0:13 An Abridged Prophetic Biography (Seerah),

0:17 Authored by Sheikh Musa ibn Rashid Al-Azimi,

0:23 May Allah preserve him.

0:25 The Defeat of the Confederates (Al-Ahzab).

0:33 Then Allah, Glorified and Exalted be He, granted victory to His Messenger, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, and to His believing servants,

0:40 Through supplication, the wind, and the angels.

0:43 For He, Exalted is He, said:

0:45 "O you who have believed, remember the favor of Allah upon you when armies came to [attack] you and We sent upon them a wind and armies [of angels] you did not see. And ever is Allah, of what you do, Seeing."

1:08 Al-Hafiz Ibn Kathir said:

1:10 "Then Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, sent against the confederates a violent, gale-force wind,

1:16 To the extent that not a single tent or possession remained standing for them,

1:19 Nor could any fire be lit for them,

1:21 Nor could they find any foothold or stability,

1:24 Until they departed, frustrated and utterly ruined."

1:27 And as for His saying, Exalted is He:

1:29 "And armies you did not see,"

1:31 They were the angels,

1:33 Who shook them violently and struck terror and fear into their hearts.

1:37 Every tribal chieftain began calling out:

1:40 "O sons of so-and-so!

1:42 To me!"

1:43 And as they rallied around him,

1:45 He would cry out:

1:46 "Flee! Flee!"

1:48 Because of the terror Allah, Exalted is He, had cast into their hearts.

1:52 Imam Ahmad narrated in his Musnad with a good chain of transmission

1:56 On the authority of 'A'ishah, may Allah be pleased with her, that she said:

1:59 "And Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, sent

2:01 The wind against the polytheists,

2:03 And Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, spared

2:05 The believers the battle."

2:07 “And Allah repulsed the disbelievers in their wrath; they gained no good. Allah averted their attack from the believers. Allah is ever Strong, Mighty.” (33:25)

2:10 And the two Sheikhs narrated in their Sahihs

2:13 On the authority of Ibn 'Abbas, may Allah be pleased with them both, that he said:

2:17 The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said:

2:21 "I was aided by the east wind (as-saba),

2:23 While 'Ad was destroyed by the west wind (ad-dabur)."

2:26 Al-Hafiz said in al-Fath:

2:28 "Through this, the author's intent becomes clear

2:31 In citing this hadith here:

2:33 Namely, that Allah granted victory to His Prophet, peace be upon him,

2:37 In the Battle of the Trench by means of the wind."

2:39 Allah, Exalted is He, said:

2:41 “O ye who believe! Remember Allah's favour unto you when there came against you hosts, and We sent against them a great wind and hosts ye could not see. And Allah is ever Seer of what ye do.” (33:9)

2:46 And the two Sheikhs narrated in their Sahihs

2:49 On the authority of 'Abdullah ibn Abi Awfa, may Allah be pleased with them both, that he said:

2:53 The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, supplicated

2:56 On the Day of the Confederates against the polytheists, saying:

2:59 "O Allah, Revealer of the Book,

3:02 Swift in taking account,

3:04 Defeat the confederates!

3:06 O Allah, defeat them and shake them!"

3:09 And Imam Ahmad narrated in his Musnad with a weak chain of transmission,

3:14 Yet it possesses corroborating reports that strengthen it,

3:17 On the authority of Abu Sa'id al-Khudri, may Allah be pleased with him, that he said:

3:21 We said on the Day of the Trench:

3:23 "O Messenger of Allah,

3:25 Is there anything we should say?

3:27 For hearts have reached the throats."

3:30 So the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, replied:

3:34 "Yes:

3:35 'O Allah, conceal our faults and quell our fears.'"

3:39 He said:

3:41 "Then Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, struck the faces of His enemies with the wind,

3:45 And Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, routed them by the wind."

3:51 The Dispatch of Hudhayfah ibn al-Yaman, may Allah be pleased with them both, to the Confederates.

3:57 Then the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, dispatched

4:01 Hudhayfah ibn al-Yaman, may Allah be pleased with them both,

4:05 To bring him intelligence of the confederates

4:07 After the violent wind had battered them.

4:10 For Imam Muslim narrated in his Sahih

4:13 On the authority of Hudhayfah ibn al-Yaman, may Allah be pleased with them both, who said:

4:17 "I remember being with the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him,

4:21 On the night of the Confederates, when we were struck by a severe wind and biting cold; so the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, said:

4:30 'Is there no man who will bring me news of the enemy, and whom Allah will make to be with me on the Day of Resurrection?'

