0:47 The Qur'an has named it with many names and described it with many attributes.

0:53 Among these are the First and Second: the Last Day and the Hereafter.

0:59 The term "the Last Day" has appeared twenty-six times.

1:03 And the term "the Hereafter" has appeared one hundred and ten times.

1:07 And they both mean the same thing.

1:09 The Last Day, because there is no day after it.

1:13 And the Hereafter, because there is nothing after it.

1:17 It is the final stage of transitions that a person undergoes,

1:22 From non-existence to the womb of his mother,

1:24 Then emerging into worldly life,

1:27 Then the life of the grave (Barzakh),

1:29 Then this Hereafter, in which one will dwell eternally, either in Paradise or in Hellfire.

1:36 And among these verses are:

1:38 The saying of Allah the Almighty:

1:40 “And of mankind are some who say: We believe in Allah and the Last Day, when they believe not.” (2:8)

1:48 And His saying the Almighty:

1:50 “And who believe in that which is revealed unto thee (Muhammad) and that which was revealed before thee, and are certain of the Hereafter.” (2:4)

1:59 The Third and Fourth:

2:02 The Day of Judgment and the Day of Reckoning.

2:04 And they both mean the same thing.

2:07 For "Deen" (religion/judgment) is recompense and reckoning.

2:10 The term "Yawm al-Deen" (Day of Judgment) has appeared thirteen times.

2:14 And the term "Yawm al-Hisab" (Day of Reckoning) has appeared four times.

2:18 This Day is so named

2:21 Because a person is held accountable on it for their deeds in this worldly life and is recompensed accordingly.

2:28 Allah the Almighty said:

2:32 And Allah the Almighty said:

2:34 “This it is that ye are promised for the Day of Reckoning.” (38:53)

2:39 The Day of Resurrection (Yawm al-Qiyamah).

2:41 It has been mentioned seventy times in the Noble Qur'an.

2:45 Including the saying of Allah the Almighty:

2:47 “Nay, I swear by the Day of Resurrection;” (75:1)

2:50 And the chapter was named by this name.

2:54 And the Day was named thus

2:55 Because people will stand before the Lord of the worlds on that Day for their reckoning.

3:08 The Hour (al-Sa'ah).

3:10 It has appeared thirty-five times in the Noble Qur'an.

3:14 Including the saying of Allah the Almighty:

3:17 “And unto Allah belongeth the Unseen of the heavens and the earth, and the matter of the Hour (of Doom) is but as a twinkling of the eye, or it is nearer still. Lo! Allah is Able to do all things.” (16:77)

3:22 Indeed, Allah is over all things competent.

3:26 And "al-Sa'ah" refers to the present time.

3:29 It is so named because its coming is imminent.

3:32 So it is as if it is present.

3:34 And its arrival is sudden.

3:36 As Allah the Almighty said:

3:38 They ask you about the Hour: "When will be its appointed time?"

3:43 “They ask thee of the (destined) Hour, when will it come to port. Say: Knowledge thereof is with my Lord only. He alone will manifest it at its proper time. It is heavy in the heavens and the earth. It cometh not to you save unawares. They question thee as if thou couldst be well informed thereof. Say: Knowledge thereof is with Allah only, but most of mankind know not.” (7:187)

4:08 For "Azzifah" means it has drawn near and is close.

4:11 It has also been mentioned with the addition of the word "Yawm" (Day).

4:15 Allah the Almighty said:

4:17 “Warn them (O Muhammad) of the Day of the approaching (doom), when the hearts will be choking the throats, (when) there will be no friend for the wrong-doers, nor any intercessor who will be heard.” (40:18)

4:24 The Eighth:

4:25 The Inevitable Event (al-Waqi'ah).

4:27 Allah the Almighty said:

4:29 When the Inevitable Event occurs.

4:32 And Allah the Almighty said:

4:34 Then on that Day, the Inevitable Event will occur.

4:37 It is so named because its occurrence is certain.

4:41 The Ninth:

4:43 The Reality (al-Haqqah).

4:45 Allah the Almighty said:

4:47 The Reality!

4:49 What is the Reality?

4:52 “Ah, what will convey unto thee what the reality is!” (69:3)

4:56 It is so named because what the deniers of it disbelieved in will be realized on that Day.

5:02 The Tenth:

5:04 The Overwhelming Calamity (al-Tammah al-Kubra).

