0:18 “And slay them wherever ye find them, and drive them out of the places whence they drove you out, for persecution is worse than slaughter. And fight not with them at the Inviolable Place of Worship until they first attack you there, but if they attack you (there) then slay them. Such is the reward of disbelievers.” (2:191)

0:21 This calamity is a tribulation for the one who falls into it,

0:24 In that he would be eternally in the Fire on the Day of Resurrection should he die in that state.

0:30 It is also a tribulation for the people, as the leaders of disbelief lead them astray and spread disbelief among them.

0:36 A believer must be wary of shirk and never feel secure from it regarding his own soul.

0:41 Rather, he must constantly examine its various forms and manifestations.

0:44 Among the most severe of these today

0:46 Is shirk directed toward Allah, the Almighty, in His worship,

0:54 And who can feel secure from shirk after Ibrahim, peace be upon him?

0:58 Allah, the Almighty, says regarding His Khalil (Intimate Friend) and his supplication to his Lord:

1:02 "And [mention] when Ibrahim said, 'My Lord, make this city secure and keep me and my sons away from worshipping idols.'"

1:10 "My Lord, indeed they have led astray many among the people."

1:15 “My Lord! Lo! they have led many of mankind astray. But whoso followeth me, he verily is of me. And whoso disobeyeth me - Still Thou art Forgiving, Merciful.” (14:36)

1:19 “My Lord! Lo! they have led many of mankind astray. But whoso followeth me, he verily is of me. And whoso disobeyeth me - Still Thou art Forgiving, Merciful.” (14:36)

1:23 Below the level of major shirk

1:25 Is a lesser tribulation,

1:27 Yet it remains a dangerous one:

1:30 The tribulation of minor shirk,

1:33 Such as showing off (riya') and self-admiration ('ujb),

1:35 Or uttering polytheistic phrases unintentionally,

1:38 Like swearing by other than Allah.

1:41 The tribulation of doctrinal hypocrisy (nifaq).

1:45 This is a tribulation for the hypocrite in this world,

1:49 By committing this base and despicable character trait,

1:53 Which is founded upon deception, treachery, and betrayal.

1:56 It is also a tribulation for him on the Day of Resurrection,

1:59 As his abode will be in the lowest depths of the Fire.

2:03 Furthermore, hypocrisy is a tribulation for the Muslims,

2:06 Due to the deception it causes among them,

2:09 And the siding with the disbelievers against them,

2:11 And exposing the private affairs of the Muslims to the disbelievers,

2:14 And the discord they sow among the Muslims,

2:18 And their cheating and abandonment of them,

2:20 And their hatred for the rule of the Shari'ah and its people.

2:24 The tribulation of innovations (bid'ah) and their proponents.

2:28 This is a tribulation for the innovators themselves,

2:31 Due to the misguidance they commit against their own souls,

2:34 And the leading of others astray,

2:36 By deviating from that which was held by

2:39 The Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, and his Companions.

2:42 And due to what they expose themselves to

2:45 Of punishment on the Day of Resurrection,

2:47 While they think they are doing good deeds.

2:52 Among the most severe of innovations

2:54 Is the tribulation of the Khawarij,

2:56 Who declare Muslims to be disbelievers,

2:58 And deem their blood lawful to shed.

3:00 And the tribulation of the Murji'ah,

3:02 Who spread corruption and immorality

3:05 Through their corrupt creed,

3:07 For according to them, faith is merely affirmation (in the heart),

3:10 Regardless of what a person does.

3:13 Innovations are of two types:

3:15 A type that expels one from the fold of Islam,

3:17 Such as the innovation of the Rafidah Shi'a,

3:19 In whom major shirk has gathered,

3:22 Along with their extremism regarding their Imams,

3:25 Their belief in their infallibility,

3:27 And their belief that they possess knowledge of the unseen.

3:29 They are the worst enemies of the Ahl al-Sunnah.

3:32 And an innovation that does not expel one from the fold of Islam,

3:35 For those whose innovation has not led them into shirk

3:38 Or the kufr that expels one from the fold of Islam.

3:41 The tribulation of doubts (shubuhat),

3:44 And the clothing of truth with falsehood.

3:46 This is one of the effects of

3:50 The tribulation caused by the people of disbelief, innovation, and hypocrisy,

3:53 Who never cease to stir up doubts,

3:56 Cloaking truth with falsehood,

3:59 Distorting correct concepts,

4:02 And twisting words out of their proper contexts,

4:05 Interpreting them to incite tribulation,

4:07 And to deceive people,

4:09 By making truth appear as falsehood,

4:11 And falsehood as truth.

4:13 As Allah, the Almighty, said regarding them:

4:16 “He it is Who hath revealed unto thee (Muhammad) the Scripture wherein are clear revelations - they are the substance of the Book - and others (which are) allegorical. But those in whose hearts is doubt pursue, forsooth, that which is allegorical seeking (to cause) dissension by seeking to explain it. None knoweth its explanation save Allah. And those who are of sound instruction say: We believe therein; the whole is from our Lord; but only men of understanding really heed.” (3:7)

4:24 And seeking its interpretation.

