A praise that You love and with which You are pleased.

And to You belongs praise after You are pleased.

O Allah, to You belongs praise; we cannot enumerate Your praises.

You are as You have praised Yourself.

And I bear witness that there is no deity but Allah, alone, with no partner.

“All that is in the heavens and all that is in the earth glorifieth Allah; unto Him belongeth Sovereignty and unto Him belongeth praise, and He is Able to do all things.” (64:1)

And if the glad tidings have not arrived at their appointed time,

He will bring them at their proper time, so be patient for them,

Even if the world has narrowed upon you and become desolate.

Tomorrow, the tears of your eyes will flow with joy,

And you will see your life rained upon with wishes fulfilled.

You will see the circumstances of yesterday become a clear sky,

Even though they were the very things that exhausted you when they were difficult.

It is Allah, may His Majesty be glorified.

The Remover of grief and the Reliever of distress.

The Savior of the lost and the Rescuer of the drowning.

The Answerer of prayers.

The good is in what Allah has chosen for you.

If you were to perceive the Unseen and its subtle kindness,

You would know that the good is in what He has chosen for you.

And I bear witness that our master, our Prophet, and our beloved, Muhammad, is the servant of Allah and His Messenger.

His chosen one and His intimate friend.

The possessor of the Promised Basin.

And the upheld banner.

And the Praiseworthy Station.

The possessor of the most radiant face,

And the most luminous forehead.

O Messenger of Allah, I would sacrifice my own soul for you,

As well as my family, my sons, and my daughters.

I shall always persist in sending blessings upon you,

And my lips shall never tire of doing so.

We are with the Beloved, following in his footsteps,

And we are with the Beloved until death.

By Allah, it was not out of stinginess that poems were not composed,

As long as night and day pass over us.

Upon Your servant, Messenger, Prophet, and beloved, Muhammad,

And grant him abundant peace until the Day of Judgment.

“The pilgrimage is (in) the well-known months, and whoever is minded to perform the pilgrimage therein (let him remember that) there is (to be) no lewdness nor abuse nor angry conversation on the pilgrimage. And whatsoever good ye do Allah knoweth it. So make provision for yourselves (Hereafter); for the best provision is to ward off evil. Therefore keep your duty unto Me, O men of understanding.” (2:197)

“O Children of Adam! We have revealed unto you raiment to conceal your shame, and splendid vesture, but the raiment of restraint from evil, that is best. This is of the revelations of Allah, that they may remember.” (7:26)

Listen, O servants of Allah,

To the word of Allah.

Our Lord, the Almighty and Majestic, says:

“And whatever of comfort ye enjoy, it is from Allah. Then, when misfortune reacheth you, unto Him ye cry for help.” (16:53)

Indeed, by Allah,

How beautiful is the word of Allah, how sweet,

And how magnificent.

Indeed, the attainment of benefits,

And the warding off of harms,

Nay, every good that a servant possesses,

Is a bounty from Allah upon him.

From knowledge, faith, deeds, and offspring,

Leads us to perceive the blessings of Allah.

Allah, the Almighty, said:

“Let man consider his food:” (80:24)

And He, the Glorified, said:

"So let man observe from what he was created."

The believer sees the manifest blessings of Allah,

And the hidden ones,

And that increases them in faith,

And draws them closer to their Lord,

In acknowledgment of His favor and His bounties.

He, the Glorified, said:

“They make it a favour unto thee (Muhammad) that they have surrendered (unto Him). Say: Deem not your Surrender a favour unto me; but Allah doth confer a favour on you, inasmuch as He hath led you to the Faith, if ye are earnest.” (49:17)

Whom Allah accepts and whose deeds He improves:

“And We have commended unto man kindness toward parents. His mother beareth him with reluctance, and bringeth him forth with reluctance, and the bearing of him and the weaning of him is thirty months, till, when he attaineth full strength and reacheth forty years, he saith: My Lord! Arouse me that I may give thanks for the favour wherewith Thou hast favoured me and my parents, and that I may do right acceptable unto Thee. And be gracious unto me in the matter of my seed. Lo! I have turned unto Thee repentant, and lo! I am of those who surrender (unto Thee).” (46:15)

And he reached forty years of age,

He says, "My Lord, enable me to be grateful for Your favor

And upon my parents,

And to work righteousness of which You will approve."

