and one feels that they have no control over the matter; it is only the call of Allah, and they are a hired worker for Allah.

and to work towards fulfilling His will, may He be glorified,

in vicegerency of the Earth and its cultivation, and in repelling corruption and strife from it,

and in elevating and developing life,

while realizing the reality of its transience and the permanence of the Hereafter.

Thus, it makes one's actions in this world a desire for the Hereafter.

Sixthly, faith in Allah liberates from servitude to desires,

and from servitude to created beings.

And there is no doubt that a human being liberated by servitude to Allah

is more capable of righteous and sound vicegerency on Earth.

Seventhly, faith is the foundation of virtues and the restraint of vices,

the pillar of consciences and the support of resolve in hardships,

and the balm of patience during calamities,

and the pillar of contentment and satisfaction with one's lot,

It is the solace and tranquility of souls when life alienates them,

Eighthly, by losing faith, we are more unfortunate in life

and lower in rank on the ladder of creation

than the most humiliated animals, the most insignificant insects, and the fiercest predators.

For animals go hungry as we do,

but they are safe from the worry of sustenance, the fear of poverty, and the humiliation of begging.

They give birth as we do, and they lose their young as we do,

but they are at ease from the panic of the bereaved mother and the fear of the orphan.

They suffer in their bodies as we do,

but they are at ease from what consumes hearts, severs ties of kinship, and scatters gatherings,

“Or deemest thou that most of them hear or understand? They are but as the cattle - nay, but they are farther astray?” (25:44)
