This was among the factors that had a profound impact during the early days of Islam.

And it was the greatest honor I ever received in this world.

The day that Allah sent peace to me through Jibril.

And he gave me glad tidings of a house in Paradise made of hollowed pearls.

Therein shall be no clamor, nor shall there be any fatigue.

Death overtook me three years before the migration.

I am the grandfather of the poet Al-Farazdaq.

[He] who used to boast about me and say

He found the one who buried daughters alive and revived the buried child, so she was not buried.

I arrived in the presence of the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him.

Then Islam was presented to me

So she accepted Islam.

And he taught me verses from the Qur'an.

And I heard him reciting

“And whoso doeth good an atom's weight will see it then,” (99:7)

I performed deeds in the pre-Islamic era.

So, do I have any reward for it?

Two of my she-camels, which were young and strong, went astray.

So I went out searching for them on my camel.

I saw two tents in an open space of land.

I found an elderly man in one of them.

While he was speaking to me and I was speaking to him

and I have freed three hundred and sixty female slaves.

I would buy each one of them for twenty she-camels and a camel.

'A man will enter upon you from this mountain pass,

nor did he see me except that he would smile.

'Will you not relieve me from Al-Khalsah?'

It was a house worshipped in the pre-Islamic era,

called the Yemeni Ka'bah.

So I set out to it with one hundred and fifty horsemen

to demolish it and relieve the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him,

But I complained to Allah's Messenger, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him,

and mentioned to him that I was not firm on horseback.

So he struck my chest with his hand and said:

'O Allah, make him firm,

and make him a guide, rightly guided.'

So I went to it and burned it with fire.

And I had sent my servant to buy me a horse.

He found a horse that impressed him,

so he negotiated with its owner

until it reached 300 dirhams.

And the horse was worth more than that.

When the servant brought the horse and its owner to me to receive the price,

I said to him:

'For how much did you buy the horse?'

He said:

'For 300 dirhams.'

So I said to the owner of the horse:

'Your horse is worth 500.'

The servant was displeased with me.

So the man said:

'I am satisfied.'

So I said:

'Rather, it is worth 800 dirhams.'

He said:

'I am satisfied.'

So I gave him 800 dirhams

and took the horse.

So the servant said:

So I said to him:

and I used to handle my father's affairs in herding and trade.

And I was the Prophet's, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, eyes in Makkah at the time of the Hijrah.

So I would listen for news for him during the day,

then I would bring him and his companion food when darkness fell,

and inform him of the news of Quraysh.

And I would spend the night with them until dawn.

Then I would wake up in Makkah as if I had spent the night there.

This was for the entire three days they remained in the cave.

I married Atikah bint Zayd, may Allah be pleased with her.

She was among the most beautiful of women,

and the most complete in intellect and wisdom.

So I became preoccupied with her, neglecting much good.

And I missed participating with the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, in his expeditions.

So my father blamed me for that,

and ordered me to divorce her.

So I divorced her, despite my intense love for her.

When my father saw my sadness over her

and my regret for what I had done because of her,

he ordered me to take her back.

So I took her back,

and remained with her until she passed away.

And I participated with the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, in the conquest of Makkah,

and the subsequent battles.

And I had bought a garment for the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, to be shrouded in.

Then I abandoned this garment,

and the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, was not shrouded in it.

So I took it and said, "I will keep it until I shroud myself in it."

Then I said:

"The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, was not shrouded in it,

and I will be shrouded in it?"

So I sold it and gave its price as charity.

I was severely wounded on the day of the Battle of Hunayn,

when one of them threw an arrow at me,

and I sustained a deep wound.

So I treated it,

but I still felt the pain of that wound.

And after the death of the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him,

the wound flared up again.

So I died forty nights after him,

which was at the beginning of the caliphate of Abu Bakr, may Allah be pleased with him.

So he prayed over me,

and Umar ibn Al-Khattab descended into my grave,

and my brother Abdur Rahman, may Allah be pleased with them.
