A new challenge: Who am I?
0:16
I am one of the Companions of the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him.
0:22
I am from the Ansar, specifically from the people of Quba.
0:27
I was one of the leaders (Nuqaba) on the day of the Pledge of al-Aqaba.
0:31
The Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, stayed with us
0:34
when he arrived in Quba.
0:37
He stayed in the house of our neighbor, Kulthum Ibn al-Hadm, may Allah be pleased with him.
0:41
He would sit with the people, receive them, and teach them
0:45
in that spacious house.
0:48
The house was known as the "House of the Bachelors,"
0:51
where I used to host many of the Muhajirun
0:55
as soon as they arrived in Medina.
0:58
It was there that the first Friday prayer in Medina was held,
1:02
when we were twelve men.
1:05
Mus'ab Ibn Umayr, may Allah be pleased with him, led us in prayer.
1:10
When the Prophet, peace be upon him, called upon
1:14
his Companions to set out for Badr,
1:17
my father said to me,
1:19
"Give me preference to go, my son,
1:22
and you stay behind with our women."
1:25
I replied to him,
1:26
"O my father,
1:28
if it were anything other than Paradise, I would have given you preference."
1:32
My father then said,
1:33
"Then let us draw lots;
1:36
whoever’s name is drawn shall go to fight alongside the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him."
1:42
We drew lots,
1:44
and my name was drawn.
1:46
I hurried to Badr,
1:48
and there, amidst the cries of Takbir and the neighing of horses,
1:53
the clashing of swords, and the rattling of chests,
1:57
I was killed on the battlefield.
2:00
I attained martyrdom in the very first battle with the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him.
2:09
My father loved me very much,
2:12
and my passing was very difficult for him.
2:15
He saw me one night in a dream
2:18
in the best of states,
2:20
wandering through the fruits and rivers of Paradise,
2:24
and I was saying to him,
2:27
"Join us in Paradise,
2:30
for I have found what my Lord promised me to be the truth."
2:34
When morning came, he went to the Prophet, peace be upon him,
2:39
and said,
2:40
"O Messenger of Allah,
2:42
I have awakened longing to join my son in Paradise.
2:47
I have grown old and my bones have become brittle,
2:50
and I desire to meet my Lord.
2:53
So pray to Allah for me that He grants me martyrdom
2:56
and the company of my son in Paradise."
2:59
He prayed for him,
3:01
and indeed, my father attained what he wished for;
3:05
he was granted martyrdom
3:07
and was killed in the Battle of Uhud.
3:10
So, who am I?
3:28
If Allah wills.
