0:46 Rather, they can be a cause for forgetting what one has already learned.

0:54 Among their consequences is the obscuring or removal of knowledge.

1:00 And many a wound strikes a vital spot.
1:03 Or causes one to lose blessings.
1:04 Or scatters goodness and brings about forgetfulness.
1:08 It does not befit a scholar or a student of knowledge.
1:11 To become entangled in sins that cloud their mind.
1:15 Or corrupt their righteousness.
1:17 Or disturb their intellect and fiqh.
1:20 Whoever senses the sweetness of knowledge and the gravity of sins.
1:24 Will guard their uprightness.
1:26 And protect their knowledge.
1:28 And discipline their conduct.
1:29 And will not indulge with those who indulge in falsehood.
1:32 Ibn al-Qayyim, may Allah have mercy on him, the student of Shaykh al-Islam.
1:37 Has precious and beneficial words in his book, Al-Jawab al-Kafi.
1:41 Among the ill effects of disobedience upon the one who commits it are the following:
1:45 That disobedience bequeaths to its perpetrator a sense of alienation in the heart.
1:49 And becomes a cause for being deprived of knowledge and divine success.
1:53 This is because the heart is the house of the Lord.
1:56 In terms of reverence and glorification.
1:58 So if it is filled with anything other than the remembrance of its Master, it becomes dark.
2:02 And in proportion to the servant’s turning away from the remembrance of Allah.
2:05 They will experience distress, constriction of the chest, and inner turmoil.
2:10 And wherever they go in life, they will not be happy.
2:14 For the righteous person is the truly happy one.
2:18 Ibn 'Abbas and Anas, may Allah be pleased with them both, said:
2:21 Indeed, a good deed brings light to the heart.
2:24 Radiance to the face.
2:26 Strength to the body, and abundance in provision.
2:30 And love in the hearts of creation.
2:33 And indeed, evil deeds bring darkness to the heart and ugliness to the face.
2:37 Weakness in the body and a decrease in provision.
2:41 And hatred in the hearts of creation.
2:44 Among these consequences is being deprived of acts of obedience.
2:47 This is because obedience is a means of drawing near to the Sovereign, the Judge.
2:51 A servant will not find the sweetness of obedience except by distancing themselves from disobedience.
2:57 That is why He, the Almighty, said regarding the hypocrites:
3:00 “And if they had wished to go forth they would assuredly have made ready some equipment, but Allah was averse to their being sent forth and held them back and it was said (unto them): Sit ye with the sedentary!” (9:46)
3:04 But Allah disliked their mobilization.
3:07 So He held them back, and it was said, "Stay with those who stay behind."
3:12 Al-Fudayl, may Allah have mercy on him, said:
3:14 If you are unable to perform the night prayer and fast during the day.
3:19 Then know that you are deprived and shackled.
3:22 Your sins have shackled you.
3:24 A young man said to Al-Hasan al-Basri:
3:27 I am unable to perform the night prayer.
3:30 He replied, "Your sins have shackled you."
3:33 And Allah is the Grantor of success.
