0:00 Riyadh al-Salihin from the words of the Master of the Messengers, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him.

0:09 Chapter: The Virtue of Wudu (Ablution).

0:16 Allah the Exalted says:

0:18 “O ye who believe! When ye rise up for prayer, wash you faces, and your hands up to the elbows, and lightly rub your heads and (wash) your feet up to the ankles. And if ye are unclean, purify yourselves. And if ye are sick or on a journey, or one of you cometh from the closet, or ye have had contact with women, and ye find not water, then go to clean, high ground and rub your faces and your hands with some of it. Allah would not place a burden on you, but He would purify you and would perfect His grace upon you, that ye may give thanks.” (5:6)

0:24 Up to His saying:

0:41 On the authority of Abu Hurayrah, may Allah be pleased with him, who said:

0:44 I heard the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, say:

0:49 "My Ummah will be called on the Day of Resurrection with bright faces and bright limbs from the traces of Wudu."

0:56 "So whoever among you is able to extend his brightness, let him do so."

1:01 Agreed upon.

1:03 "Brightness" (ghurrah) means those possessing a bright mark.

1:08 The origin of ghurrah is a white blaze on the forehead of a horse.

1:13 "Bright limbs" (muhajjalin) comes from tahjil.

1:16 This is the whiteness found on three of a horse's legs.

1:21 From the benefits of the hadith:

1:25 The statement, "So whoever among you is able to extend his brightness, let him do so,"

1:30 Is an interpolation (mudraj) in the hadith, as noted by al-Hafiz Ibn Hajar.

1:35 It is from the words of Abu Hurayrah, may Allah be pleased with him.

1:39 The brightness and the bright limbs are among the characteristics specific to this Islamic Ummah.

1:45 Allah has honored it with this.

1:48 Allah, glory be to Him and Exalted is He, granted the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him,

1:57 As for children, they follow their parents.

2:01 It is prescribed to extend the washing of the limbs (tahjil).

2:04 This is done by extending it to the upper arms and the shins,

2:07 As a completion of the obligatory washing of the hands and feet.

2:11 Abu Hurayrah, may Allah be pleased with him, used to do this.

2:15 And he explicitly attributed it to the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him.

2:20 On the authority of Abu Hurayrah, may Allah be pleased with him, who said:

2:26 I heard my beloved friend, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, say:

2:30 "The adornment of the believer will reach where the Wudu reaches."

2:35 Narrated by Muslim.

2:38 From the benefits of the hadith:

2:41 The adornment of the people of Paradise reaches the extent of the believer's Wudu.

2:46 It is recommended to extend the washing of the limbs (tahjil).

2:49 On the authority of Uthman ibn Affan, may Allah be pleased with him, who said:

2:55 The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said:

2:59 "Whoever performs Wudu and perfects the Wudu,"

3:02 "His sins will exit from his body,"

3:05 "Even exiting from beneath his fingernails."

3:10 From the benefits of the hadith:

3:14 Clarification of the virtue of Wudu and that it is an expiation for sins.

3:19 Clarification of the condition for the exit of sins:

3:22 Which is perfecting the Wudu and performing it in the manner

3:26 That the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, explained to his Ummah.

3:31 Sins exist in the body, and it is their vessel.

3:36 A manifestation of the effects of Wudu on the body.

3:40 To the extent that sins exit from the body,

3:44 According to the quality of the Wudu.

3:46 Even exiting from beneath his fingernails.

3:49 On the authority of Uthman ibn Affan, may Allah be pleased with him, who said:

3:54 I saw the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him,

3:58 Perform Wudu like this Wudu of mine, then he said:

4:02 "Whoever performs Wudu like this,"

4:04 "His past sins will be forgiven,"

4:08 "And his prayer and his walking to the mosque will be an extra reward."

4:12 Narrated by Muslim.

4:15 "Extra reward" (nafilah) means an addition.

4:19 From the benefits of the hadith:

4:23 Wudu is among the expiations for sins.

4:26 Wudu does not expiate sins

4:30 Unless it conforms to the manner of the Wudu of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him.

4:36 The generosity of Allah and the vastness of His mercy,

4:39 In that He increases the Muslim from His bounty,

4:42 So his prayer and his going to the mosque become an extra reward,

4:46 In terms of reward and increase.

