0:16 I am one of the Companions of the Prophet, peace be upon him, from Makkah.

0:23 I embraced Islam in the year of the Conquest.

0:25 I witnessed the Battle of Hunayn alongside the Prophet, peace be upon him.

0:30 And the events that followed it.

0:33 I was among the most generous of people, giving away wealth without measure.

0:39 I used to spend wealth just as kings spend.

0:43 I had a grand house in Makkah, close to the Sacred Mosque.

0:49 It had two doors and was known as "The Two-Faced House."

0:54 Perfumers used to sit by it.

0:57 After my conversion to Islam, I became one of the most generous of the Companions.

1:02 I was the first to clothe the Kaaba with two coverings.

1:05 Under the guidance of the Rightly Guided Caliph, Uthman Ibn Affan, may Allah be pleased with him.

1:11 The Prophet, peace be upon him, appointed me as governor over Yemen.

1:16 After the Farewell Pilgrimage.

1:19 Then, the Caliph Abu Bakr Al-Siddiq, may Allah be pleased with him, directed me.

1:23 To fight the apostates in Yemen.

1:26 I resided for a time in Sana'a as governor and judge.

1:31 I was the first to date official documents.

1:36 Among the stories of my time in Yemen:

1:38 There lived in Sana'a a boy named Asil.

1:43 Asil’s father had a corrupt wife.

1:47 She had six brothers.

1:50 One day, she said to her brothers:

1:53 "You will never be able to have me to yourselves,"

1:56 "Until you kill Asil, my husband's son."

2:00 They killed him after his father had traveled.

2:03 And they threw him into an abandoned well.

2:06 The woman began wandering the streets, asking about him.

2:10 And praying to Allah to return her stepson to her.

2:14 When the news reached me,

2:17 I exerted my utmost effort to solve the case.

2:20 I promised those who would help uncover the truth with generous rewards.

2:24 After a few days,

2:27 Some clever individuals came to me.

2:30 They informed me that they had seen, at a well near the Ghumdan Palace,

2:34 Green flies rising from it in great numbers.

2:38 And that such flies do not appear,

2:41 Except near a corpse.

2:44 So I went out to the mentioned well.

2:47 I ordered one of those present to descend and inspect the well.

2:51 The one who descended was one of the killers,

2:55 As he had come to monitor the situation.

2:58 When he descended into the well,

3:01 He found the victim floating on the water.

3:04 He placed him in a hole beside the well.

3:07 And covered him with a rock.

3:10 When he came out, he said,

3:12 "I found nothing."

3:14 I did not believe him,

3:16 Because the smell had intensified after he descended and moved the victim.

3:21 So I ordered another man from those present to descend.

3:25 At that moment,

3:27 Signs of fear appeared on the killer.

3:30 His complexion changed.

3:32 I ordered him to be detained,

3:35 Until the victim was brought out of the well.

3:38 Then I pressed the killer hard,

3:41 And he confessed to everything.

3:43 He named his accomplices in the crime.

3:46 I arrested them.

3:48 I referred the case to Umar Ibn Al-Khattab, may Allah be pleased with him.

3:53 Umar ordered the execution of all those who participated in killing the boy.

3:58 And he said his famous words:

4:00 "If the people of Sana'a had conspired against him,"

4:03 "I would have executed them all for him."

4:05 So the six were executed,

4:07 Along with the wife of Asil’s father.

4:11 I met Umar Ibn Al-Khattab, may Allah be pleased with him, one day.

4:16 I said to him,

4:18 "I am amazed that people shorten the prayer when they are safe."

4:22 "Yet Allah, the Almighty, has said:"

4:25 “And when ye go forth in the land, it is no sin for you to curtail (your) worship if ye fear that those who disbelieve may attack you. In truth the disbelievers are an open enemy to you.” (4:101)

4:29 “And when ye go forth in the land, it is no sin for you to curtail (your) worship if ye fear that those who disbelieve may attack you. In truth the disbelievers are an open enemy to you.” (4:101)

4:33 "And the people are now safe."

4:35 Umar replied,

4:37 "I am amazed by the same thing you are amazed by."

4:39 So I mentioned that to the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him.

4:44 He said,

4:46 "It is a charity that Allah has bestowed upon you, so accept His charity."

4:50 So accept His charity.

4:52 So, who am I?