5:06 Allah the Almighty said:

5:09 “But when the great disaster cometh,” (79:34)

5:14 It is said:

5:15 "Tamma al-amr" means the matter became overwhelming and dominant.

5:19 Thus, the Resurrection is so named

5:21 Because it overwhelms every dreadful event.

5:25 The Eleventh:

5:27 The Stunning Cry (al-Sakhkhah).

5:29 Allah the Almighty said:

5:31 Then when the Stunning Cry comes.

5:35 Meaning the cry of the Resurrection.

5:38 It is so named because it stuns the ears,

5:42 To the extent of making them almost deaf with its intensity.

5:47 The Twelfth:

5:48 The Enveloper (al-Ghashiyah).

5:50 Allah the Almighty said:

5:53 “Hath there come unto thee tidings of the Overwhelming?” (88:1)

5:56 It is so named because it will cover people with its terror and overwhelm them.

6:02 And among its implications is:

6:03 The Fire enveloping the disbelievers, surrounding them from above and from beneath their feet.

6:10 Allah the Almighty said:

6:12 “On the day when the doom will overwhelm them from above them and from underneath their feet, and He will say: Taste what ye used to do!” (29:55)

6:17 “On the day when the doom will overwhelm them from above them and from underneath their feet, and He will say: Taste what ye used to do!” (29:55)

6:21 And Allah the Almighty said:

6:23 “Theirs will be a bed of hell, and over them coverings (of hell). Thus do We requite wrong-doers.” (7:41)

6:29 The Thirteenth:

6:31 The Striking Calamity (al-Qari'ah).

6:32 Allah the Almighty said:

6:34 The Striking Calamity!

6:35 What is the Striking Calamity?

6:37 “Ah, what will convey unto thee what the Calamity is!” (101:3)

6:40 And Allah the Almighty said:

6:42 Thamud and 'Ad denied the Striking Calamity.

6:46 It is so named because it strikes the hearts with its horrors.

6:51 It is said:

6:52 "Qaware' al-dahr" have afflicted them.

6:55 Meaning its horrors and hardships.

6:57 And all the following names are preceded by the word "Yawm" (Day).

7:03 The Fourteenth:

7:04 The Day of Regret (Yawm al-Hasrah).

7:06 Allah the Almighty said:

7:08 “And warn them of the Day of anguish when the case hath been decided. Now they are in a state of carelessness, and they believe not.” (19:39)

7:16 It is so named due to the intense regret of the servants on that Day.

7:20 Whether it be the regret of the disbelievers for what they missed of faith in it,

7:25 As in the previous verse,

7:27 And as in His saying the Almighty:

7:29 Lest a soul should say, "Oh, my regret for what I neglected in regard to Allah, although I was among the mockers."

7:39 And other verses.

7:41 Or even the regret of the believers for not having increased their good deeds and piety.

7:48 The Fifteenth:

7:50 The Day of Resurrection (Yawm al-Ba'th).

7:52 Allah the Almighty said:

7:54 “But those to whom knowledge and faith are given will say: The truth is, ye have tarried, by Allah's decree, until the Day of Resurrection. This is the Day of Resurrection, but ye used not to know.” (30:56)

8:01 “But those to whom knowledge and faith are given will say: The truth is, ye have tarried, by Allah's decree, until the Day of Resurrection. This is the Day of Resurrection, but ye used not to know.” (30:56)

8:07 And "al-Ba'th" refers to Allah's reviving of the dead and their spreading forth for reckoning.

8:13 The Sixteenth:

8:15 The Day of Decision (Yawm al-Fasl).

8:17 Allah the Almighty said:

8:19 “Lo! the Day of Decision is a fixed time,” (78:17)

8:23 And Allah the Almighty said:

8:25 “This is the Day of Separation, which ye used to deny.” (37:21)

8:31 It is so named because Allah the Almighty will decide between His servants on that Day.

8:37 Allah the Almighty said:

8:39 “Lo! thy Lord will judge between them on the Day of Resurrection concerning that wherein they used to differ.” (32:25)

8:47 The Seventeenth:

8:48 The Day of Meeting (Yawm al-Talaq).

8:50 Allah the Almighty said:

8:53 “The Exalter of Ranks, the Lord of the Throne. He causeth the Spirit of His command upon whom He will of His slaves, that He may warn of the Day of Meeting,” (40:15)

9:00 Meaning the Day when all servants will meet.