4:48 On the authority of Abu Hurayrah, may Allah be pleased with him,

4:52 That the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said:

4:56 "When the Muslim or believing servant performs Wudu,"

5:00 "And washes his face,"

5:02 "Every sin he looked at with his eyes exits from his face with the water,"

5:08 "Or with the last drop of water."

5:11 "Then when he washes his hands,"

5:14 "Every sin his hands committed exits from his hands with the water,"

5:20 "Or with the last drop of water."

5:23 "Then when he washes his feet,"

5:25 "Every sin his feet walked toward exits with the water,"

5:29 "Or with the last drop of water."

5:32 "Until he emerges purified of sins."

5:36 Narrated by Muslim.

5:39 From the benefits of the hadith:

5:42 Every limb of a human has sins it commits.

5:46 Therefore, the servant must protect his limbs from disobedience.

5:51 Wudu expiates the sins of these limbs over which the water flows.

5:57 On the authority of Abu Hurayrah, may Allah be pleased with him,

6:01 That the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, came to the graveyard and said:

6:07 "Peace be upon you, O abode of a believing people."

6:12 "And we, if Allah wills, will join you."

6:16 "I wish we had seen our brothers."

6:20 They said: "Are we not your brothers, O Messenger of Allah?"

6:25 He said: "You are my Companions."

6:28 "And our brothers are those who have not yet come."

6:32 They said: "How will you recognize those who have not yet come from your Ummah, O Messenger of Allah?"

6:38 He said:

6:40 "Do you see, if a man had horses with bright marks on their foreheads and legs among horses that were entirely black,"

6:48 "Would he not recognize his horses?"

6:50 They said: "Yes, O Messenger of Allah."

6:53 He said: "For they will come with bright faces and bright limbs from the Wudu."

6:59 "And I am their forerunner at the Basin (Hawd)."

7:02 Narrated by Muslim.

7:06 "Entirely black" (adham) means black.

7:09 "Purely" (al-bahm)

7:10 Meaning no other color mixes with their blackness.

7:15 From the benefits of the hadith:

7:19 The recommendation of visiting the graveyard, both in groups and individually.

7:23 Clarification of how to greet the dead.

7:28 The permissibility of wishing for something known to be impossible,

7:32 To show its value, importance, and to express love for it.

7:37 The permissibility of wishing to meet the righteous, the scholars, and the people of virtue, and striving for that.

7:45 Clarification that the status of Companionship is higher than the status of brotherhood.

7:49 Because it combines both.

7:52 Allah's honoring of this Ummah,

7:56 By granting it a mark that distinguishes it from other nations.

8:01 Which is that they are bright-faced and bright-limbed.

8:05 Affirmation of the Basin of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him.

8:09 And that it is a truth.

8:11 And that it is the watering place for his Ummah who followed him with excellence.

8:16 On the authority of Abu Hurayrah, may Allah be pleased with him,

8:21 That the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said:

8:25 "Shall I not guide you to that by which Allah wipes away sins,"

8:30 "And raises degrees?"

8:32 They said: "Yes, O Messenger of Allah."

8:35 He said:

8:37 "Performing Wudu thoroughly despite difficulties,"

8:40 "And many steps to the mosques,"

8:43 "And waiting for the prayer after the prayer."

8:46 "That is the ribat (the station of spiritual vigilance)."

8:51 Narrated by Muslim.

8:53 On the authority of Abu Malik al-Ash'ari, may Allah be pleased with him, who said:

8:58 The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said:

9:01 "Purity is half of faith."

9:04 Narrated by Muslim.

9:07 On the authority of Umar ibn al-Khattab, may Allah be pleased with him,

9:11 From the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, who said:

9:15 "There is no one among you who performs Wudu,"

9:18 "And performs the Wudu thoroughly,"

9:21 "Then says:"

9:23 "I bear witness that there is no god but Allah alone, having no partner,"

9:28 "And I bear witness that Muhammad is His servant and His Messenger,"

9:32 "Except that the eight gates of Paradise are opened for him,"

9:37 "He may enter through whichever of them he wishes."

9:40 Narrated by Muslim.

9:42 And al-Tirmidhi added:

9:44 "O Allah, make me among those who repent,"

9:47 "And make me among those who are purified."

9:50 From the benefits of the hadith:

9:54 The recommendation of performing Wudu thoroughly.

9:58 It is recommended that the Muslim recite this supplication after finishing Wudu.

10:04 Paradise has eight gates.
