A new challenge: Who am I?
0:16
I am one of the noble Companions and a leader among the Ansar.
0:24
I was skilled in reading and writing.
0:27
I witnessed the Second Pledge of al-'Aqabah.
0:30
I was one of the twelve leaders (nuqaba') appointed during that event.
0:33
I also witnessed the battles of Badr and Uhud with the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him.
0:39
The Prophet, peace be upon him, established a bond of brotherhood between me and 'Abd al-Rahman ibn 'Awf, may Allah be pleased with him.
0:46
Upon his arrival in Medina.
0:48
I said to my brother 'Abd al-Rahman:
0:51
"The Ansar know that I am among the wealthiest of them.
0:55
I will divide my wealth into two halves between you and me.
0:59
I also have two wives.
1:01
Look at them, and whichever one you find more appealing,
1:03
I will divorce her, and once her waiting period is over, you may marry her."
1:08
'Abd al-Rahman, may Allah be pleased with him, said to me:
1:11
"May Allah bless your family and your wealth for you.
1:15
Just show me the way to the marketplace."
1:17
During the Battle of Uhud,
1:20
the battle concluded,
1:22
and I had been struck down among the wounded Muslims.
1:25
The Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, asked about me and said:
1:30
"Who will see for me what has become of so-and-so?"
1:33
A man from the Ansar said:
1:35
"I will, O Messenger of Allah."
1:38
He went out searching among the fallen,
1:40
until he found me wounded, pinned down, and in my final breaths.
1:45
He said to me:
1:46
"The Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, sends you his greetings,
1:51
and asks how you are faring."
1:54
I said to him:
1:56
"Convey my greetings to the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him,
2:01
and tell him:
2:02
'I can already smell the scent of Paradise.'
2:05
May Allah reward you on my behalf with the best reward He has ever granted a prophet for his Ummah.
2:11
And convey my greetings to my people and tell them:
2:14
'You have no excuse before Allah
2:17
if any harm reaches the Messenger of Allah while there is still a blink left in your eyes.'"
2:22
Then my soul departed.
2:25
The man returned to the Prophet, peace be upon him, and informed him.
2:30
The Prophet, peace be upon him, said:
2:33
"May Allah have mercy on him;
2:35
he was sincere to Allah and His Messenger, both in life and in death."
2:40
So, who am I?
