5:11 There he grew up and learned

5:14 He visited Damascus in his youth

5:17 He took it from the remnants of the honorable companions who recognized it

5:26 Signs of purity and signs of intelligence from an early age

5:31 He made people share his news and anecdotes

5:35 He is still a young boy

5:39 It was narrated that he was learning arithmetic from a book by a Jewish man from the people of the Dhimmah

5:48 So his Jewish friends gathered at the teacher

5:52 And he started talking about matters of religion

5:55 He listens to them from where they do not know

5:59 The teacher said to his friends

7:22 Iyas became angry and raised his voice against his opponent

7:26 The judge said to him

7:28 Lower your voice, boy

7:30 Your opponent is an old man of great age and power

7:34 Ayas said

7:36 But the truth is greater than him

7:39 The judge got angry and said:

7:42 The boy said

7:44 Who will speak my argument if I remain silent?

7:47 The judge became even more angry and said:

7:50 What I see you saying since you entered the Judicial Council is nothing but falsehood

10:37 People began to come to him from all directions

10:40 They throw before them whatever problems they encounter in science and religion

10:46 Some of them want knowledge

10:48 Others seek impotence and practice falsehood

10:53 From this, it is narrated that Dehqana came to his meeting and said:

10:58 O Abu Waila, what do you say about intoxicants?

11:02 He said it is forbidden

11:04 He said: What is the reason for its prohibition?

11:07 It is nothing more than fruit and water boiling over the fire

11:12 All of this is permissible and there is nothing wrong with it

11:15 He said, “You have finished your statement, Dahqan.”

11:18 I still have something to say

11:20 He said, “Rather, I am done.”

11:23 He said: If I took a handful of water and hit you with it

11:28 Does it hurt you?

11:29 He said no

11:31 He said, “Even if I took a handful of dirt and hit you with it.”

11:36 Does it hurt you?

11:38 He said no

11:39 And he said

11:40 If I took a handful of straw and hit you with it, would it hurt you?

11:46 He said, “No.” So he said, “If I took the dirt, then threw the straw on it, and poured water over them, then mixed it just as well.”

11:57 Then I placed the block in the sun until it dried, then I hit you with it. Did it hurt you?

12:04 He said, “Yes, and you may kill me.” He said, “This is the case with wine.” When its parts were gathered and wine was forbidden, it was forbidden.

12:15 When Iyasun became a judge, situations appeared in him that indicated his extreme intelligence, his resourcefulness, and his exceptional ability to reveal The facts

12:28 From this, two men sued him, and one of them claimed that he had deposited money with his friend

12:37 When he asked him to do so, he denied it, so Ayyasni asked the defendant about the deposit, but he denied it and said, “If my friend has proof, let him bring it, otherwise he only has an oath against me.”

12:54 When Ayas feared that the man would eat the money with his right hand, he turned to the depositor and said to him, “Where did you deposit the money?”

13:04 He said, “In such and such a place.” He said, “What is there in that place?” He said, “A large tree under which we sat and ate food together from its fruit.”

13:19 When we were about to leave, I gave him the money, and Iyas said to him, “Go to the place where the tree is. Perhaps when you come to it, it will remind you where you put your money.”

13:33 I alerted you to what you did to him, then come back to me to tell me what you saw. The man went to the place and Ayas said to the defendant, “Sit down until your friend comes.”

13:48 So he sat down, then Ayas turned to the litigants with him and began to judge between them while watching the man from a secret side, until when he saw that he had calmed down and was reassured, he turned to him and hastened to say:

14:05 Do you think your friend has reached the place where he deposited the money with you? The man said without saying it, “No, he is far from here.” Iyas said to him, “O enemy, by God, you deny the money and know the place where you took it. By God, you are a fool.”

14:28 The man was astonished and confessed to his betrayal, so he imprisoned him until his friend came and ordered him to return his deposit to him. It was also narrated that two men disputed with him over two velvet items that are placed on the head and draped over the shoulders.

14:49 One of them was a new, expensive green one, and the other was a worn-out red one. The plaintiff said, “I went down to the basin to wash myself and placed the green velvet with my clothes on the edge of the basin. My opponent came and placed his red velvet next to mine and went down to the basin.”

15:12 He went out before me and put on his clothes and took my velvet and threw it on his head and shoulders and on it. So I went out after him and followed him and demanded my velvet and he claimed that it was his.

15:29 Iyas said to the man accused, “What do you say?” He said, “It is my velvet and it is in my hand.” Iyas said to the man who was accused, “Do you have any evidence of it?” He said, “No,” so he said to a pilgrim with it, “Bring me a comb, and I will bring him.”

15:50 So he combed the hair on the heads of the two men, and from the head of one of them came out red fluff from the wool of the velvet, and from the head of the other came out green fluff, so he ruled that the red velvet would be given to the one with the red fluff and the green velvet to the one with the green fluff.

16:12 Among the news of his acumen and intelligence is that there was a man in Kufa who showed people righteousness and showed them piety and piety to the point that he was praised a lot, and some people took him as their trustee, entrusting him with their money when they traveled and making him a guardian for their children when they felt that the end was approaching.

16:37 So a man came to him and deposited money with him. When the man needed his money, he asked for it from him, but he denied it. So he went to Ayas and the man complained to him. He said to the complainant, “Tell your friend that you want to come to me?” He said no

16:57 He said to him, “If he spends, come back to me tomorrow.” Then he sent Ayas to the trustworthy man and said to him, “I have accumulated a lot of money for orphans who do not have a guarantor, and I decided to deposit it with you and make you their guardian. Is your home secure and your time sufficient?”

17:20 He said, “Yes, Judge.” He said, “Come to me the day after tomorrow and prepare a place for the money and bring with you porters to carry it.” The next day, the man complaining came and Iyas said to him, “Go to your friend and ask him for the money.”

17:42 If he denies it, then tell him, “I will file my complaint with the judge.” The man came to him and asked him for his money, but he refused to give it to him and denied it. He said to him, “If I file my complaint with the judge.” When he heard that from him, he gave him the money and his heart was pleased.

18:02 So the man returned to Iyas and said, “My friend has given me my rights, and may God reward you well.” Then the trustworthy man came to Iyas at his appointed time, with the porters with him, and he rebuked him, defamed him, and said to him, “What a miserable man you are, O enemy of God. You have made religion a trap for the world.”

18:26 But Iyasa, despite his great intelligence, his strength of character, and his quick wit, may have encountered someone who would challenge him, argument for argument, and cut him off from the means of speech and slander him. He narrated on his own authority that he said, “No one has ever defeated me except one man.”

18:48 This is because I was in the judicial council in Basra, and a man came to me and testified for me that such-and-such orchard belonged to so-and-so and identified it for me. So I wanted to test his testimony, so I said to him, “How many trees are in the orchard?” so he knocked a little.

19:09 Then he raised his head and said, “How long has our master the judge been ruling in this council?” I said, “For so many years.” He said, “How many timbers are there in the roof of this council?” I did not know, and I said, “You are right.” Then I approved his testimony.

19:29 When Iyas bin Muawiyah reached seventy-six years of age, he saw himself and his father in a dream riding on two horses, so he ran together, but he did not precede his father, and his father did not precede him, and his father had died at the age of seventy-six years.

19:50 One night, Ayas went to bed and said to his family, “Do you know what night this is?” They said, “No.” He said, “On this night, my father completed his life.” When they woke up, they found him dead.

20:09 May God have mercy on Iyasa Al-Qadi, for he was a rarity of the times and a marvel of time in terms of acumen, intelligence, searching for the truth and reaching it.
