0:35 A sermon by the honorable Sheikh.
0:37 Khalid Ibn 'Abdullah al-Hamudi.
0:39 May Allah preserve him.
0:42 Praise be to Allah, equal to the number of all things.
0:45 Praise be to Allah, filling all things.
0:48 Praise be to Allah, equal to the number of what He has created.
0:52 And filling all that He has created.
0:54 Praise be to Allah, a praise that has no limit and cannot be counted.
0:58 A good, blessed praise therein.
1:02 O Allah, to You be praise, equal to the weight of Your Throne.
1:05 And the pleasure of Your Self.
1:07 And the number of Your creation and the ink of Your words.
1:11 O Allah, to You be praise, and we cannot enumerate the praise due to You.
1:15 You are as You have praised Yourself.
1:18 And I bear witness that there is no god but Allah, alone, with no partner.
1:24 He is the Subtle, the All-Aware.
1:28 He is the Subtle, glorified be His Majesty.
1:32 The subtlety of the Subtle One toward His creation is never hidden.
1:36 Through His beauty, we are spared from worries, and that suffices us.
1:40 He is our sufficiency; how many a calamity have we felt constrained by.
1:46 Yet His hidden subtlety dispelled its distress.
1:51 And I bear witness that our master, our prophet, and our beloved, Muhammad, is the servant of Allah and His Messenger.
1:57 His chosen one and His intimate friend.
2:01 The most beautiful of people.
2:03 The most perfect of people.
2:05 The best of people.
2:07 The bravest of people.
2:09 The most forbearing, the most generous, the most God-fearing, and the most pious of them.
2:16 He is the Messenger of Allah.
2:18 And the beloved of Allah.
2:20 And His prophet and His chosen one.
2:23 In sending blessings upon you, I find what suffices me.
2:27 And through it, I possess a certainty in which my conviction has flourished.
2:31 It is the cure; whenever you complain of pain.
2:35 You will find its essence healing me.
2:39 Through it, I please my Lord and hope for His pardon.
2:43 And I attain from His blessings what satisfies me.
2:47 In sending blessings upon you, O best of creation.
2:51 There is a light for my religion toward the path of piety.
2:56 So may the prayer of my Lord and peace be upon you.
3:00 By my father and mother, you are the best of creation.
3:03 O Allah, send prayers, peace, increase, and blessings.
3:07 Upon Your servant, Messenger, Prophet, and beloved, Muhammad.
3:11 And upon his family and his Companions.
3:14 And grant him abundant peace until the Day of Judgment.
3:18 Now then, servants of Allah.
3:20 I advise you and myself to fear Allah.
3:23 For it is the commandment of Allah to us and to those before us.
3:27 “Unto Allah belongeth whatsoever is in the heavens and whatsoever is in the earth. And We charged those who received the Scripture before you, and (We charge) you, that ye keep your duty toward Allah. And if ye disbelieve, lo! unto Allah belongeth whatsoever is in the heavens and whatsoever is in the earth, and Allah is ever Absolute, Owner of Praise.” (4:131)
3:32 That you fear Allah.
3:34 So fear Allah, servants of Allah.
3:37 And hold fast to His firm rope.
3:40 And remain steadfast upon His straight path.
3:44 Verily, hearts rust.
3:47 And their polishing is the Holy Qur'an.
3:50 The Qur'an is the true spring.
3:54 That never runs dry.
3:57 It is the constitution that fulfills the needs of the Ummah.
4:02 And it is right for it to boast of it at a time when.
4:07 Other nations and peoples are being driven.
4:11 Driven toward man-made constitutions.
4:15 And human laws.
4:18 The Holy Qur'an.
4:20 Is the eternal miracle of this religion.
4:23 And it is the clear Book.
4:25 Which was revealed to the noble Prophet.
4:28 Peace and blessings of Allah be upon him.
4:31 And if the previous prophets.
4:34 Peace be upon them.
4:36 Were given miracles.
