0:07 The treasures of Allah are vaster than human imagination.

0:14 A sermon by the honorable Sheikh,

0:17 Khalid Ibn 'Abdullah al-Hamudi,

0:19 May Allah preserve him.

0:21 Praise be to Allah, who created in the most perfect way,

0:26 And perfected all that He fashioned.

0:29 Everything bows in submission to His might,

0:32 And yields to His greatness.

0:35 Glory be to Him and praise; in His mercy lies hope,

0:39 And in His pardon lies our longing.

0:42 Praise be to Allah; how much bounty He has poured forth,

0:46 And how much harm He has averted.

0:49 There is no preventer of what He gives, and no giver of what He withholds.

0:54 I bear witness that there is no god but Allah, alone, with no partner.

1:00 “All that is in the heavens and all that is in the earth glorifieth Allah; unto Him belongeth Sovereignty and unto Him belongeth praise, and He is Able to do all things.” (64:1)

1:05 Our Lord is Allah,

1:07 Our Provider is Allah,

1:09 Our Creator is Allah.

1:12 The God of the first and the last,

1:15 And He is the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

1:19 It is right for creation to take pride,

1:23 That their Master is Allah, the Generous.

1:27 It is right for them to take pride, all the pride,

1:32 That He is the Most Gracious and the Merciful Lord.

1:36 And I bear witness that our master, our prophet, and our beloved, Muhammad, is the servant of Allah and His messenger,

1:43 His chosen one and His intimate friend.

1:46 The chosen Messenger,

1:49 And the selected Prophet.

1:51 May my father and mother be sacrificed for him, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him.

1:56 Indeed, sending blessings upon the Prophet Muhammad,

2:00 Erases sins and raises one's rank,

2:04 Removes worries from the heart of the sorrowful,

2:08 And replaces tears with smiles.

2:12 May Allah send blessings upon him, for how he revived among us,

2:15 The loftiest meanings in the Lord of the verses.

2:20 And may He reward him on our behalf with the best reward given,

2:24 To the messengers of guidance for their call and their sermons.

2:28 O Allah, send peace, blessings, and increase,

2:31 Upon Your servant, Your messenger, Your prophet, and Your beloved, Muhammad,

2:36 And upon his family and his Companions,

2:39 And those who are guided by his guidance,

2:41 Follow his Sunnah, and tread in his footsteps,

2:45 And grant him abundant peace until the Day of Judgment.

2:49 Now then, servants of Allah,

2:51 I advise you and myself to fear Allah.

2:54 “O ye who believe! Observe your duty to Allah with right observance, and die not save as those who have surrendered (unto Him)” (3:102)

3:02 O community of believers,

3:05 Today we shall speak of a long journey in a short time,

3:13 Concerning a man who was one of the scribes of the revelation,

3:18 And suddenly, the man disbelieved.

3:22 I will pause at this point.

3:25 Yes, let us learn his story,

3:30 So that we may know that the treasures of Allah,

3:35 Are vaster than human imagination.

3:38 And this is our subject:

3:41 The treasures of Allah are vaster than human imagination.

3:47 This man is the Companion,

3:50 'Abdullah Ibn Sa'd Ibn Abi al-Sarh.

3:54 A Qurayshi who shares lineage with the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him.

4:01 He was the foster brother of 'Uthman Ibn 'Affan.

4:07 He was ten years old when the Prophet was sent.

4:11 He reached maturity and embraced Islam,

4:14 Then he migrated to Medina after his conversion.

4:18 He could read and write,

4:21 And he was one of the scribes of the revelation.

4:24 Then, under unknown circumstances,

4:27 'Abdullah Ibn Sa'd disbelieved,

4:30 And apostatized from Islam,

4:32 And returned to Mecca.

4:34 He would sit with the disbelievers of Quraysh,

4:38 Saying, "Muhammad does not know what he is saying;

4:42 I am being inspired,

4:45 Just as he is being inspired."

4:47 Some of the salaf were of the view,

4:50 That this verse refers to him:

4:54 "And who is more unjust than one who invents a lie about Allah

4:58 Or says, 'It has been inspired to me,'

5:01 While nothing has been inspired to him."

