0:28 Among these matters is the relationship with individuals connected to the family.

0:34 This relationship may lead to their frequent presence in the home.

0:39 It may also lead to a strong emotional attachment,

0:42 stemming from the love and affection held by one of the family members,

0:47 which then becomes apparent in their behavior.

0:49 If there is no consensus between the spouses regarding such a person,

0:54 jealousy often arises between them.

0:57 Problems then occur, or are fabricated without the true cause being stated.

1:03 The Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, was keen in his upbringing of his household

1:10 to address this problem before it occurred.

1:14 He guided women in particular toward etiquettes that prevent such problems from arising.

1:21 And because we are speaking about the truthful one, daughter of the truthful one,

1:25 whom the Prophet, peace be upon him, raised under his own care,

1:30 we will mention the situations she experienced,

1:33 which contain the Prophet’s instruction to her or to others,

1:38 relevant to our topic in this article.

1:41 The first situation concerns the love of the Prophet, peace be upon him,

1:47 for Usamah ibn Zayd, may Allah be pleased with them both.

1:51 The Prophet, peace be upon him, declared in more than one situation

1:56 his love for Usamah and announced it to the people.

2:00 For it is narrated from ‘Abdullah ibn ‘Umar, may Allah be pleased with them both,

2:04 that the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, sent an expedition

2:09 and appointed Usamah ibn Zayd as its commander.

2:12 The people criticized his command,

2:15 so the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, stood up and said:

2:19 “If you criticize his command,

2:22 you criticized the command of his father before him.

2:26 By Allah, he was indeed worthy of command,

2:30 and he was among the most beloved of people to me,

2:34 and this one is among the most beloved of people to me after him.”

2:38 Narrated by Al-Bukhari.

2:40 Thus, the Prophet, peace be upon him, announced to everyone

2:44 that he loved Usamah ibn Zayd,

2:47 even though Usamah was from outside the Prophet’s immediate family.

2:52 So how did the Prophet, peace be upon him, raise his family to love him?

2:57 We mentioned before

2:59 that the Prophet, peace be upon him, utilized life situations

3:04 to educate his household and the Companions around him,

3:08 may Allah be pleased with them all.

3:12 Among these situations

3:15 is what was narrated by ‘Aishah, may Allah be pleased with her,

3:18 where she said:

3:20 The Prophet, peace be upon him, wanted to remove some dirt from Usamah.

3:25 ‘Aishah said:

3:27 “Leave him to me, so that I may be the one to do it.”

3:31 He said:

3:32 “O ‘Aishah, love him,

3:35 for I love him.”

3:37 Narrated by Al-Tirmidhi.

3:39 Indeed, agreement between spouses on loving a young child from outside the family

3:45 prevents harm from befalling the child from any party.

3:49 Especially if this child is from another wife of the husband,

3:53 for the wise woman loves her husband’s children to gain his love,

3:59 as he loves those who love them.

4:02 The matter may also be the reverse,

4:04 where the upbringing of the children

4:07 is to align with their father in who he loves.

4:10 This is the second situation,

4:12 which ‘Aishah, may Allah be pleased with her, narrates, saying:

4:17 The wives of the Prophet, peace be upon him, sent

4:21 Fatimah, daughter of the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him,

4:25 to the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him.

4:29 She asked permission to enter while he was lying with me under my garment,

4:34 so he gave her permission.

4:36 She said: “O Messenger of Allah,

4:38 your wives have sent me to you

4:41 asking you for justice regarding the daughter of Abu Quhafah.”

4:44 I remained silent.

4:46 She said:

4:48 The Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, said to her:

4:52 “O my daughter,

4:54 do you not love what I love?”

4:56 She said: “Yes.”

4:58 He said:

4:59 “Then love this one.”

5:01 She said:

5:03 Fatimah stood up when she heard that from the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him,

5:09 and returned to the wives of the Prophet, peace be upon him,

5:13 and informed them of what she had said

5:16 and what the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, had said to her.

5:20 They said to her:

5:22 “We do not see that you have helped us at all.

5:25 Return to the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him,

5:29 and say to him:

5:31 ‘Your wives ask you for justice regarding the daughter of Abu Quhafah.’”

5:35 Fatimah said:

5:37 “By Allah, I will never speak to him about her again.”

5:41 Narrated by Muslim.

5:43 The statement of the Prophet, peace be upon him, to his daughter Fatimah,

5:48 “O my daughter,

5:49 do you not love what I love?”

5:52 is worthy of being said to every daughter of the Muslims.

5:57 If the daughter wishes to be dutiful to her father,

6:02 then applying this word of the Prophet, peace be upon him, practically

6:08 is sufficient to keep the daughter’s heart free from malice, hatred, and resentment,

6:14 and preserves her tongue from backbiting and slander.

6:18 It is also sufficient to prevent problems between children and stepmothers.

6:23 Among the etiquettes the Prophet, peace be upon him, guided the wife toward

6:29 to avoid falling into such problems

6:33 based on differing stances toward people,

6:37 is that the wife should not permit anyone to enter the marital home

6:42 except those whom the husband approves of.

6:45 The Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, said:

6:48 “It is not lawful for a woman to fast while her husband is present except with his permission,

6:53 and she should not give permission for anyone to enter his house except with his permission.”

6:57 Narrated by Al-Bukhari.

6:59 And he, peace be upon him, said:

7:02 “Know that you have a right over your wives,

7:05 and your wives have a right over you.

7:08 As for your right over your wives,

7:11 they should not allow those you dislike to tread upon your bedding,

7:14 nor should they give permission in your houses to those you dislike.”

7:18 Narrated by Al-Tirmidhi.

7:20 This hadith indicates the difference in stance toward people between spouses.

7:26 And so that this difference does not affect the relationship between the spouses,

7:31 the woman was commanded to keep people she loves—

7:35 but whom the husband does not love—away from the marital home.

7:39 They should not enter the house,

7:41 nor should they come near the family,

7:44 to protect this family from problems.

7:47 If this etiquette is for the protection of the family,

7:51 then a woman should not allow anyone the husband dislikes to enter her home.

7:55 So how can we invite into our hearts those whom Allah, the Almighty, dislikes,

8:00 or those who are hostile to the Prophet, peace be upon him,

8:04 and mock his Sunnah,

8:06 or attack the honor of his wives, the Mothers of the Believers?

8:11 Do we not love those whom the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, loves?

8:17 Let us then love ‘Aishah, may Allah be pleased with her,

8:21 name our daughters after her,

8:24 defend her,

8:26 and spread her biography among the people.

8:29 May she be a role model for every woman who loves Allah and His Messenger, peace be upon him.

8:36 We will continue in a future meeting, if Allah wills.

8:40 And praise be to Allah, Lord of the Worlds.