4:26 This tribulation is among the most severe

4:28 Types of tribulations today,

4:30 Especially since the enemies of the faith and the Sunnah

4:33 Have harnessed for it a massive

4:35 Media apparatus,

4:37 Including audio, visual, and written media,

4:40 To lead people astray,

4:42 And to confuse them regarding their religion.

4:45 There is no protector today against the decree of Allah

4:47 Except for those upon whom He has mercy,

4:49 And who hold fast to the Book of Allah, the Almighty,

4:52 And the Sunnah of His Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him,

4:55 And the understanding of the Companions, may Allah be pleased with them.

4:59 The tribulation of desires (shahawat).

5:01 This relates to the destruction of morality,

5:05 The prevalence of sins,

5:07 And the suspension of enjoining good

5:09 And forbidding evil.

5:11 It has appeared in our contemporary reality today

5:14 In its most severe form.

5:16 The devils among mankind and jinn have mobilized

5:19 All their power and media tools

5:22 To destroy the morality of the people,

5:24 And to drown them in desires and debauchery,

5:27 Using women

5:29 As a tool to seduce through desires,

5:32 By way of their display of adornment (tabarruj),

5:34 And their mixing with men and being in seclusion with them,

5:37 Which results in corruption of the five necessities:

5:41 Religion, intellect,

5:43 Life, lineage, and wealth.

5:45 Especially when these sins are not denounced,

5:48 And are met with silence.

5:51 The tribulation of alienation (ghurbah).

5:54 This occurs when a Muslim finds himself

5:58 And a few of his brothers in a society

6:00 That has turned away from the law of Allah, the Almighty,

6:03 Where sins have become rampant,

6:05 And deviant concepts have spread

6:08 In creed and conduct.

6:10 Thus, the one who holds fast to his religion feels alienated,

6:13 And fears for himself deviation

6:15 And a lack of steadfastness in the religion,

6:17 Because the one who holds fast to his religion in times of tribulation

6:20 Is like one holding onto burning coals,

6:23 As stated in the authentic hadith.

6:26 The "strangers" (ghuraba') have been praised and commended

6:29 In the saying of the Prophet, peace be upon him:

6:32 "Glad tidings to the strangers."

6:34 It was asked, "Who are the strangers, O Messenger of Allah?"

6:38 He said:

6:40 "A few righteous people

6:42 Among many evil people;

6:44 Those who disobey them are more numerous than those who obey them."

6:48 And in another hadith:

6:50 "Those who rectify what the people have corrupted."

6:54 The tribulation of family and children.

6:58 Allah, the Almighty, said:

7:01 "O you who have believed,

7:03 “O ye who believe! Lo! among your wives and your children there are enemies for you, therefor beware of them. And if ye efface and overlook and forgive, then lo! Allah is Forgiving, Merciful.” (64:14)

7:06 [They] are enemies to you, so beware of them."

7:09 The reason this is considered a tribulation

7:11 Is because of the pressure that children and spouses

7:14 Exert upon their guardian,

7:17 Pushing him to fall into sins,

7:20 Or to abandon Jihad in the cause of Allah because of them,

7:23 Or causing him to earn unlawful wealth,

7:26 And to spend it on unlawful things for their sake.

7:29 The tribulation of the world and its adornments.

7:33 Under this tribulation are many forms:

7:38 Including the tribulation of status,

7:40 And the love of fame and leadership.

7:42 The tribulation of women,

7:44 And the tribulation of wealth and what relates to it,

7:47 Such as consuming usury (riba) and engaging in forbidden sales and contracts.

7:51 The tribulation of knowledge and scholars,

7:54 And what relates to it, such as speaking about Allah without knowledge,

7:58 Seeking the world through knowledge,

8:01 Not acting upon one's knowledge,

8:03 Envy among scholars,

8:05 And a scholar's love for prominence and fame.

8:08 The tribulation of disagreement and division,

8:12 And fighting among Muslims.

8:14 This is a blind tribulation;

8:17 We have seen its corruptions in early Islamic history,

8:21 And in modern times,

8:23 And how it leads its people to failure,

8:26 And the victory of the enemies over them,

8:28 And the great corruption that results from that

8:32 Regarding the religion and its people.

8:34 The tribulation of the rulers.

8:37 Many of the scholars of the salaf feared this tribulation,

8:42 And warned against it.

8:45 It is most severe for scholars and callers to Islam,

8:49 And its consequence is the corruption of the religion,

8:51 And the concealing of the truth or cloaking it with falsehood,

8:54 For the sake of a fleeting portion of the world.

8:58 The Prophet, peace be upon him, said:

9:01 "Whoever approaches the doors of the rulers will be put to trial."

9:05 Narrated by Abu Dawud, al-Tirmidhi, and Ahmad,

9:08 And authenticated by al-Albani.

9:12 The tribulation of calamities and hardships.

