0:33 The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him)—may my father and mother be ransomed for him—bequeathed his final exhortations to his Ummah before his passing.

1:03 "O people!

1:04 Indeed, nothing remains of the glad tidings of prophethood except a righteous dream

1:10 That a Muslim sees or that is shown to him.

1:13 Behold, I have been forbidden to recite the Qur'an while bowing or prostrating.

1:18 As for the bowing,

1:19 Extol the grandeur of your Lord, the Exalted and Majestic, therein.

1:22 And as for the prostration,

1:24 Strive diligently in supplication,

1:26 For it is most worthy to be answered for you."

1:30 Having Good Expectations of Allah.

1:33 Imam Muslim recorded in his Sahih,

1:36 On the authority of Jabir ibn 'Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with them both), who said:

1:40 I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) say, three days before his death:

1:47 "Let none of you die except while thinking well of Allah, the Exalted and Majestic."

1:54 Imam Al-Nawawi stated:

1:56 "The scholars said:

1:57 This is a warning against despair,

2:00 And an encouragement to maintain hope at the end of life.

2:03 And the meaning of having good expectations of Allah the Exalted

2:07 Is to expect that He will have mercy on him and forgive him."

2:11 The Exhortation Concerning Prayer.

2:14 Imam Ahmad recorded in his Musnad, as well as Ibn Majah with an authentic chain,

2:19 On the authority of Anas ibn Malik (may Allah be pleased with him), who said:

2:23 The general exhortation of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) when death approached him was:

2:29 "Prayer, and those whom your right hands possess!

2:33 Prayer, and those whom your right hands possess!"

2:37 Until the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) began to rattle it in his chest,

2:42 And his tongue could scarcely articulate it—

2:46 Meaning his speech was barely distinct.

2:54 On the authority of 'Ali ibn Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him), who said:

3:12 The Final Look.

3:16 On Sunday night, leading into Monday, the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) was critically ill,

3:22 Meaning his illness intensified until he was on the verge of death.

3:26 But when dawn broke,

3:28 He experienced a recovery and felt relief.

3:30 He then drew back the curtain of his room

3:32 And looked upon the people standing in rows behind Abu Bakr Al-Siddiq (may Allah be pleased with him).

3:38 He smiled and rejoiced at that.

3:41 The two Sheikhs [Al-Bukhari and Muslim] recorded in their Sahihs,

3:44 As well as Imam Ahmad in his Musnad,

3:46 And the wording is that of Ahmad,

3:48 On the authority of Anas ibn Malik (may Allah be pleased with him), who said:

3:52 When Monday came,

3:55 The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) drew back the curtain of the room

4:00 And saw Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him)

4:03 Leading the people in prayer.

4:05 Anas said:

4:06 I looked at his face, and it was as radiant as a page of the Mus-haf,

4:11 While he was smiling.

4:13 We were nearly tempted to lose our composure in our prayer

4:16 Out of sheer joy at seeing the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him).

4:21 Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) intended to step backward—

4:25 Meaning to retreat behind—

4:27 But the Prophet signaled to him

4:29 To remain where he was.

4:31 He then let down the curtain,

4:33 And he passed away on that very day.

4:39 Abu Bakr Al-Siddiq (may Allah be pleased with him) Asking for Leave.

4:44 The people rejoiced when they saw that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) had regained his strength that morning.

4:51 Imam Al-Bukhari recorded in his Sahih,

4:54 On the authority of 'Ali ibn Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him),

4:58 That he came out from the presence of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him)

5:02 During the illness in which he passed away.

5:05 The people asked:

5:07 "O Abu Al-Hasan!

5:08 How is the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) this morning?"

5:13 He replied:

5:14 "By the praise of Allah, he has awakened recovered."

5:18 Abu Bakr Al-Siddiq (may Allah be pleased with him) then asked for permission

5:21 To go to his family in Al-Sunh,

5:24 And permission was granted to him.

5:26 That was after the Fajr prayer on Monday,

5:29 The day on which the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) passed away.

5:35 Ibn Ishaq said:

5:36 Abu Bakr Al-Siddiq (may Allah be pleased with him) said:

5:40 "O Prophet of Allah!

5:42 I see that you have awakened with the blessing of Allah just as we would love.

5:47 Today is the turn of the daughter of Kharijah;

5:50 Shall I go to her?"

5:52 And the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) permitted him.

5:56 Then the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) entered his chamber,

6:00 And Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) went to his family in Al-Sunh.

6:09 The Illness Intensifies for the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him).

6:16 The illness intensified upon the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him)

6:20 Most severely when he returned to his room,

6:24 And he rested in the lap of 'A'ishah (may Allah be pleased with her).

6:28 Overwhelming distress began to engulf him, so much that Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her) was deeply pained.

6:36 Imam Al-Bukhari recorded in his Sahih,

6:39 On the authority of Anas ibn Malik (may Allah be pleased with him), who said:

6:43 When the condition of the Prophet (peace be upon him) grew heavy,

6:47 Agony began to engulf him,

6:49 Whereupon Fatimah (peace be upon her) said:

6:53 "O, the distress of my father!"

6:56 So the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said to her:

7:00 "There is no distress upon your father after this day."

7:04 Imam Ahmad and Ibn Majah added with a good chain:

7:08 The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said:

7:12 "Indeed, there has come upon your father that which will spare no one;

7:18 The final meeting shall be on the Day of Resurrection."

7:21 And while the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him)

7:25 Was in the midst of the agonies of death,

7:28 With 'A'ishah (may Allah be pleased with her) supporting him against her chest,

7:32 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Abi Bakr Al-Siddiq (may Allah be pleased with them both) entered

7:37 Holding a fresh siwak with which he was brushing his teeth—

7:41 Meaning he was using it as a toothstick.

7:43 It appeared that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him)

7:46 Desired the siwak.

7:48 Imam Al-Bukhari recorded in his Sahih,

7:51 On the authority of 'A'ishah (may Allah be pleased with her), who said:

7:55 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Abi Bakr (may Allah be pleased with them both) entered

7:59 Upon the Prophet (peace be upon him)

8:02 While I was supporting him against my chest.

8:05 'Abd al-Rahman had a fresh siwak with which he was cleaning his teeth.

8:09 The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) fixed his gaze upon it—

8:14 Meaning he looked directly at it.

8:17 So I took the siwak, softened it with my teeth, shaken it clean, and made it pleasant,

8:22 Then gave it to the Prophet (peace be upon him),

8:27 And he cleaned his teeth with it.

8:29 I had never seen the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him)

8:33 Clean his teeth more thoroughly or beautifully than that.

8:37 An Abridgment of the Prophetic biography (Seerah).

8:42 If the longing of people for one another endures,

8:49 Then longing for you surpasses all boundless reach.

8:55 May Allah shower blessings upon you whenever the call to prayer is raised,

9:01 And whenever lips move in enduring remembrance.