4:38 That people believed in during their time.
4:42 Then those miracles ended.
4:44 With their deaths.
4:46 And the passing of their nations.
4:48 Then that which was given to Muhammad.
4:51 May Allah bless Muhammad.
4:53 Peace and blessings of Allah be upon him.
4:55 Remained.
4:57 And will remain a miracle.
4:59 Realized by those who come later.
5:01 After those who came before.
5:03 And seen by those who follow.
5:05 Just as those who preceded them saw it.
5:08 And that, by my Lord, is a miracle.
5:11 That corresponds to the nature of this religion.
5:14 Which Allah intended.
5:16 To be the final religion.
5:19 And corresponds to the Qur'an.
5:21 Which Allah intended.
5:24 To be the final book.
5:26 Revealed from the heavens.
5:28 He, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said.
5:31 Regarding all of that.
5:33 There is no prophet among the prophets.
5:36 But was given signs.
5:39 The likes of which people believed in.
5:42 But what I have been given is.
5:45 Revelation.
5:46 That Allah revealed to me.
5:48 So I hope to have the most.
5:52 Followers on the Day of Resurrection.
5:54 Narrated by al-Bukhari and Muslim.
5:57 And since the Arabs.
6:00 Were masters of eloquence, dialogue, and debate.
6:04 The Qur'an was revealed.
6:06 To challenge them all.
6:08 Both their humans and their jinn.
6:10 In eloquence and rhetoric.
6:13 Say: If mankind and the jinn gathered.
6:16 “Say: Verily, though mankind and the jinn should assemble to produce the like of this Qur'an, they could not produce the like thereof though they were helpers one of another.” (17:88)
6:20 They would not bring the like of it.
6:22 “Say: Verily, though mankind and the jinn should assemble to produce the like of this Qur'an, they could not produce the like thereof though they were helpers one of another.” (17:88)
6:26 And beyond that.
6:28 The Holy Qur'an was able.
6:31 To pierce their hearts.
6:33 While they were still in disbelief and misguidance.
6:36 It continued to influence them.
6:39 Until its people returned.
6:42 To guidance and faith.
6:44 Jubayr Ibn Mut'im says.
6:46 Ibn 'Adi al-Qurashi al-Nawfali.
6:50 May Allah be pleased with him.
6:52 He was one of the elders of Quraysh.
6:54 And their scholars of genealogy.
6:56 He said: I heard the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him.
7:01 Reciting Surah al-Tur in the Maghrib prayer.
7:04 And when he reached this verse.
7:07 “Or were they created out of naught? Or are they the creators?” (52:35)
7:10 Or were they the creators?
7:12 “Or did they create the heavens and the earth? Nay, but they are sure of nothing!” (52:36)
7:15 But they do not have certainty.
7:17 “Or do they own the treasures of thy Lord? Or have they been given charge (thereof)?” (52:37)
7:20 Or are they the controllers?
7:22 He said: My heart almost flew.
7:25 Narrated by al-Bukhari.
7:27 And although his conversion to Islam was delayed.
7:30 Until between the Treaty of Hudaybiyyah and the Conquest of Makkah.
7:33 And before Khaybar.
7:34 There was the story of 'Utbah Ibn Rabi'ah.
7:37 Which is famous.
7:39 And its chain of narration is sound.
7:41 Its summary is.
7:43 That Quraysh chose their best men.
7:47 To speak to the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him.
7:51 So Abu al-Walid came.
7:53 'Utbah Ibn Rabi'ah.
7:55 And spoke to the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him.
7:59 He spoke to him at length.
8:02 While he was listening to him.
8:04 When he finished, he said.
8:06 Have you finished, O Abu al-Walid?
8:08 He said: Yes.
8:10 He said: Then listen to me.
8:12 He said: I will.
8:13 Then the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said.
8:17 In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
8:20 Ha-Mim.
8:22 “A revelation from the Beneficent, the Merciful,” (41:2)
8:26 A Book whose verses have been detailed.