And when the heart of the servant is filled with faith,

The blessing of gratitude for blessings is realized for him,

His actions become righteous,

His character is purified,

And success accompanies him.

He, the Glorified, said:

“And know that the messenger of Allah is among you. If he were to obey you in much of the government, ye would surely be in trouble; but Allah hath endeared the faith to you and hath beautified it in your hearts, and hath made disbelief and lewdness and rebellion hateful unto you. Such are they who are the rightly guided.” (49:7)

And He has made it pleasing in your hearts.

Among the requirements of remembering the blessings of Allah

Is acknowledging them,

And attributing them to the Bestower, may His Majesty be glorified.

And whoever monitors the blessings,

Does not cease to mention their Giver,

Who is Allah, may His Majesty be glorified,

The Bestower of all the blessings

In which we move about.

Indeed, acknowledging the blessings of Allah

Is a cause for contentment.

Indeed, acknowledging the blessings of Allah

Is a cause for happiness.

Indeed, acknowledging the blessings of Allah

Is a cause for tranquility.

Indeed, acknowledging the blessings of Allah

Is a key to every good.

And it makes the tongue of the Muslim busy throughout his day and night,

With praise, gratitude, and commendation.

Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds.

And when the Muslim acknowledges the blessings of Allah,

And admits the favors of his Lord,

Which surround him,

He uses these blessings

In achieving the pleasure of Allah.

This is the Prophet of Allah, Sulayman,

Peace be upon him,

Calling upon his Lord:

"My Lord, enable me

To be grateful for Your favor

Which You have bestowed upon me

And upon my parents,

And to work righteousness of which You will approve,

And admit me by Your mercy

Into [the ranks of] Your righteous servants."

And this is the Interlocutor of Allah, Musa,

Peace be upon him,

Making a covenant with his Lord.

“He said: My Lord! Forasmuch as Thou hast favoured me, I will nevermore be a supporter of the guilty.” (28:17)

And when the Muslim acknowledges

The blessings of Allah,

He displays these blessings,

Not boasting or acting arrogantly.

About what Allah has bestowed upon you,

And in the hadith

Which was narrated by Ahmad and al-Nasa'i,

He loves to see the effect of His blessing upon him."

And the succession of blessings,

And their continuity,

In the life of the servant,

Is a glad tiding of good for its possessor,

If he perceives their right,

And fulfills their obligation,

And employs them in the path of gratitude and worship.

As for the one who is deluded by himself,

And is impressed by the blessings Allah has given him,

So he attributes them to himself,

As the Qur'an mentioned,

On the tongue of Pharaoh,

When he said:

“And Pharaoh caused a proclamation to be made among his people saying: O my people! Is not mine the sovereignty of Egypt and these rivers flowing under me? Can ye not then discern?” (43:51)

“He said: I have been given it only on account of knowledge I possess. Knew he not that Allah had destroyed already of the generations before him men who were mightier than him in strength and greater in respect of following? The guilty are not questioned of their sins.” (28:78)

Then the blessing,

In the case of that servant,

Is a curse,

And the good in his case is evil,

And the well-being in his case is a trial.

Indeed, the greatest gratitude, O servants of Allah,

Is to hasten to worship.

Allah the Exalted said:

Rather, worship Allah alone.

And how few are the grateful ones.

Whoever wishes to thank Allah

for his day,

and within his day,

let him recite this supplication.

The Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said:

"Whoever says, when he wakes up in the morning:

'O Allah, whatever blessing has come to me

or to any of Your creation,

it is from You alone, with no partner,

so to You be the praise,

and to You be the thanks,'

has indeed fulfilled the gratitude for that day."

A Muslim, O servants of Allah, should hasten to the door of supplication,

asking his Lord to inspire him to be grateful,

to compensate for his shortcomings and failures regarding the blessings.