4:36 But we remained silent, and none of us answered him. Then he said: 'Is there no man who will bring us news of the enemy,

4:45 Whom Allah will make to be with me on the Day of Resurrection?' Yet we remained silent, and none of us answered him. Then he said:

4:53 'Is there no man who will bring us news of the enemy, whom Allah will make to be with me on the Day of Resurrection?'

4:59 But we remained silent, and none of us answered him. So he said: 'Stand up, O Hudhayfah, and bring us news of the enemy.'

5:08 Finding myself called by name, I had no choice but to stand.

5:12 He said: 'Go and bring me news of the enemy,

5:16 And do not alarm them against me.'

5:18 So when I departed from his presence,

5:21 It felt as though I were walking in a warm bath,

5:24 Until I reached them.

5:26 There I saw Abu Sufyan warming his back by the fire,

5:30 So I notched an arrow into the belly of the bow,

5:33 Intending to shoot him,

5:35 But then I recalled the words of the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him:

5:39 'And do not alarm them against me.'

5:41 Had I shot him, I would surely have hit him.

5:44 Then I returned, still walking as if in a warm bath.

5:48 When I reached him, reported the news of the enemy, and finished,

5:52 I began to shiver,

5:53 Meaning the piercing cold overtook me.

5:55 So the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, covered me

6:00 With the excess of a cloak he was wearing and praying in.

6:04 I remained asleep until morning arrived,

6:07 And when morning came, he said:

6:09 'Rise, O deep sleeper!'"

6:14 The Return of the Prophet, peace be upon him,

6:18 And His Companions to Their Homes.

6:22 The Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him,

6:25 And his noble Companions returned to their homes,

6:28 After the confederates had retreated to their own lands.

6:32 And Allah, Exalted is He, spoke the truth when He says:

6:35 “And Allah repulsed the disbelievers in their wrath; they gained no good. Allah averted their attack from the believers. Allah is ever Strong, Mighty.” (33:25)

6:40 "And Allah spared the believers the battle."

6:48 Al-Hafiz Ibn Kathir said:

6:50 "Had Allah not made His Messenger, peace be upon him,

6:54 A mercy to the worlds,

6:56 This wind would have been more devastating to them than the barren wind sent against 'Ad.

7:02 But Allah, Exalted is He, said:"

7:05 “But Allah would not punish them while thou wast with them, nor will He punish them while they seek forgiveness.” (8:33)

7:09 "Thus He unleashed against them an air (wind) that scattered their unity,

7:13 Just as the sole cause of their gathering had been base desires (hawa).

7:16 They were a motley mix from diverse tribes,

7:19 Factions and disparate groups;

7:21 Hence it was fitting that He send against them the wind that tore their coalition apart

7:26 And turned them back frustrated and ruined in their wrath and fury,

7:31 Having attained no good whatsoever:

7:33 Neither in this world, in terms of the victory and spoils they had craved,

7:37 Nor in the Hereafter,

7:39 Because of the heavy sins they incurred by openly confronting the Messenger, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, with hostility,

7:46 Plotting to kill him and annihilate his army.

7:50 And whoever resolves upon a deed and confirms that intent with action,

7:54 Is in reality treated as one who perpetrated it."

7:57 And Imam al-Bukhari narrated in his Sahih

8:00 On the authority of Sulayman ibn Surad, may Allah be pleased with him, that he said:

8:04 I heard the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, say when the confederates were repelled from him:

8:10 "Now we shall raid them, and they will not raid us; we shall march out to them."

8:15 Al-Hafiz said in al-Fath:

8:17 "In this hadith lies a prominent sign among the signs of prophethood;

8:21 For the Prophet, peace be upon him, set out for 'Umrah the following year,

8:26 Whereupon Quraysh barred him from the Sacred House,

8:29 And a truce was established between them until they breached it,

8:33 Which became the direct cause for the Conquest of Makkah.

8:36 Thus, the matter unfolded precisely as the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, foretold."

8:43 An Abridged Prophetic Biography (Seerah).

8:47 Though the world's longing for one another may endure,

8:54 The longing for you transcends all bounds.

9:00 May Allah send blessings upon you whenever the call to prayer is raised,

9:08 And as long as lips move with remembrance of the Everlasting.
