0:16 I am one of the noble Companions.

0:21 And a son-in-law of the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him.

0:25 I am the husband of his daughter, Zaynab, may Allah be pleased with her.

0:29 And I am the father of Umamah.

0:32 Whom the Prophet, peace be upon him, used to carry during his prayer.

0:37 The Prophet, peace be upon him, praised my conduct in our marital life.

0:43 When the Prophet, peace be upon him, was sent with his message,

0:47 I delayed in following him.

0:49 And I remained upon the religion of Quraysh.

0:52 My people said to me,

0:54 "Leave your wife, the daughter of Muhammad."

0:58 "And we will marry you to any woman from Quraysh you wish."

1:03 I said to them, "No, by Allah."

1:06 "I will not leave my wife."

1:09 "And I would not love to have any woman from Quraysh in her place."

1:16 I participated in the Battle of Badr with the polytheists.

1:19 And I was taken prisoner by the Muslims.

1:23 The people of Makkah sent ransom for their captives.

1:27 My wife, Zaynab, the daughter of the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, sent

1:32 wealth for my ransom.

1:34 She also sent with it a necklace of hers.

1:37 Which her mother, Khadijah, may Allah be pleased with her,

1:41 had given her when she entered into marriage with me.

1:43 When the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, saw the necklace,

1:48 he was deeply moved.

1:51 And he said,

1:53 "Zaynab has sent this wealth to ransom her husband."

1:58 "If you see fit to release her captive for her,"

2:02 "and return her wealth to her,"

2:04 "then do so."

2:06 The Companions said,

2:08 "Yes, and with pleasure, O Messenger of Allah."

2:12 The Prophet, peace be upon him, stipulated to me

2:16 that I must send his daughter Zaynab to him without delay.

2:22 I had barely reached Makkah

2:25 when I hastened to fulfill my promise to him.

2:28 I ordered Zaynab to prepare to join her father.

2:32 And I parted with her despite my intense love for her.

2:36 He, peace be upon him, said,

2:39 "He spoke to me and was truthful."

2:42 "And he promised me and fulfilled it."

2:45 When it was before the Conquest [of Makkah],

2:49 I went out on a trade journey to the Levant with my wealth and much wealth belonging to Quraysh.

2:55 When I returned,

2:57 a detachment of Muslims intercepted me.

3:00 They seized what I had with me in the caravan.

3:03 I managed to escape from them.

3:06 They arrived in Madinah with what they had seized.

3:09 I approached under the cover of night,

3:12 until I entered upon Zaynab, may Allah be pleased with her.

3:16 I sought her protection.

3:18 She granted me protection.

3:20 When the Prophet, peace be upon him, learned of this,

3:24 he sent word to the detachment that had seized my wealth.

3:28 He said to them,

3:30 "This man is one of us, as you know."

3:34 "And you have seized his wealth."

3:37 "If you act kindly and return it,"

3:39 "we would love that."

3:42 "But if you refuse,"

3:44 "it is the spoils of Allah that He has given you."

3:46 "And you are more entitled to it."

3:48 They said,

3:49 "Rather, we will return it, O Messenger of Allah."

3:52 So they returned it all.

3:54 I took it and went with it to Makkah.

3:58 I paid every person who had a right their due.

4:01 Then I said,

4:03 "O people of Quraysh,"

4:05 "does anyone among you have anything left with me?"

4:09 They said, "No."

4:11 "We have found you to be faithful and noble."

4:14 So I said,

4:16 "I bear witness that there is no god but Allah."

4:20 "And that Muhammad is His servant and messenger."

4:24 "By Allah, nothing prevented me from accepting Islam while I was there,"

4:27 "except the fear that you would think,"

4:29 "that I only wanted to consume your wealth."

4:33 Then I went to the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him.

4:39 He was pleased with my Islam.

4:41 And he returned Zaynab, may Allah be pleased with her, to me,

4:45 under the original marriage contract.
