Trials, in terms of those affected by them, are of three categories.

Among the most significant and dangerous of them

is the trial of division, disagreement, and infighting.

Among them are the trials of doubts and desires,

and the obscuring of truth with falsehood,

which have reached their peak and zenith in our contemporary reality

following the emergence of the internet and smartphones.

Among them are the trials of wealth through the consumption of usury and prohibited sales and contracts.

Among them is the trial of women, their immodest display, and their intermingling with men.

trials that affect specific groups of people.

These are trials that fall between individual trials and general trials,

as they are not limited to a single individual,

nor do they encompass all people;

rather, they involve specific groups of people.

The most prominent of these groups are three.

The first: the group of the Khawarij,

who have fallen into the trial of declaring Muslims disbelievers and deeming their blood permissible,

claiming that they are fulfilling the duty of enjoining good and forbidding evil.

the group of the Murji'ah and the immoral,

who have neglected the duty of enjoining good, forbidding evil, and opposing corruption,

out of fear of trial, as they claim.

Among them today

are those who criticize the callers to Islam and the godly scholars for speaking the truth openly,

and for their forbidding of evil and enjoining of good,

accusing them of rebelling against the rulers,

causing trials, and destabilizing security.

They do not realize that the true trial is abandoning the enjoining of good and forbidding of evil according to its legal parameters.

the group that seeks safety in their call to Islam.

This is a group that seeks safety in their call and in striving in the way of Allah,

and does not want to be afflicted by any harm or distress in this path,

claiming that they are avoiding falling into trial.

They do not realize that being tested in the way of Allah the Exalted

is a fixed Sunnah among the ways of Allah, the Almighty and Majestic.

And that abandoning the call to Islam and striving in His way under the pretext of avoiding being tested

is itself the very trial they sought to flee from,

and thus they have fallen into it.

Allah the Exalted said concerning such people:

"And among them is he who says..."

And He, Glory be to Him, warned against those with this characteristic by saying:

"And if he is touched by good, he is reassured by it;

but if he is struck by trial, he turns on his face [to the other direction].