5:03 “Who is guilty of more wrong than he who forgeth a lie against Allah, or saith: I am inspired, when he is not inspired in aught; and who saith: I will reveal the like of that which Allah hath revealed? If thou couldst see, when the wrong-doers reach the pangs of death and the angels stretch their hands out (saying): Deliver up your souls. This day ye are awarded doom of degradation for that ye spake concerning Allah other than the truth, and used to scorn His portents.” (6:93)

5:08 When the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, conquered Mecca,

5:13 He did not pardon everyone in Mecca,

5:19 As some people think.

5:21 Rather, he declared a group to be liable for execution,

5:24 And demanded their killing,

5:26 Even if they were clinging to the curtains of the Ka'bah,

5:31 Due to the extent of their harm.

5:33 Among them was 'Abdullah Ibn Sa'd

5:37 Ibn Abi al-Sarh.

5:39 'Abdullah went,

5:41 He went to 'Uthman,

5:43 And said to him, "O my brother,

5:45 My crime is the greatest of crimes,

5:48 And I have come repentant and remorseful,

5:52 So intercede for me with the Messenger of Allah,

5:55 Peace and blessings of Allah be upon him."

5:57 And 'Uthman Ibn 'Affan,

5:59 Refused to let his brother perish,

6:02 So he brought him, holding his hand,

6:05 To the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him,

6:08 Seeking pardon.

6:10 He extended his hand to the Messenger of Allah,

6:12 To shake it in pledge of pardon and Islam,

6:16 But the Messenger of Allah refused to shake his hand,

6:19 He refused to shake his hand.

6:21 When the matter dragged on,

6:23 The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, extended his hand,

6:27 And pardoned him.

6:28 'Abdullah embraced Islam,

6:30 And the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, wished,

6:34 That the Companions had noticed,

6:37 His delay in shaking hands,

6:39 So that one of them might have stood up and killed him.

6:42 He rebuked them for this,

6:44 And 'Abbad Ibn Bishr said to him,

6:47 "By the One who sent you with the truth,

6:49 I was following your gaze from every direction,

6:53 Hoping that you would signal to me,

6:56 So that I could strike off his head."

6:58 He, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said,

7:00 "It does not befit a prophet,

7:04 To have the treacherous eyes."

7:07 The Islam of

7:09 Ibn Abi al-Sarh became excellent,

7:11 And he fought alongside the Messenger of Allah,

7:13 Peace and blessings of Allah be upon him,

7:15 And fought alongside his successors in all the battles.

7:19 'Uthman Ibn 'Affan appointed him,

7:21 As governor of Egypt,

7:23 When it was conquered after 'Amr Ibn al-'As.

7:26 He was the first governor of Egypt,

7:28 In the time of 'Umar Ibn al-Khattab.

7:30 'Abdullah Ibn Sa'd took over,

7:33 The command of the army in Egypt,

7:35 And he was the commander of the first naval victory for the Muslims,

7:41 In the Battle of Dhat al-Sawari.

7:44 He led the conquests of the Maghreb,

7:46 And had the honor of opening them,

7:49 And he died a martyr in its battles.

7:52 Glory be to Allah, O servants of Allah,

7:54 Glory be to Allah.

7:56 If you had seen 'Abdullah,

7:58 On the day he was writing the revelation,

8:00 You would have said, "How can I attain the status of this man?"

8:05 And if you had seen him on the day he lied about the Prophet,

8:08 You would have said, "How can this man ever believe?"

8:11 But the treasures of Allah,

8:13 The treasures of Allah,

8:15 Are vaster than human imagination.

8:17 The waves of life,

8:19 Lower a person and raise him,

8:22 And a person's deeds,

8:23 Can raise him or cause him to fall.

8:26 There is no day in which you see,

8:29 That you are the worst of creation,

8:31 But that the opportunity is still there,

8:34 To become among the most beloved of creation to Allah.

8:38 Allah does not grow weary,

8:40 Of extending His hands to us,

8:42 Until we grow weary of turning to Him.

8:46 “And Allah would turn to you in mercy; but those who follow vain desires would have you go tremendously astray.” (4:27)

8:49 And whoever does evil,

8:51 Or wrongs himself,

8:52 Then seeks the forgiveness of Allah,

8:57 “Yet whoso doeth evil or wrongeth his own soul, then seeketh pardon of Allah, will find Allah Forgiving, Merciful.” (4:110)

9:00 "Inform My servants..."

