0:16 I am the daughter of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and a part of him,

0:25 and the quickest of his family to join him after his passing.

0:29 I am the leader of the women of Paradise and the mother of the two grandsons,

0:33 and the wife of the valiant Caliph.

0:36 I was born into Islam after the commissioning of my father (peace be upon him) as a prophet,

0:42 and I entered the mountain pass with him during the boycott,

0:45 witnessing firsthand some of the hardships my father endured for the sake of the call.

0:50 I resembled my father (peace be upon him) most closely in demeanor, guidance, and conduct.

0:58 Whenever I entered upon him, he would stand up for me,

1:02 take my hand, kiss me, and seat me in his own place.

1:08 And whenever he entered upon me, I would stand up for him, take his hand,

1:13 kiss him, and seat him in my place.

1:17 I was given the agnomen "the mother of her father."

1:22 One day, while my father (peace be upon him) was praying near the Ka'bah,

1:28 'Uqbah Ibn Abi Mu'ayt approached,

1:31 carrying the abdominal contents and fetal sac of a camel slaughtered the day before.

1:35 When my father prostrated, that wretched man placed that filth between his shoulders.

1:41 The polytheists burst into laughter,

1:44 leaning against one another in mockery,

1:47 while my father remained prostrated, unable to raise his head.

1:50 News of this reached me, so I came running as a young girl,

1:55 and threw the filth off him,

1:57 then turned upon them, rebuking and denouncing them.

2:01 I lived my married life in severe hardship and weariness,

2:07 for we had no servant.

2:10 When news reached me that captives had been brought to my father,

2:13 I went to him to complain of the sores the hand-mill caused to my hands,

2:18 and to ask him for a servant.

2:20 But he directed me to what was far better for me than a servant:

2:24 he directed me to glorify, praise, and magnify Allah before sleeping.

2:30 I was chaste and extraordinarily modest.

2:33 When death approached me,

2:37 I said to Asma' bint 'Umays (may Allah be pleased with her):

2:41 "I truly despise what is done with women's biers,

2:45 where a mere cloth is thrown over a deceased woman on her bier,

2:49 outlining the shape of her body."

2:51 So Asma' (may Allah be pleased with her) said to me:

2:54 "Shall I not show you something I saw in Abyssinia?"

2:58 I replied, "Yes, indeed."

3:01 She then called for fresh palm branches and bent them into an arched frame,

3:04 and draped a cloth over it,

3:07 creating a complete cover that revealed no bodily contours.

3:11 I said: "How splendid and beautiful this is!

3:15 When I die, let only you and my husband wash me,

3:20 and let no one else enter upon me;

3:24 then shroud me and place these branches

3:28 over my bier." And they did so.

3:31 Thus, I was the first woman in Islam whose bier was covered

3:35 in this manner, as the biers of women are covered today.

3:40 So, who am I?

3:52 The answer will be given in the next episode, if Allah wills.

3:56 The best of generations in deeds and in example,

4:02 following the Messenger in whatever he strove for or said.

4:07 They were here, showering our lives like rain clouds,

4:12 and among us, their remembrance ever ascends.

4:17 They departed, leaving in the conscience a question:

4:22 Has any star ever risen and shone brightly like them?

4:27 They filled this life with glories through their deeds,

4:32 and the world of mankind flourished through their grace.
