0:00 In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

0:04 The echo of the pulpits.

0:06 The biting cold.

0:11 A sermon by the honorable Sheikh,

0:13 Khalid Ibn Abdullah al-Humudi, may Allah preserve him.

0:17 Praise be to Allah.

0:20 Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds.

0:22 And the ultimate outcome belongs to the righteous.

0:25 I bear witness that there is no deity worthy of worship except Allah alone, having no partner.

0:29 And I bear witness that Muhammad is His servant and messenger.

0:32 May the peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, his family, and all his companions.

0:36 To proceed, servants of Allah:

0:38 Our second reflection

0:40 concerns the biting cold

0:44 that our brothers abroad are suffering from.

0:48 Warmth, O servants of Allah,

0:50 is a blessing whose value is only realized by those deprived of it.

0:55 Allah has favored us with it, saying:

0:59 "And the grazing livestock He created;

1:02 for you therein is warmth..."

1:04 Yet, in some lands of the Muslims,

1:07 warmth has departed,

1:09 and stability has departed.

1:11 Their skies are filled with thunder, lightning, and storms,

1:15 their land with snow, cold, and mud,

1:19 and their homes with cold, frost, and hunger.

1:23 Snow has restricted the movement of their lives,

1:27 disrupted their affairs,

1:29 severed their roads,

1:31 halted their work,

1:34 and exposed them to hardships and dangers.

1:37 So what of our brothers

1:40 who have been driven out and displaced from their homes,

1:44 exposed in this biting cold,

1:48 wandering without shelter,

1:50 beneath the rain and snow,

1:53 sleeping on the mud,

1:55 covered only by the storms,

1:57 dwelling in tents,

2:00 with hunger in their bellies

2:02 and disease in their bodies?

2:04 It is, by Allah,

2:06 a most severe suffering

2:08 and a most profound tragedy.

2:10 Do you know how winter meets me,

2:13 how one huddles in it,

2:16 and how the cold affects the teeth

2:19 when they chatter and the vast space echoes them?

2:22 We bear, O servants of Allah,

2:25 an inescapable duty

2:28 toward these people displaced in the snow,

2:31 especially the wealthy among us.

2:33 It is a duty

2:35 mandated by religion and brotherhood.

2:37 "The example of the believers in their mutual love,

2:40 mercy, and compassion

2:43 is like the body;

2:44 if one part complains,

2:46 the rest of the body rallies to it

2:48 with sleeplessness and fever."

2:50 Agreed upon.

2:52 "Whoever relieves a Muslim of a distress,

2:54 Allah will relieve him of a distress from the distresses of the Day of Resurrection."

2:59 Agreed upon.

3:01 Therefore, it is our duty

3:03 to assist these afflicted people

3:05 with everything we can,

3:08 including wealth, blankets, clothing,

3:11 food, medicine, and shelter,

3:14 or else we shall be questioned about them on the Day of Resurrection.

3:17 "O son of Adam,

3:19 I asked you for food, but you did not feed Me."

3:21 He will say, "O Lord,

3:23 how could I feed You,

3:25 and how could I feed You when You are the Lord of the worlds?"

3:28 He will say, "Did you not know

3:30 that My servant so-and-so asked you for food,

3:32 and you did not feed him?

3:34 Did you not know

3:35 that had you fed him, you would have found that with Me?"

3:38 Narrated by Muslim.

3:40 And woe to a neighbor

3:42 who sees his neighbor in poverty, need, and want

3:46 and does not help him.

3:48 The Prophet, peace be upon him, said:

3:50 "He does not believe in me

3:52 who goes to sleep with a full stomach

3:54 while his neighbor is hungry beside him,

3:57 and he is aware of it."

3:59 Narrated by al-Tabarani.

4:01 So, O servants of Allah,

4:02 look to your brothers, look to your brothers.

4:04 Fear Allah regarding them.

4:06 Stand with them,

4:07 help them,

4:09 through the known, official channels.

4:13 I ask Allah, the Majestic,

4:15 to relieve their distress.

4:17 I ask Allah to relieve their distress.

4:19 O Allah, Possessor of Majesty and Honor,

4:21 and of the Might that cannot be overcome,

4:23 O Possessor of bounty and generosity,

4:25 O Allah, Hearer of supplication,

4:27 O Giver of vast gifts,

4:29 O Allah, the cold is one of Your creations,

4:32 acting by Your command.

4:34 O Allah, You who sent down warmth

4:36 upon Hudhayfah Ibn al-Yaman

4:38 on the day of the Confederates,

4:40 O Allah, send down Your warmth and mercy

4:42 upon our brothers in the Levant,

4:45 Yemen, and Iraq,

4:47 and those who are in tents,

4:49 and those who are in the open,

4:51 covering themselves with the sky

4:53 and sleeping upon the earth.

4:55 O Allah, they are hungry, so feed them;

4:58 they are naked, so clothe them;

5:00 they are oppressed, so grant them victory.

5:02 They are oppressed, so grant them victory.

5:04 O Allah, be for them a helper when helpers are scarce,

5:08 and be for them a supporter and protector when supporters are few.

5:12 O Allah, we have called upon You in our distress as You commanded us,

5:15 so answer us as You promised us.

5:17 Do not deprive us of the best of what You have because of the worst of what we have,

5:20 and do not deprive us of Your bounty because of our sins.

5:23 “Glorified be thy Lord, the Lord of Majesty, from that which they attribute (unto Him)” (37:180)

5:26 And peace be upon the messengers.

5:28 And praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds.