9:02 “Announce, (O Muhammad) unto My slaves that verily I am the Forgiving, the Merciful,” (15:49)

9:05 “And that My doom is the dolorous doom.” (15:50)

9:08 O Allah, accept our repentance,

9:10 And keep us firm upon Your religion,

9:12 Until we meet You.

9:14 And let not our hearts deviate after You have guided us,

9:18 And grant us from Yourself mercy,

9:21 Indeed, You are the Bestower.

9:23 May Allah bless me and you with the Great Qur'an,

9:26 And benefit me and you with what is in it.

9:27 “This (which) We recite unto thee is a revelation and a wise reminder.” (3:58)

9:30 I say what you hear,

9:31 And I seek the forgiveness of Allah for me and for you,

9:32 So seek His forgiveness,

9:34 For He is the Forgiving, the Merciful.

9:38 Praise be to Allah,

9:40 And I bear witness that there is no god but Allah,

9:43 And I bear witness that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah,

9:46 May Allah send peace and blessings upon him.

9:48 Now then, servants of Allah,

9:50 Indeed, the treasures of Allah, as we mentioned,

9:52 Are vaster than human imagination.

9:56 So trust in Allah, O servant of Allah,

9:58 And be content with Him, and be content with what Allah has decreed.

10:02 Allah took charge of the affair of Yusuf,

10:05 So He made the caravan in the desert need water,

10:08 To bring him out of the well.

10:11 Then He made the Aziz of Egypt need,

10:13 Children, so that he would adopt him.

10:16 Then He made all of Egypt need food,

10:20 So that he would become the Aziz of Egypt.

10:22 If Allah takes charge of your affair,

10:24 He prepares for you the causes of happiness,

10:27 While you do not even realize it.

10:29 So entrust your affair to Allah,

10:31 And trust in Allah.

10:33 And O servant of Allah,

10:35 O my blessed brother,

10:37 Do not hesitate to return to Allah,

10:40 No matter how great your sins may be,

10:42 He who shielded you while you were under the roof of disobedience,

10:46 By Allah,

10:47 By Allah,

10:49 Will not abandon you under the wing of repentance.

10:52 O Allah, we have placed our trust in You,

10:55 And we have turned our backs to You for refuge,

10:58 And we have entrusted all our affairs to You.

11:01 You are the Succorer,

11:03 And You are the Generous,

11:05 And You are the Merciful,

11:07 And You are the One who answers the desperate,

11:10 And removes all harm.

11:12 Have mercy on us, O Allah,

11:14 With a mercy that makes us independent of the mercy of anyone other than You.

11:18 O Allah, have mercy on us with a mercy that makes us independent of the mercy of anyone other than You.

11:24 O Allah, keep us steadfast upon Your religion until we meet You.

11:27 O Allah, let us taste the sweetness of humility in prayer,

11:31 And increase our submissiveness to You.

11:33 And accept our humbleness before You in prostration and bowing.

11:38 O Allah, grant us abundant gifts,

11:40 And forgive our transgressions,

11:43 And grant us a life of contentment.

11:45 O Allah, we seek refuge in You from the loss of Your favor,

11:49 And the change of Your well-being,

11:51 And the suddenness of Your retribution,

11:53 And all that incurs Your wrath.

11:55 O Allah, fill our lives with joy, happiness, and delight,

12:00 And with tranquility, serenity, and gladness.

12:04 O Allah, grant us a good ending,

12:06 And take our souls while You are pleased with us.

12:09 Protect us from the evils of tribulations,

12:11 Both those that are apparent and those that are hidden.

12:14 Grant us security in our homelands,

12:16 And rectify our leaders and those in authority over us.

12:19 And grant victory to our soldiers at the borders.

12:22 And accept the Hajj of the pilgrims,

12:25 And reward their efforts,

12:27 And forgive their sins,

12:29 And do not deprive us of their reward.

12:31 And return them to their families and homes,

12:35 Safe and successful.

12:37 O Allah, we have called upon You as You commanded us,

12:40 So answer us as You promised us.

12:42 And do not deprive us of the best of what You have because of the worst of what we have.

12:46 “Glorified be thy Lord, the Lord of Majesty, from that which they attribute (unto Him)” (37:180)

12:49 And peace be upon the messengers,

12:51 And praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds.
