A group from Banu Hanifa apostatized,

And followed their companion Musaylima out of tribal zeal and partisanship.

Informing him that he had been made a partner in the matter of prophethood.

And that he was a messenger to the people of al-Yamama.

“So go ye unto him and say: Lo! we are two messengers of thy Lord. So let the children of Israel go with us, and torment them not. We bring thee a token from thy Lord. And peace will be for him who followeth right guidance.” (20:47)

Then, during the caliphate of Abu Bakr al-Siddiq, may Allah be pleased with him,

To fight the apostates in the Battle of al-Yamama.