8:29 An Arabic Qur'an.
8:32 For a people who know.
8:34 As a bringer of good tidings and a warner.
8:36 But most of them turned away.
8:38 So they do not hear.
8:40 “And they say: Our hearts are protected from that unto which thou (O Muhammad) callest us, and in our ears there is a deafness, and between us and thee there is a veil. Act, then. Lo! we also shall be acting.” (41:5)
8:43 From what you call us to.
8:46 And in our ears is deafness.
8:48 “And they say: Our hearts are protected from that unto which thou (O Muhammad) callest us, and in our ears there is a deafness, and between us and thee there is a veil. Act, then. Lo! we also shall be acting.” (41:5)
8:51 So work, indeed we are working.
8:54 Then the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, continued.
8:59 Reciting it to him.
9:01 When 'Utbah heard it from him.
9:04 He listened intently to it.
9:05 And placed his hands behind his back.
9:08 Leaning on them, listening to him.
9:11 Then the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, finished.
9:15 At the prostration verse, so he prostrated.
9:17 Then he said.
9:19 You have heard, O Abu al-Walid, what you have heard.
9:22 So it is up to you.
9:24 Then 'Utbah stood up to go to his companions.
9:28 Some of them said to others.
9:30 We swear by Allah.
9:32 Abu al-Walid has come to you.
9:34 With a face different from the one he left with.
9:37 When he sat with them, they said.
9:40 What is behind you, O Abu al-Walid?
9:42 He said: Behind me.
9:44 Is that I heard a speech.
9:46 By Allah, I have never heard the like of it.
9:49 By Allah, it is not poetry.
9:51 Nor is it magic.
9:53 Nor is it soothsaying.
9:55 O assembly of Quraysh.
9:57 Obey me.
9:58 And leave him to Me.
10:00 Leave this man alone,
10:02 and leave this man,
10:04 and leave him to what he is engaged in; stay away from him.
10:06 For by Allah,
10:08 his words,
10:10 which I have heard from him,
10:12 will have great consequences.
10:14 If the Arabs overcome him,
10:16 then you have been spared by others.
10:18 But if he prevails over the Arabs,
10:20 then his kingdom is your kingdom,
10:22 his glory is your glory,
10:24 and you will be the happiest of people because of him.
10:26 They said, "He has bewitched you,
10:28 by Allah, O Abu al-Walid."
10:31 He replied, "This is my opinion regarding him;
10:33 do as you see fit."
10:35 Such is the Qur'an, O servants of Allah;
10:38 it affects every living heart.
10:42 The Qur'an is the beauty of life.
10:45 The Qur'an is the balm for hearts.
10:48 The Qur'an is elevation and guidance.
10:52 The Qur'an is the path to happiness.
10:55 The Qur'an is the way of safety.
10:58 The Qur'an, and the Qur'an,
11:00 is the true, sincere friend
11:02 who never betrays.
11:05 Whoever makes it their companion
11:07 has surely succeeded,
11:09 and whoever abandons it has surely lost.
11:11 O Allah, make us among the people of the Qur'an,
11:14 who are Your people and Your chosen ones.
11:17 O Allah, make us among the people of the Qur'an,
11:20 who are Your people and Your chosen ones.
11:23 O Allah, make us among the people of the Qur'an,
11:26 who are Your people and Your chosen ones.
11:28 May Allah bless me and you through the Great Qur'an,
11:31 and benefit me and you with the verses and wise reminders it contains.
11:36 I say what you hear, and I seek Allah's forgiveness for me and for you, so seek His forgiveness,
11:40 for He is the All-Forgiving, the Most Merciful.
11:44 Praise be to Allah for His benevolence,
11:47 and thanks be to Him for His guidance and grace.
11:50 I bear witness that there is no god but Allah alone, with no partner, in reverence to His majesty,
11:56 and I bear witness that Muhammad is His servant and messenger,
11:59 the caller to His pleasure. May the peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, his family, and his companions,
12:05 and may He grant them abundant peace until the Day of Judgment.