In the hadith, the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said in his supplication:

"And make us grateful for Your blessings,

praising You for them,

and accepting them,

and complete them for us."

and do not disobey Him using His own blessings.

A man came to Ibrahim Ibn Adham, may Allah have mercy on him,

my soul tempts me to commit sin,

Is there a way out?"

He said, "Yes.

I will show you a way to disobey Him,

He was amazed and asked,

"How can I do that?"

"If you want to disobey Allah,

then do not eat from His provision."

how can I not eat from the provision of Allah,

when everything on earth belongs to Allah,

the earth is His kingdom,

and the sky is His sky?"

He said to him,

"You want to eat from His provision and disobey Him?

Are you not ashamed before Him?"

He asked, "Is there any other way out?"

He said, "Yes.

If you want to disobey Allah,

then do not live on His earth,

and do not sleep in His kingdom."

He said, "And where shall I go?

And where shall I live and sleep?"

He said, "You live on His earth,

and enjoy yourself in His dwelling,

and you want to disobey Him?

Are you not ashamed before Him?"

He asked, "Is there any other way out?"

If you want to disobey Him on His earth,

and in His kingdom,

and disobey Him using His blessings and favors,

knows the secret and what is even more hidden.

think that blessings are limited to food and drink,

and that is a mistaken assumption.

For blessings are many,

they cannot be counted or enumerated.

Every movement,

and every breath,

contains many blessings

that only Allah knows.

A man said to Abu Tamimah,

"How are you this morning?"

He said, "I am between two blessings,

sins that Allah has covered,

so no one can reproach me for them,

and affection

that Allah has cast into the hearts of the servants,

which my deeds did not reach."

for how successful are those who seek forgiveness.

how many great and magnificent blessings

do we enjoy and move within, while we neither remember nor are mindful of them?

Is not Allah's covering of us and His not exposing our faults and sins

a blessing beyond price?

Indeed, by Allah.

What about the blessing of Allah upon us in the safety of our honor?

What about the blessing of Allah upon us in our families?

What about the blessing of Allah upon us in our children?

What about the blessing of Allah upon us in so many other blessings?

There is much, much more than that.

Sleep, for example, is a blessing that deserves gratitude.

Some people, when they want to sleep,

need sedatives to fall asleep,

while you sleep with a tranquil eye,

without sedatives.

So, O Allah, to You be the praise.

Offspring are a great blessing,

and some have been deprived of them.

Allah has said regarding them:

"He bestows upon whom He wills,"

and He did not say "He provides for whom He wills,"

for it is a gift and a favor from Allah.

I ask Allah to provide for everyone who has been deprived of offspring,

to provide them with righteous offspring.

Your entering the bathroom

alone,

and your leaving alone,

without anyone exposing your private parts

or helping you,

is a blessing from Allah.

O Allah, heal our sick, O Generous One.

Praise Allah, O servants of Allah,

and look at those who are below you,

so that you may know the blessing of Allah upon you.

A mat in your house

is better than a bed in a hospital.

A tightness in provision

is better than a tightness in breathing.

And know, O servant of Allah,

that wealth is the lowest degree of provision,

and that health and well-being

may be the highest degree of provision.

Two blessings

in which many people are deceived:

health and free time.

If you, O servant of Allah,

possess a safe house that shelters you,

a wife who pleases you,

health that helps and suffices you,

and a daily provision that is enough for you,

then it is as if the whole world has been gathered for you.

So be content, O servant of Allah, with what Allah has apportioned for you.

Be content with Allah,

for whoever is content, for him is contentment.

In the end,

look for the things you see as easy and trivial;

you will know that if not for Allah making them easy,

they would be harder than a camel passing

through the eye of a needle.

Finally, servants of Allah,

if you are saddened, my noble brother,

if you are saddened,

then be dignified in your sadness,

praising in your tears,

elegant in your pain.

For sadness, like joy,

carries with it

the details of your patience.

This is a gift from the Lord of the servants;

He will remain for a short while,

then he will return to his Lord,

carrying, as we have mentioned,

Finally, remember, O servants of Allah,

remember always and forever,

And let that be upon the testimony of faith.

so do not withhold Your bounty from us because of our sins.
