0:41 He reconciled their hearts after the enmity and deep-seated hatred that had existed between them.

0:48 The Ansar of Allah and the battalion of Islam, from both the black and the red, protected him.

0:53 They sacrificed their own lives for his sake.

0:56 They prioritized their love for him over their love for their fathers, children, and spouses.

1:01 He was dearer to them than their own selves.

1:05 The Arabs and the Jews attacked them from a single bow.

1:09 They girded themselves for enmity and warfare against them.

1:13 They shouted at them from every side.

1:16 Yet, Allah the Exalted commanded them to be patient, to pardon, and to overlook.

1:20 This continued until their strength grew and their wings became firm.

1:24 Only then did He permit them to fight.

1:27 He did not make it obligatory upon them at that time.

1:29 For the Almighty said:

1:31 “Sanction is given unto those who fight because they have been wronged; and Allah is indeed Able to give them victory;” (22:39)

1:36 “Sanction is given unto those who fight because they have been wronged; and Allah is indeed Able to give them victory;” (22:39)

1:41 Then, after that, He made fighting obligatory upon them against those who fought them, but not against those who did not.

1:48 For the Almighty said:

1:50 “Fight in the way of Allah against those who fight against you, but begin not hostilities. Lo! Allah loveth not aggressors.” (2:190)

1:55 Later, He made it obligatory for them to fight the polytheists collectively.

1:59 It was initially forbidden,

2:00 Then permitted,

2:02 Then commanded against those who initiated hostilities against them,

2:06 And finally commanded against all polytheists,

2:10 Either as an individual obligation (fard 'ayn), according to one of the two scholarly opinions,

2:14 Or as a communal obligation (fard kifayah), according to the well-known view.

2:17 Al-Hakim recorded in his Mustadrak with a hasan (sound) chain of narration,

2:20 On the authority of Ibn 'Abbas, may Allah be pleased with them both, who said:

2:24 'Abd al-Rahman bin 'Awf, may Allah be pleased with him, and some of his companions came to the Prophet, peace be upon him,

2:32 And said, "O Prophet of Allah,

2:35 We were in a position of honor while we were polytheists,

2:38 But when we believed, we became humiliated."

2:42 The Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, replied,

2:46 "I have been commanded to pardon,

2:48 So do not fight the people."

2:50 But when he migrated to Medina, He commanded him to fight.

2:55 Imam Ahmad recorded in his Musnad,

2:58 And al-Tirmidhi in his Jami' with a sahih (authentic) chain of narration,

3:01 On the authority of Ibn 'Abbas, may Allah be pleased with them both, who said:

3:05 When the Prophet, peace be upon him, was driven out of Mecca,

3:10 Abu Bakr, may Allah be pleased with him, said,

3:13 "They have driven out their Prophet; they shall surely perish."

3:17 Then Allah revealed:

3:18 “Sanction is given unto those who fight because they have been wronged; and Allah is indeed Able to give them victory;” (22:39)

3:28 Abu Bakr, may Allah be pleased with him, said,

3:31 "I knew then that there would be fighting."

3:37 The Expedition of Sayf al-Bahr.

3:40 The Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, dispatched the expedition of Sayf al-Bahr

3:46 In Ramadan of the first year of the Hijrah,

3:49 Seven months after his migration.

3:53 It was under the command of Hamzah bin 'Abd al-Muttalib, may Allah be pleased with him,

3:57 Accompanied by thirty riders from the Muhajirun.

4:01 The Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, gave him a white banner.

4:07 The objective:

4:08 To intercept a caravan of the Quraysh returning from the Levant,

4:13 Which included Abu Jahl bin Hisham with three hundred men.

4:18 They reached the coast (Sayf al-Bahr),

4:20 Met, and drew up in battle lines.

4:23 Then Majdi bin 'Amr al-Juhani stepped forward,

4:26 For he was an ally to both parties,

4:29 And he intervened between them, so they did not fight.

4:34 The Expedition of 'Ubaydah bin al-Harith bin al-Muttalib to Rabigh.

4:40 Then the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, dispatched

4:44 'Ubaydah bin al-Harith bin al-Muttalib

4:48 With sixty men from the Muhajirun to the valley of Rabigh.

4:52 This was in Shawwal,

4:54 Eight months after the migration of the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him.

5:01 The Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, gave him a white flag,

5:06 Which was carried by Mistah bin Uthathah, may Allah be pleased with him.

5:10 He encountered Abu Sufyan bin Harb with two hundred men

5:14 At the valley of Rabigh,

5:16 Ten miles from al-Juhfah.

5:19 There was no fighting between them,

5:21 Only a brief skirmish.

5:24 Sa'd bin Abi Waqqas, may Allah be pleased with him, shot an arrow that day,

5:29 And it was the first arrow ever shot in Islam.

5:33 Then both parties withdrew.

5:36 Imam al-Bukhari recorded

5:38 On the authority of Sa'd bin Abi Waqqas, may Allah be pleased with him, who said:

5:42 "I am the first of the Arabs to have shot an arrow in the cause of Allah."

5:49 The Expedition of Sa'd bin Abi Waqqas to al-Kharrar.

5:55 Then the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, dispatched

5:59 Sa'd bin Abi Waqqas, may Allah be pleased with him, to al-Kharrar.

6:03 This was in Dhu al-Qa'dah,

6:05 Nine months after the migration of the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him.

6:12 He gave him a white banner,

6:15 Which was carried by al-Miqdad bin 'Amr, may Allah be pleased with him.

6:18 He sent twenty men from the Muhajirun with him

6:22 To intercept a caravan of the Quraysh.

6:25 The Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, instructed him

6:29 Not to go beyond al-Kharrar.

6:31 They set out on foot,

6:34 Hiding by day and traveling by night,

6:37 Until they reached the place in the morning.

6:40 They found that the caravan had passed by the day before,

6:43 So they returned to Medina without encountering any conflict.

6:52 The longing of the worlds for one another has been set in motion,

6:59 For the longing toward you has no fathomable extent.

7:06 May Allah send blessings upon you as long as the call to prayer is raised,