12:08 To proceed, O servants of Allah,
12:10 because of the profound impact of the Noble Qur'an,
12:14 I will recount to you this incident
12:17 that took place in a nearby neighboring Arab country,
12:22 specifically in Upper Egypt.
12:26 A preacher I know told me about it,
12:29 and I do not presume to know his standing before Allah, but he is a reliable and trustworthy man.
12:33 He said there was, in a village in Upper Egypt,
12:37 a train station.
12:39 A few minutes after the Isha prayer,
12:42 one of the young men shouted
12:44 that someone had been struck by the train.
12:48 Everyone who was near the accident gathered;
12:53 they surrounded the young man.
12:55 He was nineteen years old,
12:59 struck by the train,
13:01 yet he was still alive,
13:03 his body trembling violently.
13:07 The young man was still alive.
13:09 One of them approached him,
13:11 cradled his head in his hands,
13:14 and whispered in his ears,
13:16 saying, "Say: There is no god but Allah."
13:19 "Say: There is no god but Allah."
13:21 His body shook even more,
13:24 and the young man was gasping and convulsing.
13:27 He said, "Say: There is no god but Allah."
13:29 Then the young man turned to him and said,
13:32 "I bear witness that there is no god but Allah,
13:35 and I bear witness that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah."
13:38 Then the body grew still,
13:40 the soul became calm,
13:41 and it departed to its Creator.
13:44 The young man died upon the testimony of faith.
13:46 He shouted, "Bring a cloak,
13:50 so we can carry him on it."
13:52 The night was pitch black,
13:54 and the darkness was intense.
13:56 Some of the youths lit up their mobile phone lights.
14:01 They carried him to a nearby cafe.
14:04 They searched his clothes
14:06 for something that would identify his family
14:09 or lead to his home.
14:12 One of them took his right hand,
14:15 then shouted and said, "O Allah!"
14:18 "He is a Christian;
14:20 he has a cross on his hand."
14:22 Everyone was astonished,
14:24 and they became confused about what to do:
14:27 whether to leave him,
14:28 even though he had died upon the profession of Tawhid,
14:31 or to return him to his family
14:33 so he could be buried in the Christian cemeteries.
14:36 They all carried him in silence and tears.
14:39 Then his father met them
14:41 at the entrance to the village,
14:43 for the young man
14:45 was from a neighboring village
14:48 to the one where he died.
14:50 He died near the mosque,
14:52 and all the people of that village were Muslims.
14:55 When his father saw them,
14:57 he bowed his head, weeping,
14:59 and said, "You will be surprised by what I am about to tell you.
15:03 I tell you this in shame:
15:06 my son
15:08 loved listening to the Qur'an."
15:10 "Yes, he was a Christian,
15:13 but he loved listening to the Qur'an of the Muslims."
15:17 "I used to enter his room
15:20 and always find him
15:22 with his phone earphones in his ears.
15:25 I would ask him, 'What are you listening to?'
15:28 He would reply, 'I am listening to songs, Father.'
15:31 I would approach him
15:33 and put on the earphones
15:35 only to discover it was the Qur'an.
15:37 I used to forbid him, scold him,
15:40 and rebuke him,
15:42 to the point that I told him,
15:44 'If you do not stop, I will kill you.'
15:46 He said, 'You will not be able to, Father,
15:49 and you will not be able to stop me
15:51 from my search for the Qur'an.'"
15:53 The attendees looked at one another
15:56 with joy mixed with tears.
15:59 They said to the grieving father,
16:01 "Your son died upon the profession of Tawhid;
16:05 he uttered the testimony of faith and then died."
16:07 The grieving father said,
16:09 "Is what you say true?"
16:12 They said, "Yes,
16:13 by Allah, he uttered it."
16:15 He said, "If that is the case,
16:18 then I also bear witness
16:21 to what my son bore witness to:
16:23 I bear witness that there is no god but Allah,
16:26 and I bear witness that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah."
