0:28 They may corrupt her relationships with those she loves.
0:31 And they may harm her in other matters.
0:34 A woman is fragile.
0:37 She cannot face all these evils on her own.
0:41 She must have a helper and a protector to guard her.
0:45 And there is no protector for mankind except Allah, the Exalted in His Majesty.
0:49 Thus, it is incumbent upon a person to seek refuge in Allah from these evils.
0:55 Herein lies the upbringing of the Prophet, peace be upon him, for ‘A’ishah.
1:00 He taught her to seek refuge in Allah from every evil.
1:04 Especially during times when these evils and tribulations are widespread.
1:09 ‘A’ishah said:
1:11 The Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, took my hand.
1:16 He showed me the moon when it rose.
1:18 Then he said:
1:20 “Seek refuge in Allah from the evil of this darkness when it settles.”
1:25 Among the rights and duties of a wife upon her husband
1:29 is that he protects her from what would corrupt her life.
1:33 Either through practical protection that he provides himself,
1:37 or by teaching her the methods of prevention against the evils that corrupt her life.
1:42 Since the method of the Prophet, peace be upon him, in educating his family
1:48 was to capitalize on the events around him,
1:51 he capitalized on the rising of the bright moon on a clear night
1:56 to take the hand of ‘A’ishah, may Allah be pleased with her,
1:59 to teach her what would protect her from the evils that might confront her.
2:04 He said to her:
2:06 “Seek refuge in Allah from the evil of this darkness when it settles.”
2:11 Ibn Rajab, may Allah have mercy on him, said:
2:14 “It is the night when it grows dark.”
2:16 For it is then that the devils of jinn and mankind spread.
2:21 Seeking refuge from the moon is because it is the sign of the night.
2:25 Ibn Taymiyyah, may Allah have mercy on him, said:
2:28 “The moon is the sign of the night.”
2:31 Likewise, the stars only rise and are seen at night.
2:35 So he commanded her to seek refuge from that.
2:38 It is a command to seek refuge from the sign, guide, and marker of the night.
2:43 And the guide necessitates that which is guided to.
2:46 If the evil of the moon exists,
2:49 then the evil of the night exists.
2:52 The moon has an influence that others do not have.
2:55 Therefore, seeking refuge from the evil resulting from it is more emphatic.
3:00 Seeking refuge is turning to Allah,
3:03 and clinging to His presence against the evil of every possessor of evil.
3:07 For none protects from evils except Allah.
3:10 It is therefore incumbent upon a woman to cling to the presence of Allah,
3:15 and to turn to Him so that He may protect her from these evils.
3:18 Seeking refuge in Allah trains the Muslim to manifest their poverty before Allah,
3:23 and that there is no power nor strength except through Allah.
3:27 It distances one from self-reliance in facing these evils and tribulations.
3:33 The evils that confront a woman are linked to the devils of jinn and mankind.
3:39 There is no way to face them
3:42 except by seeking the help of Allah and seeking refuge in Him from them.
3:47 The Prophet, peace be upon him, indicated through his guidance to ‘A’ishah
3:52 that the night and darkness are times when evils spread,
3:56 especially on moonlit nights,
3:59 which a woman might think that the light of the moon on these nights
4:04 is sufficient for her to see her way in the darkness of the night.
4:08 But the matter is otherwise.
4:11 Ibn Taymiyyah, may Allah have mercy on him, said:
4:14 “The Exalted mentioned seeking refuge from the evil of creation in general,
4:19 then He specified the command to seek refuge from the evil of the darkness when it settles.”
4:24 This is the time when its evil becomes widespread.
4:27 At night, conspiracies are woven against women.
4:31 At night, satellite channels broadcast their poisons against women
4:36 via satellites.
4:39 At night, activities that corrupt women increase.
4:43 And if the nights are virtuous, like the nights of Ramadan,
4:47 the devils strive to corrupt them for the woman,
4:51 so that she does not benefit from fasting or prayer.
4:55 We seek refuge in Allah from the evil of the devils.
4:58 Because of the abundance of evils that spread by night and day,
5:02 and which the devils of jinn and mankind work upon,
5:06 Allah revealed two surahs to us.
5:10 They are among the greatest of the protective incantations (Mu'awwidhat),
5:12 with which the Muslim seeks refuge from these evils.
5:16 They are Surah al-Falaq and Surah al-Nas.
5:19 They contain the seeking of refuge from all types of evils.
5:24 Ibn Taymiyyah, may Allah have mercy on him, said:
5:27 “Surah al-Falaq contains the seeking of refuge from the evil of creation, generally and specifically.”
5:33 That is why it is said in it, “The Lord of the Daybreak (al-Falaq).”
5:36 And it is said in this one, “The Lord of mankind.”
5:39 For the One who splits the dawn with light
5:42 removes, by the good in His light, the evil that is in the darkness.
5:46 And the One who splits the seed and the date stone after they have been bound,
5:50 removes what is in the knots of the blowers (sorcerers).
5:53 For the splitting of the seed and the date stone is greater than untying the knots of the blowers.
5:58 Likewise, envy is from a person’s narrowness and stinginess;
6:03 his heart does not expand for the blessings Allah has bestowed upon him.
6:06 So the Lord of the Daybreak removes what results from the narrowness and stinginess of the envious person.
6:12 He, the Exalted, does not split anything except for good.
6:16 He is the Splitter of the dawn with the guiding light and the radiant lamp,
6:21 through which is the well-being of the servants.
6:24 And the Splitter of the seed and the date stone with types of fruits and sustenance,
6:28 which are the provision for people and beasts.
6:32 Man is in need of attaining benefit from guidance and provision.
6:38 This is achieved through the 'Falaq' (the splitting/daybreak).
6:40 And the Lord who split for people that by which their benefits are attained
6:45 is the One to be sought for refuge from that which harms people.
6:48 One asks Him for the completion of His favor
6:50 by diverting harmful things away from His servant upon whom He began His favor.
6:55 The splitting of one thing from another
6:57 is a proof of perfect power,
7:00 and bringing a thing out from its opposite,
7:02 just as He brings the living from the dead and the dead from the living.
7:07 This is a type of 'Falaq'.
7:09 He, the Exalted, is capable of repelling the harmful opposite with the beneficial opposite.
7:15 So seek refuge, my dear sister, in Allah from the evil of the devils of jinn and mankind.
7:21 For they want to divert you from the obedience of Allah.
7:24 And there is no salvation for you from their evil
7:27 without seeking refuge in Allah and seeking His help.
7:31 We will continue in a future meeting, if Allah wills.
7:35 And praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds.
