0:22 And I am one of the ten promised Paradise.

0:26 I embraced Islam early on in Makkah.

0:28 I witnessed with the Prophet, peace be upon him,

0:31 all the battles.

0:34 I was among the heroes and leaders in the conflicts.

0:39 I was a young man, dutiful to my mother.

0:42 I loved her deeply, and she loved me just as much.

0:46 But when I embraced Islam, she said to me,

0:49 "What is this religion you have invented?"

0:52 "Either you abandon this religion of yours,"

0:55 "or I will neither eat nor drink until I die."

0:58 "So that you will be shamed by me,"

1:00 "and people will say, 'O killer of his mother!'"

1:03 I said to her, "Do not do that, Mother,"

1:07 "for I will not abandon my religion, no matter what you do."

1:11 She stayed for a day and a night without eating.

1:15 By the morning, she was exhausted.

1:18 I said, "By Allah, Mother,"

1:21 "even if you had a hundred souls,"

1:24 "and they departed one by one,"

1:26 "I would not abandon this religion of mine for anything."

1:29 "So if you wish, eat, or do not eat."

1:33 When she saw that,

1:35 she ate and drank.

1:37 And Allah revealed regarding me His saying,

1:40 "But if they endeavor to make you associate with Me"

1:44 "that of which you have no knowledge,"

1:49 "do not obey them."

1:52 “But if they strive with thee to make thee ascribe unto Me as partner that of which thou hast no knowledge, then obey them not. Consort with them in the world kindly, and follow the path of him who repenteth unto Me. Then unto Me will be your return, and I shall tell you what ye used to do -” (31:15)

2:08 I am also the first to have shed blood in the path of Allah.

2:14 For when we were in Makkah, if we wanted to pray,

2:18 we would go to the mountain passes,

2:20 and hide our prayers from our people.

2:24 While I was with a group of Muslims,

2:27 in one of the passes of Makkah,

2:29 a group of the Quraysh appeared before us.

2:33 They mocked our religion,

2:35 and we fought them.

2:37 I struck Abdullah ibn Khatal

2:39 with a camel bone,

2:41 and wounded his head.

2:43 That was the first blood shed in Islam.

2:49 I was also the first to shoot an arrow

2:52 in the path of Allah.

2:54 I was one of the skilled archers.

2:57 In the Battle of Uhud,

2:59 the Prophet, peace be upon him, emptied his quiver for me,

3:03 and said,

3:05 "Shoot, may my father and mother be sacrificed for you!"

3:08 So I shot at the polytheists,

3:10 and defended the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, from them.

3:15 I saw one of them who had been causing great harm to the Muslims,

3:19 so I drew an arrow without a head,

3:22 and struck him in the forehead.

3:24 He fell on his back,

3:26 and his private parts were exposed.

3:28 The Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, laughed,

3:32 until his molars were visible.