16:29 It was a night of celebration and wedding,
16:31 not a funeral.
16:33 The attendees began
16:35 to praise and glorify Allah.
16:37 And he was buried in the Muslim cemetery.
16:40 Thus, O servants of Allah,
16:42 does the Qur'an
16:44 act upon souls.
16:46 So be among the people of the Qur'an,
16:48 and do not let a day pass you by—
16:50 do not let a day pass you by, O servant of Allah,
16:52 and O handmaid of Allah,
16:54 do not let a day pass you by
16:56 without having refreshed your eyes
16:59 by looking into the Book of Allah.
17:01 Read your daily portion, O servant of Allah, from the Qur'an
17:04 every day,
17:06 for this, by Allah, is the happiness
17:08 beyond which there is no greater happiness.
17:10 [Ta-Ha]
17:11 “We have not revealed unto thee (Muhammad) this Qur'an that thou shouldst be distressed,” (20:2)
17:15 Do not let your time spent looking at your phone
17:18 be more
17:20 than your time with the Qur'an.
17:21 O Allah, make us among the people of the Qur'an,
17:24 who are Your people and Your chosen ones.
17:26 O Allah, make us among the people of the Qur'an,
17:29 who are Your people and Your chosen ones.
17:31 O Allah, make us
17:33 among those who read the Qur'an and are moved by it.
17:35 O Allah, remind us of what we have forgotten of it,
17:38 teach us what we are ignorant of,
17:40 and grant us its recitation during the hours of the night
17:43 and at the ends of the day.
17:44 And make the Qur'an an intercessor for us.
17:47 O Allah, make the Qur'an an intercessor for us.
17:49 O Allah, forgive our sins,
17:51 conceal our faults,
17:52 accept our repentance, and seal our deeds with righteousness.
17:55 O Allah, if we fall short in our supplications,
17:58 You know our needs better.
18:00 And if we are deficient, You, glory be to You,
18:02 know our ultimate goals.
18:04 Nothing of our affairs or conditions is hidden from You.
18:07 So mend our broken hearts,
18:09 mend our broken hearts
18:11 with the overflow of Your mercy.
18:13 O You whose mercy encompasses all things,
18:15 have mercy on us with a mercy from Yourself
18:18 that makes us independent of the mercy of anyone else.
18:20 O Allah, protect us from the scattering of our affairs,
18:23 from the touch of harm,
18:24 from the constriction of the chest,
18:25 from the torment of the grave,
18:27 And the onset of poverty,
18:28 And the turning of the ages,
18:30 And hardship following ease,
18:32 And disobedience following righteousness.
18:34 Bestow upon us,
18:35 The continuity of well-being and concealment.
18:38 O Allah, grant us peace of mind,
18:41 And the rectification of our state,
18:42 And the acceptance of our deeds.
18:44 Bestow upon us the health of our bodies,
18:48 And protect us, O Ever-Living, O Sustainer,
18:50 Protect us from the evil of mankind and the jinn.
18:52 O Allah, we ask You for relief for every distressed person,
18:55 And a gift for every deprived person,
18:58 And healing for every sick person,
19:00 And mercy for every deceased Muslim,
19:02 And provision for every needy person,
19:04 And an answer to every supplication.
19:07 O Allah, make us among those who offer praise,
19:10 When receiving a gift.
19:12 O Allah, make us among those who offer praise when receiving a gift,
19:15 And among those who possess patience and seek reward during trials.
19:19 O Allah, grant us contentment and acceptance.
19:21 O Allah, grant us contentment and acceptance.
19:24 And conclude our lives with goodness,
19:26 And grant us the highest level of Paradise,
19:29 By Your mercy, O Most Merciful of the merciful.
19:31 “Glorified be thy Lord, the Lord of Majesty, from that which they attribute (unto Him)” (37:180)
19:34 And peace be upon the messengers,
19:36 And praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds.