9:15 This is what befalls a Muslim in what he dislikes regarding his own self, his family,

9:22 His wealth, or his loved ones.

9:24 Allah, the Almighty, makes His allies steadfast through patience and certainty,

9:29 And contentment with Him, the Glorified,

9:31 And having good expectations of Him,

9:33 And the certainty that what Allah, the Almighty, chooses for His servant

9:37 Is better than what he chooses for himself, even if he dislikes it.

9:41 In this tribulation is a test of the believer's faith and his seeking of reward.

9:46 People are equal during times of ease,

9:49 But they differ during times of hardship.

9:54 The tribulation of turning things upside down and calling things by other than their names.

10:00 This is a blind tribulation,

10:03 In which the people of falsehood present truth in the image of falsehood,

10:06 And falsehood in the image of truth,

10:09 Beautifying the ugly and making the beautiful appear ugly,

10:12 Using cunning methods to embellish their speech,

10:16 They manipulate terminology.

10:19 This tribulation is a fulfillment of the words of the Prophet, peace be upon him:

10:24 "Years of deception will come upon the people,"

10:28 "In which the liar will be believed,"

10:30 "The truthful one will be belied,"

10:32 "The treacherous one will be trusted,"

10:34 "And the trustworthy one will be deemed treacherous."

10:37 "And the Ruwaybidah will speak."

10:40 It was asked, "O Messenger of Allah,"

10:42 "Who are the Ruwaybidah?"

10:44 He replied:

10:45 "The insignificant man who speaks on public affairs."

10:49 Narrated by al-Hakim, Ibn Majah, and Ahmad.

10:52 And authenticated by al-Albani.

10:55 Among the contemporary manifestations of distorting matters,

10:58 And calling things by names other than their own, are the following:

11:02 Calling alcohol "spiritual drink."

11:05 Calling usury "interest."

11:08 Calling frivolous competitions "championships."

11:11 Calling the disbeliever "the other."

11:14 Calling the alteration of Allah’s creation "beautification."

11:18 Calling bribery "a gift."

11:21 Calling incoming Muslims "foreigners."

11:25 Calling institutions of corruption "tourist entertainment."

11:29 Calling the rulings of the Sharia "customs and traditions."

11:34 Calling the Ruwaybidah "Excellencies," "Your Highnesses," and "Your Eminences."

11:39 Calling illegal levies and financial injustices "taxes and customs duties."

11:44 Calling the mujahidin who resist the occupiers "terrorists."

11:50 Calling famous, morally bankrupt individuals "stars."

11:55 Calling the alteration of the foundations of the religion "renewing religious discourse."

12:01 Calling the enmity and hatred toward the disbelievers "exclusionism and hate speech."

12:07 Calling hypocrisy and sycophancy "wisdom," "pragmatism," and "love of peace."

12:14 Calling the decisions of the Security Council and the International Court "international legitimacy."

12:21 Calling proselytization "missionary work," the Christians "Nazarenes," and the Jews "Israelis."

12:29 The corruptors calling themselves "reformers," and calling the reformers "corruptors."

12:36 Calling the enjoining of good and forbidding of evil "interference in the affairs of others" and "sedition."

12:43 Justifying the abandonment of Sharia rulings and the established tenets of the religion as "facilitation" and "necessity."

12:50 Validating the religion of the Jews and Christians under a new name they call "Abrahamism."

12:58 Calling the truthful callers to the faith who uphold the doctrine of loyalty and disavowal for the sake of Allah,

13:04 "Extremists" and "radicals."

13:06 Restricting the definition of harassment and adultery with women to cases where there is no consent and it is rape.

13:13 Whereas if it is with consent, they claim it is neither harassment nor adultery.

13:19 The tribulation of the Antichrist (al-Masih al-Dajjal).

13:24 He is one of the major signs of the Hour.

13:28 The Messenger, peace be upon him, warned us against him and his tribulation.

13:33 He commanded us to seek refuge from his evil after every prayer.

13:37 This is because his tribulation is among the most severe of tribulations.

13:41 For most people will be deceived by him when they see him bring the dead to life by the permission of Allah.

13:46 The ruins will yield their treasures.

13:49 He will command the sky to rain, and it will rain by the permission of Allah.

13:53 And other such supernatural feats.

13:56 So those who are seduced by him will believe in him.

13:59 The tribulation of death.

14:02 The command has also come to seek refuge from the tribulation of life and death after every prayer.

14:09 The tribulation of life is what was mentioned earlier regarding the trials of the world and its fleeting pleasures.

14:15 The tribulation of wealth, children, and calamities.

14:19 And other things that a Muslim encounters in his life.

14:24 As for the tribulation of death,

14:26 It is what the servant encounters at the time of his passing, as the devil attempts to lead him astray before his soul departs.

14:34 And what the servant encounters in his grave regarding the trial of the grave.

14:38 And the questioning by the two angels regarding his Lord, his religion, and his Prophet.

14:43 Allah keeps firm those who believe with the firm word.
