for you are in the same position as we are regarding our opposition to him,

By Allah, there is no man among you who knows poetry better than I,

nor is anyone more knowledgeable of its rajaz or its qasida forms than I,

nor even the poetry of the jinn.

By Allah, the words he speaks have a sweetness,

It is fruitful at its peak and overflowing at its base.
