7:15 but we cannot remove their fear of menstruation occurring before the Tawaf al-Ifadah,

7:22 because it is an innate matter.

7:25 In fact, this fear spreads to everyone connected to the woman, from her sisters and friends who are with her,

7:33 and even to her guardian if he is someone who understands her condition.

7:39 This is what happened to the Mothers of the Believers during Hajj.

7:43 Our Mother ‘Aishah, may Allah be pleased with her, says:

7:47 "We were afraid that Safiyyah would menstruate before she performed the ifadah."

7:52 The Tawaf of the Mothers of the Believers on the Day of Sacrifice.

7:57 After our Mother ‘Aishah, may Allah be pleased with her, became pure and cleansed herself from her menstruation,

8:04 she set out to the Sacred House to perform the Tawaf al-Ifadah.

8:09 This was her first tawaf during the Farewell Pilgrimage.

8:13 Our Mother ‘Aishah, may Allah be pleased with her, says:

8:17 "We went out for his Hajj until we arrived at Mina,"

8:21 "then I became pure, so I went out from Mina and performed the ifadah around the House."

8:26 Our Mother ‘Aishah, may Allah be pleased with her, went out

8:29 with all the Mothers of the Believers for the Tawaf al-Ifadah.

8:33 Our Mother ‘Aishah, may Allah be pleased with her, says:

8:36 "We performed Hajj with the Prophet, peace be upon him,"

8:40 "and we performed the ifadah on the Day of Sacrifice."

8:43 Our Mother ‘Aishah, may Allah be pleased with her,

8:47 was very close to the Prophet, peace be upon him,

8:51 informing him of her condition and consulting him regarding what she was going through.

8:56 Therefore, when she became pure, she informed him,

9:00 and he commanded her to circumambulate the House.

9:03 Our Mother ‘Aishah, may Allah be pleased with her, says:

9:06 "When the Day of Sacrifice arrived, I became pure,"

9:10 "so the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, commanded me,"

9:13 "and I performed the ifadah."

9:15 She did not limit herself to circumambulating the House

9:18 when she went to Makkah,

9:21 but she also performed the tawaf and the sa‘i.

9:24 As it came in the hadith of Jabir Ibn ‘Abdullah, may Allah be pleased with them both:

9:29 He said: "When she became pure,"

9:32 "she performed the tawaf around the Ka‘bah and between al-Safa and al-Marwah."

9:37 Her return from the ‘Umrah

9:39 and the Prophet’s, peace be upon him, meeting with her.

9:45 When ‘Aishah finished performing the rites of the ‘Umrah,

9:49 she returned to the place where she had arranged to meet the Prophet, peace be upon him.

9:54 ‘Aishah, may Allah be pleased with her, said:

9:57 "The Prophet, peace be upon him, met me,"

10:00 "while he was ascending from Makkah,"

10:03 "and I was descending from it,"

10:06 "or I was ascending and he was descending from it."
