A summary of the concepts held by the Ahl al-Sunnah.
0:09
Constantly seeking the aid of Allah and His divine guidance.
0:14
Relying upon one’s own self is a cause of failure and abandonment.
0:18
Whereas seeking the aid of Allah and turning to Him,
0:21
And disavowing one’s own power and strength,
0:24
Is the cause of success and right guidance.
0:27
For when the Children of Israel relied upon themselves and said,
0:32
“Bethink thee of the leaders of the Children of Israel after Moses, how they said unto a prophet whom they had: Set up for us a king and we will fight in Allah's way. He said: Would ye then refrain from fighting if fighting were prescribed for you? They said: Why should we not fight in Allah's way when we have been driven from our dwellings with our children? Yet, when fighting was prescribed for them, they turned away, all save a few of them. Allah is aware of evil-doers.” (2:246)
0:35
"We have been driven out of our homes and away from our children,"
0:39
This state of theirs resulted in failure and turning back.
0:43
Yet when fighting was ordained for them,
0:46
“Bethink thee of the leaders of the Children of Israel after Moses, how they said unto a prophet whom they had: Set up for us a king and we will fight in Allah's way. He said: Would ye then refrain from fighting if fighting were prescribed for you? They said: Why should we not fight in Allah's way when we have been driven from our dwellings with our children? Yet, when fighting was prescribed for them, they turned away, all save a few of them. Allah is aware of evil-doers.” (2:246)
0:49
And they turned to Allah,
0:51
Saying, "Our Lord, pour patience upon us,
0:54
And make our feet firm, and give us victory
0:57
Over the disbelieving people,"
0:59
The result, when they encountered the enemy, was that
1:02
They defeated them by the permission of Allah.
