Whoever wishes to look upon the gatherings of the Prophets, peace be upon them,

let him look upon the gatherings of the scholars.

The gatherings of the scholars resemble the states of the Prophets

because of their piety and their attachment to their Creator, the Exalted,

and their longing for the Hereafter,

and their bearing of the prophetic mission of calling to Allah,

and their earnest message,

in thought, action, and diligent effort.

And because their gatherings are assemblies of remembrance, light, and guidance,

they are free from vain talk,

distant from falsehood,

and avoided by backbiting and slander.

And how could they not be gatherings of the Prophets,

when they were founded to glorify Allah and worship Him,

and to call to His pleasure?

For this reason, they are exalted and magnificent,

for they are the greatest of gatherings,

the most pleasant of meetings, and the finest of lessons.

No one ever attended them without feeling joyful,

no student ever sought them without benefiting,

and no seeker ever repaired to them without feeling relieved and healed.

They are the cure for every ailment and the quenching of every thirst.

Mercies envelop them,

tranquility descends upon them,

the angels surround them,

and Allah mentions those present in the highest assembly.

there is the revival of a heart,

the purification of a soul,

the reform of conduct,

a serious upbringing,

an awakening illumination,

and a remedial admonition.

Those who frequent them

always return with goodness, enjoyment, and benefit.

Even if there were nothing in them

other than protecting one's time from ruin,
