and I was one of the keys to victory for the Muslims

accompanied by a number of disbelievers from Quraysh,

So I went straight to Abu Jahl

and struck him a blow that fractured his skull.

They seized me and tied me up,

but my maternal uncle Abu Lahab intervened

until he freed me from their grip.

He then said to my mother, "Do you not see your son?

He has made himself a shield defending Muhammad!"

She replied, "It is the best day of his life,

for he has brought the truth from Allah."

"Have you also followed Muhammad?"