9:04 So the oppressor and the oppressed will meet.

9:07 And the people of earth and the people of heaven will meet.

9:09 Rather, the weak creation will meet the Mighty Creator.

9:14 And every doer will meet with their deeds, whether good or evil.

9:20 The Eighteenth:

9:22 The Day of Gathering (Yawm al-Jam').

9:24 Allah the Almighty said:

9:26 “And thus We have inspired in thee a Lecture in Arabic, that thou mayst warn the mother-town and those around it, and mayst warn of a day of assembling whereof there is no doubt. A host will be in the Garden, and a host of them in the Flame.” (42:7)

9:34 “And thus We have inspired in thee a Lecture in Arabic, that thou mayst warn the mother-town and those around it, and mayst warn of a day of assembling whereof there is no doubt. A host will be in the Garden, and a host of them in the Flame.” (42:7)

And whoso believeth in Allah and doeth right, He will remit from him his evil deeds and will bring him unto Gardens underneath which rivers flow, therein to abide for ever. That is the supreme triumph.” (64:9)

9:47 That is the Day of Mutual Loss.

9:50 So it is a Day when all people will be gathered.

9:54 As Allah the Almighty said:

9:56 “Lo! herein verily there is a portent for those who fear the doom of the Hereafter. That is a day unto which mankind will be gathered, and that is a day that will be witnessed.” (11:103)

10:08 The Nineteenth:

10:10 The Day of Calling Out (Yawm al-Tunad).

10:12 Allah the Almighty said:

10:14 “And, O my people! Lo! I fear for you a Day of Summoning,” (40:32)

10:19 It is so named due to the abundance of calls that will occur on that Day.

10:23 For each person will be called by their name for reckoning.

10:28 And the people of Paradise will call out to the people of Hellfire.

10:32 And the people of Hellfire will call out to the people of Paradise.

10:36 And the people of the Elevated Places will call out to each of them.

10:40 The Twentieth:

10:42 The Day of Promise (Yawm al-Wa'eed).

10:44 Allah the Almighty said:

10:46 And the Horn will be blown.

10:48 That is the Day of Promise.

10:51 For it is the Day that Allah has promised the disbelievers and hypocrites.

10:55 With the torment therein and eternal dwelling in Hellfire.

10:59 And He has promised every wrongdoer and disobedient person reckoning for their injustice and disobedience.

11:04 And the reality of the promise

11:06 Is the notification of punishment for disobedience.

11:10 The Twenty-First:

11:13 The Day of Eternity (Yawm al-Khulood).

11:15 Allah the Almighty said:

11:17 Enter it in peace.

11:19 That is the Day of Eternity.

11:22 For people will dwell therein eternally without death.

11:25 And in the hadith:

11:27 Death will be brought in the form of a mottled ram.

11:30 And it will be slaughtered.

11:32 Then it will be said:

11:33 "O people of Paradise, eternity, so no death!"

11:37 "O people of Hellfire, eternity, so no death!"

11:41 Agreed upon.

11:44 The Twenty-Second:

11:45 The Day of Coming Forth (Yawm al-Khurooj).

11:47 Allah the Almighty said:

11:50 “The day when they will hear the (Awful) Cry in truth. That is the day of coming forth (from the graves).” (50:42)

11:53 That is the Day of Coming Forth.

11:56 For it is the Day when people will come forth from their graves after hearing the cry.

12:01 Which is the second blowing of the Horn.

12:04 They will come forth for reckoning and recompense.

12:07 As Allah the Almighty said:

12:10 “The day when they come forth from the graves in haste, as racing to a goal,” (70:43)

12:13 “The day when they come forth from the graves in haste, as racing to a goal,” (70:43)

12:18 The Twenty-Third:

12:20 The Day of Mutual Loss (Yawm al-Taghabun).

12:22 Allah the Almighty said:

12:24 “The day when He shall gather you unto the Day of Assembling, that will be a day of mutual disillusion. And whoso believeth in Allah and doeth right, He will remit from him his evil deeds and will bring him unto Gardens underneath which rivers flow, therein to abide for ever. That is the supreme triumph.” (64:9)

12:27 That is the Day of Mutual Loss.

12:30 For it is a Day of the gainer and the loser.

12:34 Meaning the winner and the loser.

12:36 The believers will gain by being saved from the Fire and entering Paradise.

12:41 And the disbelievers will lose by entering the Fire.
